We had such a great time here b/c of the food and people. Very entertaining!
This was the first time we went to this restaurant. Food was really good! I’ve been looking for a good Chinese restaurant and I’m happy we found this place. Plus it’s really close to where we live. The only disappointment was that I was looking forward to a mai tai. It came in a tall glass completely jampacked with crushed ice. So much ice that I couldn’t even stir it. Was disappointed and will probably not order a bar drink again. Seems they want to save money on their liquor by overfilling the glass with ice and they charged $14! I’ve never had a mai tai with crushed ice in it before. Just doesn’t seem right!
This place is a Hollywood classic. Great for private parties and dinner dates. Simple yet consistent. Always make a reservation because it's always full for dinner.
Excellent food, best Chinese around. Really love going there. Everything is just top notch.
Excellent New York-stile Chinese food (the Orange Chicken is particularly tasty). Amazing (and generously poured) drinks. Great service, topped off by the homey ambiance.
Long story short: this eatery's a treasure.
Excellent Chinese food. Never disappoints. The service is good. Servers are very polite. New York egg rolls are just like New York ones.
I’ve been going to the restaurant for many, many years but the food over the past few months has been only so-so. The food is longer 100% reliable. Not sure what changed but it is sad as Genghis Cohen is an institution and was always solidly consistent.
Really had high hopes for this place....but those were dashed
Small portions if you expect to share and although they can this NY Chinese.....it is close but no cigar.
I mean who puts corn on cashew chicken and they served us Mongolian beef....it should have been Mongolian scallions. I thought I would have to find the Wendy’s woman to ask “where’s the beef.”
I live in the area, and I’ve always noticed this restaurant. After doing a wine tasting at Froma nearby, my bf & I spontaneously decided to walk over and check it out.
The restaurant was everything I wanted, and it was actually better than I expected. I liked the commitment to the theme in their decor, with lanterns strung across the restaurant, etc. Food was delish.
Food was great as leftovers the next day, too!
The quality has gone downhill in the past year. The chefs are lmconsistent and it appears they are using lower quality ingredients. Their honey walnut shrimp used to be outstanding and now tastes like it’s swimming in soupy mayonnaise with no flavor. Smaller shrimp. The orange chicken is often over cooked and too friend vs before it was cooked perfectly with quality chicken you can taste. With quality that bad you might as well get Panda Express. After several bad experiences, my friends and I deciddd to give up on this place, despite its outstanding quality in the past.
Always good food, ambiance and friendly staff. Value for money too
Just good Chinese good. Nothing fancy. Servers put the food down and run but they are nice about it. We’ve had the Peking duck a few times but last time the meat was very tough so doubt we will order it again. The food is like Chinese food was in the 60’s. Not gourmet and that’s what we like about it.
Great place to go for Chinese food ambience and entertainment.
Everything was fine, I felt we sat at the table a little too long before someone came over to take our drink order. Other than that the service and food was very good.
Best Chinese food outside of NYC! Fast friendly service
The New York style egg rolls are really close to what the wife and l use to get as kids. These are very good. The Queen Chicken and Cilantro Shrimp was delicious and the Old School Mai Tai has a nice kick to it. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in LA.
Dinner with my sister. We had a great time.
Perhaps the best Chinese restaurant in all of Los Angeles - certainly in the top 2 or 3. And for ambiance, it cannot be challenged. Genghis Cohen is a restaurant worth coming back to time and time again.
A truly delicious meal. Potstickers are 100! Walnut shrimp, queens chicken, beef and broccoli, three flavor lo mein and the string beans. Everything amazing.
The decor is so fun and feels classic Hollywood, too.
The drinks are great. And we had terrific chocolate cake!
Food was very good, as usual, but service was a bit spotty. We had to keep asking for items that should have been brought to table (like white rice) with meal
The food was great as always !!
The noise level was “ bad” we couldnt hear each other since it was too loud...
The price quite high!
They told us to leave at 12 midnight
We still wanted to stay a little longer enjoying our friends ...
Has completely gone down hill
Best nyc style Chinese food outside nyc. Singapore noodles spot on. Queen chicken and Mongolian beef excellent. Egg roll filling a bit disappointing. Overall will make this a definite stop on all future l a trips.
Delicious, made to order Chinese
Great time and delicious food! We saw Rob Milton after in the venue. Perfect evening celebrating our best friend’s birthday.
The staff was very nice and attentive which set the pace for the rest of the night. The food was delicious and the bar was on par with any high end Hollywood restaurant. I would definitely recommend Genghis Cohen to anyone in the area, or anywhere for that matter.
We’ve been going to GC for many years. It’s a go to for very good Chinese food and we’ll be going back for years to come.
The service is very good. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating.
The food is great. Everything we get is tasty and satisfying.
It was a great feast to go there would love to continue to eat there as long they have a good menu to eat there.
Took my Mom to dinner here the last night she was in town and it was amazing. Taking my brother now.
Best Chinese in town! Great Mu Shu Pork, egg rolls, and Queen chicken...Will return soon!
the parking situation is hideous and I would not come back for that reason alone. my guest spent 20 min. trying to get a spot. there is no excuse for not providing valet service which 90% plus of all other LA restaurants do. you really need to fix this!
General flavor was mediocre
People were nice and other customers seemed happy
Perhaps we ordered the wrong items
We were in the back area and our waiter just kinda kept FORGETTING about us. No a big deal, but on a non-busy night, just ODD.
First time here. FANTASTIC surprise. We will definitely be coming back; and it’s a two hour drive. Worth it!!!
I always recommend this place. Been coming for years. It's our go to place for Chinese food. Love their unique take on classic dishes.
I always enjoy the Queen Chicken and the Cracker Jack Shrimp and I had not been there is a while, so I was hoping that it was still good, and it was delish!
Always a great place to eat! Food is superb, Staff is courteous. A bit pricey but typical for any high-end Chinese restaurant. Definitely recommend reservations, no matter what day of the week! Prime time to eat is 6:30-7:00
I have favorite items here and they never fail to please. The service is spot on and pleasant. The lively decor sets a festive mood.
My favorites incude: Spicy & Salty Tofu as an appetizer with extra pot sticker sauce, Pot roast Eggplant, Szechuan Shrimp, Mongolian Lamb and many others.
Outstanding as always: Food, service. I wish there were some tables and not just booths for groups of 2-4.
