Need to book at 7:45 AM?Other great restaurants with availability.
The Hart and the Hunter
Carlitos Gardel Argentine Steakhouse
Always a pleasure going to Genghis. It's casual, it's fast, and food is consistent. Staff super nice. Get there early to find parking in the lot next door.
Great food, great service and well priced. Love this place!
Customers for 20+ yrs. Gave glowing review to new neighbor. Tonight we go in for dinner, wait 15 minutes for service in half empty room, no waitress, a bartender who's too busy changing tv channels to take drink order and manager who can't be bothered. Even after one of the bus men pointed to us to say we hadn't been served. We left and went someplace else where we were appreciated as customers and spent more than $200.00. Unfortunately we will not be going back. After 20 years time to find a new Chinese restaurant.
Really bad service this time. I booked for 6 people and they put us in a 4 person booth, which they felt was fine because we had 2 kids. Absolutely no space for that many people to sit and eat comfortably let alone have space when the food arrived. They said the larger booths were reserved for 7 people however both parties that came in to sit in them were 6 people. Food took over 45 min to arrive and we didn’t have a set waiter the whole time and no one checking on us. Not an enjoyable evening being very cramped and ignored. Next time please don’t accept a reservation for 6 people if you don’t have proper space to fit them. I could have just booked at another restaurant.
Love this place! Order anything In the menu. You will be happy.
It's ALWAYS fabulous dining at Genghis Cohen!! I'm looking forward to the next time!
ALWAYS OUR NEIGHBORHOOD FAVORITE...GOOD SERVICE AND EXCELLENT FOOD
Delicious as usual. Repeat customer since originally open many years ago!
Cant get enough! Best waiter Hugo/best waitress Mocci. They take such good care of us for many years!😋😃👍👏
I would only recommend this to someone because there is a lack of decent, sit-down Chinese restaurants in this part of the city. The owners who owned this place for many years sold it a couple of years ago. At first, I was quite hopeful. The new owners did an update on the decor which was good. However, after eating here recently, the food quality has plummeted.
Love! Love! Love! Genghis Cohen! 🙋🏻♂️
My go to for Chinese food. We go as a family so often that the wait staff knows us by name and has our drinks and appetizers on order when we step in the door. Cheers!
They had an awesome holiday menu, not as many options as their usual menu but it’s the best of the best. We book our Christmas Day dinner there every year, several months in advance and are always glad we do!
Hands-down the best place for Christmas Eve Chinese food. Friendly staff, speedy service, good food. Fantastic evening. Happy holidays Genghis! We'll be back in a few days.
It was a very nice experience. We enjoyed our time there.
Annual Christmas/Hanukkah dinner with friends.
Nasty hostess though we had a reservation. Too much attitude and u friendly! Pork dumplings tasted very odd inside. Fried rice was not great. Drinks are pricey!
Pretty good Chinese food - lots of choices on the menu.
We had such a great time here b/c of the food and people. Very entertaining!
This was the first time we went to this restaurant. Food was really good! I’ve been looking for a good Chinese restaurant and I’m happy we found this place. Plus it’s really close to where we live. The only disappointment was that I was looking forward to a mai tai. It came in a tall glass completely jampacked with crushed ice. So much ice that I couldn’t even stir it. Was disappointed and will probably not order a bar drink again. Seems they want to save money on their liquor by overfilling the glass with ice and they charged $14! I’ve never had a mai tai with crushed ice in it before. Just doesn’t seem right!
This place is a Hollywood classic. Great for private parties and dinner dates. Simple yet consistent. Always make a reservation because it's always full for dinner.
Excellent food, best Chinese around. Really love going there. Everything is just top notch.
Excellent New York-stile Chinese food (the Orange Chicken is particularly tasty). Amazing (and generously poured) drinks. Great service, topped off by the homey ambiance.
Long story short: this eatery's a treasure.
Excellent Chinese food. Never disappoints. The service is good. Servers are very polite. New York egg rolls are just like New York ones.
I’ve been going to the restaurant for many, many years but the food over the past few months has been only so-so. The food is longer 100% reliable. Not sure what changed but it is sad as Genghis Cohen is an institution and was always solidly consistent.
Really had high hopes for this place....but those were dashed
Small portions if you expect to share and although they can this NY Chinese.....it is close but no cigar.
I mean who puts corn on cashew chicken and they served us Mongolian beef....it should have been Mongolian scallions. I thought I would have to find the Wendy’s woman to ask “where’s the beef.”
I live in the area, and I’ve always noticed this restaurant. After doing a wine tasting at Froma nearby, my bf & I spontaneously decided to walk over and check it out.
The restaurant was everything I wanted, and it was actually better than I expected. I liked the commitment to the theme in their decor, with lanterns strung across the restaurant, etc. Food was delish.
Food was great as leftovers the next day, too!
The quality has gone downhill in the past year. The chefs are lmconsistent and it appears they are using lower quality ingredients. Their honey walnut shrimp used to be outstanding and now tastes like it’s swimming in soupy mayonnaise with no flavor. Smaller shrimp. The orange chicken is often over cooked and too friend vs before it was cooked perfectly with quality chicken you can taste. With quality that bad you might as well get Panda Express. After several bad experiences, my friends and I deciddd to give up on this place, despite its outstanding quality in the past.
Always good food, ambiance and friendly staff. Value for money too
Just good Chinese good. Nothing fancy. Servers put the food down and run but they are nice about it. We’ve had the Peking duck a few times but last time the meat was very tough so doubt we will order it again. The food is like Chinese food was in the 60’s. Not gourmet and that’s what we like about it.
Great place to go for Chinese food ambience and entertainment.
Everything was fine, I felt we sat at the table a little too long before someone came over to take our drink order. Other than that the service and food was very good.
Best Chinese food outside of NYC! Fast friendly service
The New York style egg rolls are really close to what the wife and l use to get as kids. These are very good. The Queen Chicken and Cilantro Shrimp was delicious and the Old School Mai Tai has a nice kick to it. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in LA.
Dinner with my sister. We had a great time.
Perhaps the best Chinese restaurant in all of Los Angeles - certainly in the top 2 or 3. And for ambiance, it cannot be challenged. Genghis Cohen is a restaurant worth coming back to time and time again.
A truly delicious meal. Potstickers are 100! Walnut shrimp, queens chicken, beef and broccoli, three flavor lo mein and the string beans. Everything amazing.
The decor is so fun and feels classic Hollywood, too.
The drinks are great. And we had terrific chocolate cake!
Food was very good, as usual, but service was a bit spotty. We had to keep asking for items that should have been brought to table (like white rice) with meal
The food was great as always !!
The noise level was “ bad” we couldnt hear each other since it was too loud...
The price quite high!
They told us to leave at 12 midnight
We still wanted to stay a little longer enjoying our friends ...
