Genesis Bar & Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We love Genesis. After a couple visits, the staff greet you like ole friends. Nice. And the food is diverse and generous. The restaurant offers so many options. Two bars, two outdoor seating areas, two dining areas. The selection of drinks, food and specials are truly accommodating of any tastes. This is the perfect stop with a group that can't make up their mind where to go.
We thought it was Just OK
I HEARD THE Burgers were GREAT on the internet
I ORDERED The " Genesis Burger"- Rare to Medium Rare
I couldn't really see it.. because the place is VERY DARK
SO I ATE IT and discovered that
It came out on the Medium Well Done to Well Done side and wasn't that tasty
At $17 it wasn't a good value
The fries were good and crispy as ordered ...but I needed to salt them up quite a bit
My buddy had the fish & chips $18 and a side of Spinach $8
He said it was just OK
THE WAITRESS was very nice and it was quick service
but they charged me another $3 for a Diet Coke refill which is usually not done.
We split an appetizer of Boneless Buffalo Chicken Bites $13
They were pretty good but not great
With tax and a 20% tip the total bill was $84 ( no alcohol )
Way too much for what we had...!
I might go back on a Monday or Tuesday night for their special prices on Wings - 50 cents each & Burgers -$10 each
We went to Genesis not expecting much. We were pleasantly surprised.
The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. I had a Gaelic burger which was great.
My guest had the fish and chips. She was pleased at how fresh and perfectly cooked
the fish was. Simple meals, yes, but haven't we all had similar food at other establishments that we wished we did not order? At Genesis they know how to cook.
A couple of friends who live in the neighborhood one who had had knee surgery was not looking to travel too far from home and we came across the listing on open table and decided to try it. We were all very happy with the location, food, ambiance, and service. The two who live in the area will make it a regular local eating spot.
This was not our first trip to Genesis. As always, we found the food good (nothing fancy or gourmet, but very tasty pub-type food, worth going back for) and the service super friendly and quick. It is a sports bar, so you do have the noise from the various televisions, but for a casual evening with friends, you won't do much better, and their Irish whiskey selection is small but excellent. I always recommend Genesis for casual gatherings on the UES.
I've tried their burgers and they are pretty good.My absolute favorite thing to get there though, has to be the nachos supreme.Just imagine warm tortilla chips with freshly made chili on top and melted cheese. A side of sour cream with that and I am in heaven for just $11. The only bad thing I would have to say is the service. The ladies that work there are very nice, but whenever I have gone there for lunch, which is plenty, there's only one person working behind the bar and serving. As a result, sometimes it's hard to get her attention. Other than that I love this place and it is my go to lunch spot.Keep up the great nachos!
Better than average pub fare, with super friendly service. If you sit in the back, it's really quiet and you can have a conversation. Louder at the bar, but still not crazy loud. As long as you book in advance, it's great for groups. Good beer selection, they have my favorite Irish whiskey (Red Breast, not always easy to find), and the wines by the glass are decent and affordable. Nothing fancy here, but just fine, and the service keeps us going back--it's always warm, friendly and attentive. 3 1/2 stars.
We came in to watch a college football game and they gave us a room in the back It was especially nice because we had kids and adults and we were there for more than three hours. Food was great, something for everyone and the staff so attentive. It's a great spot for a large group get together which is often hard to find in the city.
Nice (and clean) neighborhood place. Good foods, nice bar selection. Friendly service staff. Worth trying. Get the bacon-burger, lots of bacon. Eat outside on the sidewalk if you like street activity, OR eat in their private backyard. The interior is nice and very clean, but if you like eating outdoors, this place is verg desirable.
