Genesee Grande - 1060 Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The ambience was lovely. The wait staff was great. We got our wine quickly & our food was out before we finished a glass. The food was -ok. We had an array of small plates/appetizers. We had the fish tacos, cheesy tots, Asian shrimp (which was delicious) and the flat bread pizza of th day. Aside from the shrimp, everything else was lacking much flavor. The food was very bland & in my opinion, not worth the $. If it wasn’t for the delicious bottle of wine, i would Have given this restaurant one star.
We sat in dining room off bar area. Area was nice, but not very intimate or well appointed. Server was less polished than expected. Initially attentive, but didn’t reappear for a long time after food served.
Entrees (salmon and tuna) were both very good. Overall good, not great dining experience.
We had a group of international visitors for lunch at 1060. The food and service were outstanding. The only thing is that to be able to hear each other in conversation, we had to move from one table which was next to a very loud group to another table further away in the main dining room. So the acoustical sound proofing could be improved if possible.
Service was very good, although while we were waiting to give the hostess our name, one of the servers/bus people was having some kind of issue around the hostess podium and abruptly walked directly in front of us without so much as an "excuse me," so much so that I had to move out of the way. Not the best first impression. However, our waitress was great and the meal was outstanding. It would be nice if a small salad was included with the meal since it's quite pricey. I would definitely go back for a special occasion or a Groupon offer, which is what brought me in this time.
Our party of 4 tried 4 different menu items. The filet mignon was expensive but superb. Others had the delicious soup and a small plate. There is a nice variety of choices to suit different tastes and size of appetite. The ambiance is very nice. Worth trying again.
The building is beautiful, and it was bustling the night we went--between a wedding reception and those of us attending the Paul McCartney concert. However, the food was just alright. I had a seafood salad and found a piece of plastic in mine, which I sent back so it was easily replaced--but truth to tell, really didn't taste exceptional. My husband had the fish and chips option, and it was fine but nothing special. I wanted to give the restaurant a better review, but we went to nearby Phoebe's Restaurant the prior week, and the food was much better.
Dreadful experience start to finish. Agree with previous reviews that staff can be rude and condescending. Noise level very loud. Unremarkable decor in main dining room. Parking was completely full due to a wedding, which mean paying $20 elsewhere and walk. Was there to celebrate my mother's 73rd birthday. Will not return.
My friends and I came here for dinner before an event at the Dome. We had reservations and was seated immediately. However, no one came to our table for at least 15 minutes - not even to pour water. I mentioned it was my birthday and wanted to get a special drink for the occasion. But we were never given a drinks menu or a wine list. I finally flagged down a server, who said she would go find the waiter for our table. It turned out to be her. She was obviously rushed and tired. The food was good, although the soup was barely luke-warm and the hot artichoke dip was cold in the center. Knowing that there was an event at the Dome, the restaurant might have wanted to put a couple more servers on.
We celebrated our 61st wedding anniversary at 1060. It was fantastic. The chicken and duck was delicious as well as the sauces and veggies that accompanied them. We were treated as VIPs and were favored with free desserts to add to our celebration and make our dining experience complete. A bottle of wine complimented our meals. Our waitress, Keely, has a great smile and a wonderful gift of hospitality. We will definitely recommend 1060 to our friends and look forward to our next visit.
What a discovery in the heart of downtown Syracuse! Was in for only a one night visit and the 1060 seemed very appealing. It turned out to be fantastic! During our next visit to the area, we will be sure to stay at the Genesee Grande so that we have more opportunities to sample the delicious fare on offer at the 1060! From appetizers to special entrees, all magnificent!
It should be noted that we had a reservation and were seated promptly. One problem no waitress assigned to our table 2. no one mentioned the special for Sunday half price bottle of wine. After waiting a considerable amount of time, I flagged down a waitress told her we were not waited on. She was very responsive. and did a great job. Erika
I went on a Friday night with 6 others. We had been there before for the filet and recommended it to the others. It is a very varied menu and anyone would find something they would like. 5 out of 7 of us got the filet. All filets were cooked to perfection which I would think would be difficult for the chef to have them all done at the same time cooked to 3 different levels. Everyone said it was the best filet they ever had. Accompaniments were also wonderful. And the deserts were also really good. We will return again and again!
