Geisha Steak & Sushi Ratings and Reviews
Went to this restaurant after seeing several positive reviews on Yelp. Food was good, but service was disappointingly slow even with a reservation. Everything asked for, even water, took over 15 minutes for delivery. We arrived at 7:32 pm for a 7:30 reservation, sat at teppan-yaki table after 8pm, and finally finished paying the bill at close to 10:00pm -even paying the check took a long time. Teppan-yaki chef was good. Teppan-yaki food was good. Chairs were sticky. Carpet was sticky. Not coming back. Not recommending to others. Restaurant owners or whomever is responsible for profit and loss must remember this: food and gimmicks bring people in the first time, but service is what makes them repeat customers. Bartender was nice while we waited.
Friday night at 7:30 PM for hibachi. We were seated and drinks didn't arrive for 15 min, (water, coffee, 1 wine and 1 beer) so I went to the bar. It was MotherinLaw and grandson's 6th birthday. We didn't get order taken for 45 min. Food didn't arrive to start cooking for an hour after we were seated. Needless to say, kids were hungry. Chef was very young an lacked a little showism but still cute. My scallops were gritty, but I guess thats the way their supposed to be since it's been a while. Kids chicken was overcooked and I didn't hear the results of the other 1/2 of the table of filet mignon. Due to our long wait, I had to ask for a complimentary glass to make me happy since I went to the hostess 3 times to see what was taking so long. She said she had to ask her manager if it was okay. Hmmm, seriously? We come here a lot and won't for a while. They should have compt more than that for this less than satisfying experience. There was a mediocre happy birthday song - kina lame. The bill was over $150 and my husband is an over tipper as always - God love him for that b/c I wouldn't have.
The food was good, once we got all that we ordered. The cook did not properly anticipate cooking what was ordered. By the time we received the chicken the rest of our food was cold. The floor had some sort of substance that was wet and sticky. When we told management about it, they didn't really seem to care. Our shoes stuck to the carpet. Maybe I'd revisit this restaurant but maybe not. There are other hibachi-type restaurants that were better and will probably receive my business.
Food and all else was great, waitress was not attentive, we bought drinks and tea, water, but was not attentive to filling our water glasses. We also had one person ask for white rice, we had to remind 3 times to get our rice. We did complain and did receive a discount, which is nice, but we did not come to get a discount. Overall, everything was great.
Going to a hibachi grill is a tradition with the group I was traveling with last week. We had several to choose from and I am glad we choose Geisha. The Yum Yum sauce was like nothing I have ever had and it was very good. Ignore the reviews on some of the lesser sites and check this place out on open table. You will enjoy it!
The hosts and wait staff are young and inexperienced. I had to wait even though I made a reservation and went by in person during the day to make sure nothing would go wrong (it was Valentine's Day). The manager I met was friendly. When we arrived, there was a wait and a bit of confusion in the seating of parties. I kindly reminded them that I had a reservation and asked to speak to the manager. Once again, he was friendly and seated us immediately. The waitress did not know how to open champagne, so that was an amusing pre-show. The chef was entertaining and the food was good. It's not a bad place, it's just not for me.
the restaurant couldnt access their computers so no record of our reservation. Short on wait staff and slow to bring drinks, etc There arent many choices in my area for hibachi, but I probably wont go back there. It's a pricey meal for bad service and lost reservations. Only good thing to say is that it really impresses kids to see the chef cooking right in front of them.
Went based off of previous (much earlier) reviews. When we got there they told us that they do not usually check OpenTable. No big deal - they seated us easily as we were there early.
Food - not that bad, but not great either. The menus were cracked with many of the alcoholic items that were not available crossed out with a marker?? The Hibachi areas were VERY dirty and not worthy of the prices charged. Overall experience not bad but they need to put in some work to clean up the place, fix menus and make the experience better.
We arrived with a reservation at 7:30. They asked if we made it online or through Open Table. When we said Open Table the hostess said that they don't usually get those reservations. We sat in the bar for 30 minutes while other people were seated that arrived after us.
If they don't receive Open Table reservations they shouldn't be on Open Table. They didn't seem to have a lot of tables to seat people at. Atmosphere wasn't great either. Would not go back even if I made an online reservation on their site. Manager let us walk out with a "sorry guys" and that was it.
Terrible, disappointing, experience. We had a 7:30 reservation, we were asked to wait in bar area. We had no service for drinks etc while waiting; husband finally went to bar and got something himself. It was our daughters birthday and we had 6 in our party. Waited 1 hour 20 min before we were approached with apologies; they said we had free appetizers coming for our wait. 10 more minutes passed, no appetizers no table, we got up and left. We will never go back. We saw 3 people serving the entire restaurant. Our worst Open Table experience ever!
We had reservations at 7:45 for 4 people. Of course, we were sitting with another party; however, we were not seated until after 8:00. We asked one of the employees how much longer we were going to have to wait since we were disappointed, and he apologized and offered a free appetizer. The food was absolutely amazing. The service prior to being seated was okay, not great. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.
If you've ever been to Benihana, then you know exactly what the hibachi side is like. You'll have a chef that'll do various tricks (I won't spoil the surprise!) and is very reasonably priced vs. a place like Benihana.
If you don't want a hibachi meal, they have a restaurant side with sushi bar which is great as well so pretty much if you're in the mood for Japanese you have both sides covered.
Enjoyed our dinner here. We were able to have both sushi and hibachi at a regular dining table. My husband has some sort of tuna appetizer that came in a big martini glass with ice and the ice continued to change colors with a magic light inside. Quite pretty. The salad dressing was good. The sauces were good. All of the food was tasty. Compared to other Japanese restaurants we have been to before, this ranks near the top.
We've been here quite a few times before and was always good so we came back on a Monday night to celebrate mom's b-day. That was noted on OT reservation but no special effort was made to acknowledge it by wait staff. Don't recommend Hibachi on Mondays. Was just not that good and the sushi fell apart. We didn't make big deal as it would spoil event for guest of honor. The cocktails were the best part of dinner.
Saw this restaurant advertised on OpenTable, and thought I'd try it on my way home from work. Arrived and very sweet hostess knew nothing about OpenTable. She didn't even know what it is. She was new and apologized, and was very sweet. She got the owner and even he couldn't check me in. After several minutes of him trying, I was seated at a table that already had their drinks. I waited and waited; three more were added to the table. After 15 minutes, and looking around at a lot of left-over food on the plates of those dining around me who had already finished, I realized I didn't have all night to eat. I excused myself from the restaurant and left, never to return.
