Very good service, prompt, attentive; good food; menu somewhat limited but adequate; a neighborhood gem, somewhat off the beaten path; a good place to eat and spend an evening
We were looking forward to our dinner at Gavi as it had been recommended to us but our service/experience was mixed. Two of the three of us arrived early for a drink at the bar - suffice it to say that it wasn't a good start - no Gavi by the glass we were told (??? we thought we'd have several to choose from!), then there was one but it wasn't great - settled on Pinot and getting two glasses too 40 minutes and a push from the manager to the bartender to actually get us some drinks. It was crowded but not packed - both of us have food service background - bottom line - poorly run bar. Very disappointing start.
The manager or owner was excellent he got us to a table as soon as our third arrived - our waiter was also excellent - he was a pleasure and took great care of us.
The food was also excellent - it begins with a bean/lentil/chickpea mix with the bread, very good. The best portobello appetizer we've ever had, baked clams and three different, unique and delicious pasta dishes. We even had dessert (Linzer Tart) and our waiter found us a great Gavi by the glass so we ended up much better than we began.
Our only other "issue" was the noise - there is no sound mitigation in the place and it was very hard to hear each other even after the place began to clear out - some of this was simply the people around us being extremely boisterous - but some panels on the ceilings would make a great difference.
Bottom line we will try it again - we may go earlier to miss the crowd and hopefully the noise but the food, waiter and manager were all worthy of another trip.
The food was well prepared and the restaurant was quiet as there were very few occupied tables. Although the staff was very friendly, based on the amount of people in the restaurant, they could have been more attentive. My husband had the "veal Gavi" and was very pleased with his dish.
Loved our dinner at Gavi! Great bar service. Excellent table service and an outstanding meal.
Love it great large menu great service
My wife and I were accommodated on short notice for Valentine's Day. The food and service was excellent. Authentic Italian cuisine. Great specials and wine pairings were explained by the waiter. Not at all expensive and a great value.
Absolutely the best calamari we have ever had.
My steak was charred to perfection.
The eggplant and pasta dish was flavorful and very unique.
Go back? You bet we will.
I struggled to give an overall recommendation. We enjoyed our food at Gavi. It is, I think a good neighborhood restaurant. We have only visited once. I had the Penna vodka and my wife Gnocci in tomato sauce. I thought mine was nice. She said hers was a bit salty and the gnocci a little rubbery. The hostess was very nice and all of the waiters but we did not see them often. It was very loud. Hard floors and walls. It was very busy so do not count my review as final. We ended up saying that we would come back but probably not go out of the way. We live 20-30 minutes away and like a little drive so it is important that we want to be sure of what we get. So overall, we liked it but not special. But then again, only once trip so we may do it again.
Great early dinner with the family. A little slow, but very accommodating for a little one especially.
Great food, great restaurant, great staff, friendly atmosphere
Four of us had very different food choices. One had pasta, one had seafood, one had veal, and one had chicken. Each agreed that their food was quite good. My wife and I shared a chocolate cake. I ate most of it. Much to my wife’s dismay. A terrific place, with personality. Great for a friend’s’ get-together.
Always delicious and the staff is always inviting and accomodating!
Always consistently excellent. Been going for years and 5 Stars in all ways. Definitely go!
Went here for holiday luncheon. Food was very good as was service. The only thing that disappointed me was that on their website, they show a lunch menu, with $15 lunch specials including and appetizer and entree, that I intended to order from.....but when you get there, they don't have a lunch special menu and have to order everything a la carte. They need to update their website as it is very misleading from that perspective.
Great spot right after work on a Friday night. Very welcoming, food was superb
The food is consistently flavorful and delicious. The portions are ample and vegetables are served along with the entree. Service is great and atmosphere is warm and friendly. Gavi is a wonderful restaurant that we always enjoy.
First time diner. Would definitely go back. Specials were excellent.
Only complaint was the noise level when we first got there. It was 7:30 on a Saturday evening and you could barely hear. Fortunately a lot of the crowd left by 8:30 and we were able to enjoy relaxing conversation.
Very good local Italian restaurant with very good food, good service and nice friendly ambiance.
No review necessary as we enjoyed our Dinner but can not share our experience with you. It was a nice evening
We were 5 colleagues at a casual lunch and ordered from the express lunch menu. The food was good and the portions were just right; there was no leftover! The service was a little slow; there was a large party in the other room. Good, not bad, not great. I would maybe go again to see if the service was more attentive and maybe order from the regular menu. Good value.
As usual, Gavi is great! Had the bronzini.....yum!
Food is always well prepared with ample portion size. Creative specials. Nice dining room with soft lighting. Professional service. Always pleased with my meal at Gavi!
Relaxing dinner with a coworker. The staff did not rush us, but were attentive to our needs. Food was very good, I really enjoyed both my appetizer of Italian Eggrolls, and my meal... the linguini with shring, crab and lobster, all out of the shell. I forget the full name, but it was the first pasta on the list "XXX Ravi". Dinner was a generous portion without being overwhelming. Would definitely go back again.
The food was very good and the staff was courteous and most accommodating. We were referred by friends and found their recommendation to be spot on.
I've been going to Gavi for many years when I travel to the area...may very well be my favorite Italian restaurant anywhere!!!
We have eaten here before and liked it better. I would recommend sticking to the homemade pasta.
Service was extremely slow and food was lukewarm. They did not have enough staff for the crowd there for music .
The restaurant was exceedingly noisy. Had to scream to be heard at a table of 4. People at larger tables are seated adjacent to smaller tables and are very inconsiderate. The food was fine and the service was fine.
Very cozy afternoon /early dinner service was impeeccable and food was excellent Restaurant wasnt crowded so noise was at a minimum
We had a fabulous veal dinner and danced with friends afterwards. It is charming and the service was great. Loved every minute of the experience.
Wonderful dinner in a wonderful restaurant with wonderful ambiance. A great spot to enjoy an Italian meal with good wine and nice, pleasant service. It's everything one would want from a local place in Armonk, New York.
Too noisy......couldn't talk comfortably with our friends....which is why we usually dine out.
Excellente ... the owner Franco is awesome, friendly he has a ❤️ of gold . Your reservation is on time he is a special owner as they come awesome restaurant 👍🏻
Delicious food.. had the branzino which was flavorful and perfectly prepared. Tasty ceaser salad.
Nice place and good service, unfortunately me and my wife got disappointed with the food. My wife asked for a chicken which came dry and without any flavor, I ordered pasta which was well coked but with lack of flavor, supposed to have lobster broth… (probably a tea spoon). We had an endives salad which was the best of the meal, not tried desserts
This was our third visit and We enjoyed it as always.
The new renovation took the charm and quiet of the old Gavi away.. it is noisy beyond belief, you cannot hear yourself speak.. the service was fair, the food was ok but the menu unappealing.. the host was extremely unfriendly
Gavi always turns out to be the perfect place to grab a good meal with good service in a friendly local joint. The restaurant serves consistently good Italian fare.
On the night we were at Gavi, the service was beyond bad and inattentive. We were at the table one hour and forty five minutes before receiving our entrees. Two of us ordered salmon. One piece was generous and the other was puny.
First time here surprised at how all around terrific the food, ambience and service was. Exceeded my expectations. Would definitely return.
