basically its fantastic the staff charming and the food excellent. whats not to like ?
Excellent food, attentive but not intrusive service, surprising value.
Our meal was very good in that starters, amuse bouche and sweet were excellent, however the duck pot au feu was chewy, against expectation.
Excellent food, excellent service and excellent value as always.
We have been to Gauthier a few times. This time the service was poor. The wait for a drink menu took forever and once we got it we waited for over 1 course to get the drink. Then the drink was spilled. Then we order a second round and that took two courses to arrive. My water glass was empty most of the night and I kept having to ask for it to be refilled. For a five star dining experience where we spent a great deal of money you don’t want the service to be awful. Very disappointed with my most recent experience.
We have enjoyed eating at Gauthier Soho the past several trips to London (from the US). It has two floors of small dining rooms, kind of like a house - and ours had a cheerful fire in the fireplace. The food is beautifully prepared but not overly fussy - elegant but relaxed dining. Lots of tasty amuse bouches, a couple of tasting menus and 3-, 4-, or 5-plat dinners on the a la carte side. My black Alaskan halibut was so good - and my husband was very happy with his duck egg, followed by sea trout. We each had a cheese plate with our own preferred selections; the wine list is extensive and reasonable. If you're looking for something special but not in the stratosphere, this is a lovely choice.
we went for my husband's birthday and were very well looked after. The food is excellent and the set lunch menu is first class especially the deluxe which comes with a glass of champagne and two other matched wines plus coffee and petit fours! outstanding value for cooking of this quality. Great service, Best to book ahead.
Really just a gem of a place to go to, very much so looking forward to returning.
As ever, the staff are extremely pleasant and attentive, without being intrusive. Both the food and wide were most enjoyable. The atmosphere is relaxing and not too noisy.
Great service. Wonderful sommelier. Value for money.
Wife and I had the deluxe lunch menu. Lovely. No complaints. All dishes were excellent. Tom Yum risotto was stand out, as was the halibut. Wines were great. Caramel mille-feuille was fabulous too. Coffee was good as well...and one of the best macarons I've ever had, and I can usually take or leave them! Thoroughly pleasant and enjoyable afternoon!
we always enjoy coming here. its a very special experience which has never failed. a lovely and intimate room great service and outstanding food.
Oh how I love this place. My friend and I go each season when the menu is changed. The De Luxe lunch is amazing value, even with the supplements.
The staff are great, the food was amazing, especially the beef. I can't wait for my next visit!
We have been here on a number of occasions and it never disappoints. Food and service are wonderful. Food is very imaginative with great taste combinations. Why this restaurant doesn't get more publicity is a mystery.
Loved it. Thank you
Made my birthday really special and took care of dietary (coeliac) requirements with no fuss.
The vegan tasting menu blew my expectations away. Every dish was tasty and well thought out beyond description and made me change the way I think about creating my own food.
My umpteenth visit, and as good as ever. I always like Gauthier's, and it has, so far, always come up to expectations.
The place is lovely, in an appartement like setting, with candles and white table clothes. The staff is friendly, helpful and professional.
I chose Gauthier because they offer a vegan tasting menu (8 dishes). Admittedly, I’ve had better vegan food (some dishes could have been more refined, lovely desserts though) but just delighted with the fact that I can eat a whole vegan menu in a fine dining restaurant.
We had a wonderful meal to celebrate our anniversary! The food, ambience, wine and service were all impeccable. It is our go to French restaurant when we come to London from the USA for theatre.
