fabulous vegan tasting menu which reinforces the fact that a wonderful chef using beautiful ingredients can make vegetables the real star of the show! wonderful balance of courses.
Had the Vegan taster menu with accompanying wine. This was nice, I found it difficult to understand our waiter which was annoying. The food was very nice, but I expected more. Enjoyed the visit but wouldn’t return.
We have had lunch here many times now and have never been disappointed. A few different faces in the team this time but all delivered excellent and attentive service. I don't think you can't go wrong with the Version Deluxe lunch menu.
Excellent food. Service was a little too quick initially but slowed down on request. The overall experience was extremely good.
A real treat to experience such good vegan food! The service was excellent: lovely waiting staff, who were attentive without being intrusive. We (there were two of us having the vegan tasting dinner menu) really liked the carrot tartare ground at the table. Doing that added to the sense of occasion and I love getting a little insight into the food we are eating. We very much appreciated the ambience with the low, candle-lit lighting, and especially the noise level. So many restaurants and cafes make the mistake of having too many hard surfaces so they become noisy. The carpet makes a big difference and helped create a feeling of intimacy. We enjoyed being seated at a round table as neither of us like having our backs to the rest of the restaurant. The only suggestion i would make for change would be to have some music (low level). Thank you for a great experience. We really do want to go again.
As always excellent service, first class food and at a bargain price
First time to the restaurant based on a colleagues recommendation.
Food and service exceptional and very good value.
Will be back!
Loved the performance at Gauthiers. One waiter could have smiled more but otherwise perfect!
Very good service for begining to end of the diner. Lot of choice in the menu with high quality food. Recomended!
We booked 12.30 Saturday and in hindsight it was too early as we were the only 2 in the room until about 1.30. Not the restaurants fault but felt awkward. Service kinda took time to warm as well and like they didn’t really know what do with us. All a bit stilted. We went for the lunch tasting menu which is great value. The Faux Gras was well Faux and a bit pointless but the signature risotto was a triumph and arguably the best dish. We then had the Black Halibut which was a little under seasoned and bland. We then had a wonderful Venison dish and a stunning dessert. Wine list is pretty punchy with big mark ups but I found a great Kiwi Pinot Blanc at £47. The sommelier was pretty timid so didn’t really engage but I fortunately knew why way round the list so just cracked in with it. So to sum up the place needs to be busy and I think a balmy night for a classy good value meal would have been perfect as the place has a great vibe once it’s full. Just don’t do weekend brunch until well after 1. Some superb cooking though...just keep the wine in take down otherwise your in for a hefty bill. Will be back
A beautifully presented restaurant with a sophisticated vibe. The staff are friendly and efficient whilst not being at all intrusive.
The dining experience was stunning; the Vegan tasting menu with paired wines was excellent. The flavours of autumn presented in a subtle yet powerful taste explosion with innovative presentation ideas and all delivered exceptionally.
Thank you Gauthier for taking Vegan fine dining to the next level!
This was my second visit for the deluxe 3 course lunch at Gauthier. Everything was as fabulous as the last time, but my friend and I did notice that it wasn't quite so generous. We were surprised at the items on the menu which came with £8-10 supplements, this wasn't the case last year and we felt that the restaurant should keep to the deal and offer appropriate dishes without supplements. Just little things like the petit fours were much smaller this time also. Probably not enough to put us off altogether, but maybe look for other places instead of guaranteeing our regular return.
We were a 4 but one of our number had not been before, he was so (rightly) impressed.
The Deluxe set lunch must be the best quality/value in London and you also get an amuse-bouche and a pre-dessert. The wine pairings which are included are first class. Also, if you have a vegan or vegetarian in your party this is the place for them.
Lovely food. Superb service. Always a nice meal out.
Really good food, one of the best,but..
the service was dire, lots of staff but not properly managed. We arrived at 6.30 but we didn't order till after 7, we had to ask twice for the wine list. When our white wine came it was at room temperature. The bread came after our first course!! Throughout the meal we were sat with empty wine glasses, service was slow between courses. After we had finished our meal and asked for the bill we had to ask again to get our remaining wine poured, still warm. We deleted the service charge, the waiter then started arguing with us!!
A restaurant for a special occasion. A great vegan tasting menu...a treat to have this quality and level of cuisine available for a vegan! Nice and cosy and intimate
Delicious vegan tasting menu with attentive and friendly service. The passionate and extremely knowledgeable sommelier helped us choose excellent wines to complement the dishes too.
Food was innovative, filling and stunningly fresh and delicious.
Excellent menu choices, food delicious and beautifully presented. Intimate setting - we will be visiting again.
Amazing food well served with interesting wines explained by a knowledgeable sommelier. It's a joy to eat here.
Almost all the dishes were well made and enjoyable, but only one or two of the 15 or so that we shared over two tasting menus were standout (truffle risotto and tortellini and the venison) and only one of those was from the vegan menu that has attracted attention.
Service was functional and impersonal with the exception of the Somm’ who clearly loves his craft but speaks so quietly as to be barely audible.
At this price level, Gauthier needs to do more to compete with the very best London restaurants.
This was the first time I've had the lunch tasting menu. All the dishes were most enjoyable and the sequence was very well balanced. The venison was particularly good, and the wine pairing made it a most enjoyable experience. Service was also most attentive.
A really good feature of this restaurant is that they still have tablecloth. With the carpet, curtains etc. And with more space than many others the noise level is much lower, and the atmosphere is much more relaxing.
Great place for an important business meeting or romantic celebration. Interesting choices with every course and excellent wine list with something for everybody. Not cheap though but the skill shines through making it a restaurant to remember
Really lovely staff, delicious vegan food, only partial downside was waiting for the bill but I think they were switching over for dinner so our servers changed. Will definitely be back.
Fabulous vegan food, a real treat.
Wonderful consideration given to one of our group who has serious food allergies.
Lots of information given about the food which was very helpful.
Wonderful for which was beautifully presented. We have eaten in 3 star Michelin restaurant and Gauthier was far superior. Would highly recommend.
We had a wonderful experience eating lunch here. Truly delicious food, impeccable waiting staff, a relaxed atmosphere. Like eating at a good friend’s house. Loved the vegan touches too.
Yes of course! This is not our first visit and wont be our last. Each time, we have been thrilled by the quality of the food, the seasonal menu and the attention to detail. This was again for my husbands birthday and becasue we had lived in France in intervening years possibly 5 years since our last visit BUT somehow we were still suprised with recognition of his brithday at the end of the evening with no prompting - thank you! We have recommended Gauthier to friends who concur with our praise and so long as you are there we will Keep coming back, thank you to all the team x
Wonderful everything! Can't wait to return.
My friend and I have been to Gauthier many times and have always enjoyed our meals there, from food to service. Not quite sure why, but the service was not as great as usual that day and the food, although good, was not inspiring. I enjoyed the meal and will go back again, but it was disappointing compared to the meal I had there with another friend in August which was superb in every way.
The room, the young French staff and, of course, the food (I had the vegan tasting lunch) was the best I've had anywhere.
I'll be going back when I next have the chance to be in London.
Outstanding food service and customer care. As a group of three we were unanimous in our view that this is our top restaurant. The care staff go to in providing excellent service in a discreet manner is refreshing. Nothing is too much trouble, the atmosphere is relaxed and you can really enjoy the food and wine. We had the lunchtime tasting menu and recommend it highly. We cannot wait for our next visit.
What a find! 3 out of 4 of us had the vegan tasting with wine pairings - an amazing treat. A very different and interesting experience, blending in the style of Mayfair dining with the buzz and quirkiness of Soho. Would definitely recommend!
This was a birthday treat for us both and lived up to expectations. We had a great evening and were very well looked after.
The location is lovely as ever, but the service was slower and less attentive than usual. Plates were not cleared for some time and one order was not taken correctly.
The staff were, however, charming.
The food is a notch below what it used to be - it is not as visually attractive as it has been and the flavours are also less interesting.
The £50 deluxe lunch deal continues to be a super price for a full meal.
Great food and value for money service was excellent. Best lunch in London
Outstanding tasting menu and one of the most creative restaurants in London where quality and service is guaranteed. The tasting menu was extensive and good value for the quality of the course and presentation. If I was to be picky-I preferred the superb risotto in the days when the truffle was thinly shaved over the rice rather than what seems now to be a ‘crumble”.And I am aft Raif I still think a red burgundy served with the stone bass should be a white burgundy but then ——hardly something to stop me going back time and time again.
As stylish as ever with impeccable service. Food excellently prepared and delicious. Cheeses unadventurous; we would have liked some not as easily bought in supermarket.
Our table was a little close to the service area (late booking so can’t really complain).
Only real complaint was staff plumping up cushions and removing items from tables as we were the last to leave. It was obvious they were packing up, therefore I asked for coffee before we had finished dessert.
Delighted by our first visit. Attentive team; hardworking kitchen producing an array of excellent dishes; well balanced and cleverly judged - standouts included truffle risotto, scallops and venison. All thoroughly appreciated.
Everything was perfect until the end. Asked for a cab Received a slightly indifferent attitude and didn’t bother to return to table to say they couldn’t book one.!! Not the standard that we have had on previous visits!
Yes, Very high standard of cooking. Obviously a very accomplished chef and waiting staff very well drilled.
