On the rural banks of the River Thames, in the quintessential London neighbourhood of Richmond, sits our iconic boathouse restaurant and waterside terrace, which in the summer hosts another of our ‘Asado’ outdoor barbeques. A striking centre piece of our terrace boasts one of London’s oldest Plane trees, a beautiful feature for arguably one of London’s most sought-after alfresco dining spots.
With our panoramic glass-paneled exterior we have glorious 360-degree views of Richmond Bridge and Petersham Meadows from our well-dressed dining-room and bar. An idyllic location for those long weekend lunches after a dog-walk in Richmond Park or for gathering the family and friends to celebrate those special occasions.
So, when you next take a stroll along the towpath, join us for an unforgettable steak, sampling our superb Argentinian beef and British seafood, or relax at the bar with a glass of wine and watch the boats sail by.

Love the service from the moment we walked in, we had a table by the window over looking the river . Food & service very friendly, served by the Italian waiter Daniele.
Thank you for suggesting the new bottomless Sunday roast. Booked already and see you soon gaucho
great restaurant, food is great , wine selection not to be either and service welcoming and professional .
always great to walk around the area
Excellent food, location and service. What more can you ask for?
Excellent food - not cheap but decent value and the quality was outstanding, and really lovely service. Just very noisy, with a dated 89’s vibe.
If you enjoy a steak, then this is a fantastic place to go.
Wine was not the best value though
The food was fantastic and the service was superb.
Great food and location. Perfect for special occasions.
Nice place near the river. We went mid week in the day so very quiet which was great. All good.
13th being a Monday was very quiet. few customers and unfortunately a very rainy and windy evening.
getting to the restaurant was a bit daunting as it was our first time here in Richmond at Gaucho,.
the excellent service and delicious food made up for all this. we were celebrating our daughter's graduation, and a special dessert from the kitchen for her was indeed very thoughtful.
will certainly visit again on a sunny dry day!!!!!!
We did enjoy the lunch overall however - they made the bottomless Sunday roast very difficult. Menu said it was on til 6pm but everything seemed to be finishing at 3.30 so they made us feel we were a hassle requesting food. The food when it came was very good especially for the cost.
The team need to be trained on decanting wine- I’ve never seen a bottle shaken up so much as being served!! Would take 2 mins to learn how to pour to not get sediment
Birthday meal. Sunday roast was exceptional
We had the bottomless Sunday roast and a bottle or Malbec. Everything was absolutely brilliant from start to the end. It was our 4th wedding anniversary and they even got us a cheese plate with inscription on it. I definitely recommend this place and will come back very soon.
Great location along the riverside. We were a party of 3, myself, my husband, nineteen year old son and dog. When we arrived we were warmly greeted at the entrance by a number of staff and a huge fuss was made of our little pug Pebbles. Our coats were taken and we were quickly shown to our table. We were given some menus and our drinks order was quickly taken. We all opted for the bottomless Sunday roast and were not disappointed. Unlimited delicious beef and lamb with all the usual accompaniments. Our server was amazing and kept bringing us extra meat throughout. The bottomless lunch was certainly worth it for my son and husband, not so for me as I know my limits!! We would definitely recommend for the food quality, superb service and great bustling atmosphere the restaurant had - well done Gaucho you ticked all the boxes.
We were given a table which wS laid for 6 but would easily seat 8 for 4 right by the kitchen entrance and toilets. My view the whole evening was of the waste food bin which was overflowing and not pleasant!!!! Two of the guests were celebrating their birthdays and such a large table made it difficult to converse so the evening was slightly spoiled. Also the meat platter where you choose which cut you wanted was not offered to us even though it was offered to other diners. Ok for me but two of the guest hadn’t been before so they missed out
Great welcoming by the receptionist, attentive service with great food.manager made the point of thanking us for visiting, made us fell welcomed.
Be back soon
It's a bit pricey but it's worth it as the quality of food, in particular meat and wine , is outstanding.
Service and ambience are really good too.
This felt like an experience, with a relaxed and comfortable setting and attentive but not over bearing service. The food was outstanding. It’s not a cheap restaurant but it felt like good value when factoring in the quality and detail presented. It was one of those meals that you’ll remember enjoying. Warning to the herbivores however, it is a meat heavy menu and I suspect if you’re not a fan that you might feel the options were limited. Not a problem for us though - we both enjoyed a gorgeous steak and trimmings. My husband was particularly please with the options as he likes a well done steak - and so the marinated option means he didn’t end up with the usual tasteless shoe leather.
Insulted by the waitress, when I asked did they have onion rings I was asked did I think this was a pub🤷♂️🤷♂️
Food was beautiful in a great surrounding.
We had a late lunch, fantastic service with a great atmosphere. Great value for money
Great service and excellent food, as you would expect.
We are visiting Gaucho for several years, in many areas of London. Nevertheless, for four years we prefer the Richmond store for the NYE as it's close to our house. We know that we will get the best food and service. However, it's not a surprise to us anymore that even we make a reservation a month before, we won't get any better service from the hostess as we will have to wait from 15 to 30 min until they found a table. Generally, they are treating us like walk-in visitors. A table next to the door or the corridor is what we get each time. There is no respect to reservations, I have already complaint the previous years, and they offered vouchers to return throughout the year, which we never used, because our point is to address their reservations, and not to get something for free. This year we didn't spend as much as we used to the previous NYE only because they never address this matter, the manager was there and didn't care, and when I complained to the hostess for the table they provided after 15min waiting, she said sorry and left. The cherry on top NYE with a TV on Sky news for the countdown. The managing team did not even bother to organise the countdown, all the visitors around us were confused if the year changed or not because the Gaucho team gathered at the bar celebrating and the year hadn't changed yet! We won't return anymore, even our waiter -Prokopis was a brilliant person, he did a fantastic job, but he was only temporary there.
A friend and I decided to have our New Years Eve dinner at Gaucho Richmond.
Our table was ready on time, service was impeccable and our food was delightful.
We also opted to have cocktails at the bar instead of dessert - having worked in hospitality I know NYE is a tight schedule on tables and we were stuffed - we were given another round of cocktails at the bar as a thank you from the manager. Very nice touch and completely unexpected.
We look forward to returning.
Really good food and staff were very pleasant - enjoyed it very much!
We love coming to Gaucho Richmond, always well looked after by all the team, managers always make us fell at home. We will be back again soon and can’t wait to seat on the amazing terrace overlooking the river. Thank you Gaucho for the fantastic experiences during 2019!
Friendly welcomed by the reception team, fantastic atmosphere with amazing service, superb food.
Great location by the river side
Service was extremely poor, food was great, furniture look very used, restaurant needs a refresh in terms of decoration
Nice setting and good of usual high standard
We had lunch for our 1st Wedding Anniversary, the team made us feel really welcome and special and the food was amazing... steaks of course, cooked exactly as we had asked! no steak snobbery here 😁
Food has deteriorated here over time - probably due to inability to keep standards high due to volume of custom - service was really poor - too many customers not enough staff
hey ho - plenty of other good places to eat...
Don't think I will be back to Gaucho somehow
Amazing food & service with great value for money.
Loved the atmosphere clearly very well managed, will be back again soon. Beautiful views too by the river side. Well done Gaucho
It’s was the best steak and wine I had. Staff were very friendly. Awesome experience. Thank you.
Booked for 8.45pm. Table not ready until 9.15pm and only then when I complained. No apology.
Food was good but expensive for what it was.
I went on Saturday lunch at the Richmond branch of Gaucho. The cocktails, the wine and the food was delicious. The service was professional and helpful. Highly recommended.
Just amazing. One of the best sirloin in my life. Tremendously tasty! I was with Customers for an executive dinner, they were impressed too.
Great friendly service from the moment we arrived.
Food & atmosphere made our day. Loved the Wine recommendation by our very knowledgeable Waiter thank you Gaucho, we will be back soon
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal of main and dessert courses. Fabulous meat. Restaurant was quiet, probably because it was a Monday, but suited me. Would definitely go again with meat lovers for a special occasion
Waiter got the order wrong, manager would not honour the free side gift given for that evening, bill charged for a whole bottle of wine, even though only one glass was ordered.
Very nice meal. Steak was well done as ordered but still juicy and tender. Service very good but could ask if we're ok a little less. All round good experience.
Disappointed with my recent trip her for a birthday dinner. Very noisy and crowded room. Food was nothing special, my steak was very disappointing and tasteless. The worst bernaise sauce I have ever tasted. Definitely not worth the money. Our waitress was pleasant and informative but felt like she was rushing us. Very pricey for what it is. Definitely would not go back.
Food was amazing, staff were very friendly and polite. Thoroughly enjoyed my birthday meal with friends
