The restaurant was closed but no body contacted me to tell me. We found out when one member of the party arrived at the restaurant to find a note on the window to say that the restaurant was closed due to a leak. Appreciate things happen but it’s unacceptable that no one contacted me. The booking was for a 40th birthday party and we ended having to walk around the area to find somewhere else to go for lunch. I did call Gaucho’s who told me there was an error on the system and that is why I didn’t get a call - pathetic. I was offered a table at another restaurant but we had plans for the rest of the day in the same area. Poor all round really.
Unfortunately, despite receiving your email confirming the reservation and having travelled to London with a friend, the restaurent wasnt even open, appalling service from open table and the fact you are now asking me how the experiance was, i am staggered.
I booked this restaurant on 09.02.19 as a surprise for my daughter's 16th Birthday on 08.03.19. We travelled from Leeds to London Kings Cross and after checking into our hotel made our way to the restaurant via the London underground to find it was closed!!!! At the time of booking I entered my mobile telephone number and email address but never received any contact from Gaucho to advise me of the closure which was due to flooding according to a sign on the door. Not only did we miss out on a birthday meal but incurred the cost of travelling on the London underground for a wasted journey. Very disappointed with Gaucho customer care.
Booked a table for dinner for 5. Got an email to confirm my reservation a day in advance, which I did. Arrived with my guests the next evening only to find the restaurant closed with a note on the door saying they decided to close on short notice and a telephone number to contact. I was not informed in advance, and no-one picked up the phone at said number so I ended up with no dinner table for my guests.
Horrible! Service and kitchen and atmosphere, everything was an absolute disgrace for Gaucho restaurants.
When we arrived, the table was not ready. It’s ok, it happens. When we got downstairs, apparently the table are squished together - looks like there is some sort of renovation going on. And we did not know !
Our waiter was completely oblivious of any standards of service - tried to leave the same fork and knife in between courses, left an empty wine bottle sitting on the table throughout the whole dinner, did not top up the glasses. We felt forgotten and abandoned by the staff.
Food - horrible sausage starter, too salty, over cooked meat, greasy peppercorn sauce. Items that we wanted were not available on the menu. Spinach was bland and undercooked

I don't usually write reviews but on this occasion have felt compelled to do so...… From the moment we walked in we were made to feel extremely welcome... as we were celebrating a special occasion we were offered a glass of champagne by the Italian head Maître D' who was exceptionally helpful. Thereafter our waiter couldn't do enough for us and throughout the whole meal was absolutely fantastic
And all this before we had even tasted the food

This was my first experience of Gauchos after being recommend by a friend and we only had 1 hour before heading to a show and the staff were very attentive, quick with food and even brought out a happy birthday dessert plate for my partner.
The 3 course set menu is great value for money, the dishes are still delicious even though it is a set menu.
Would highly recommend and would want to come back when we had more than an hour to enjoy the restaurant.

The food is just on another level to anything I have ever eaten. I came on a team lunch last year and decided I just had to come back when I could. The service such as the waiter is excellent and they see that you have everything that you need. The food arrived in a timely way and was cooked just as amazingly as it was the first time I visited. I don’t have any critisms at all the entire experience was divine. I will definitely be making a return trip in several months as Gaucho is a treat

The food is just so good! A bit of a strange atmosphere but the service was very good. It is very expensive but I think the food warrants it.

This is my second time to a Gaucho restaurant, but the first time to Charlotte Street and took my sister here for her belated birthday meal. She was happy with my choice when I'd sent her the menu. I love the interior of these restaurants with the cow hind seating, black and white theme and the dark mood with the low lighting. The food is always a winner, the best Argentinean steaks in London. Our waiter and maybe the manager (if only I have their names to thank them) made our dining experience pleasable by as I got mixed up on my booking for the dine for £25. Even before our starters, the bread with the chimichurri was a hit, better than what I can make by far and the starters - Empanada didn't fail either. The main Chorizo Sirloin (sister) and Cuadril Rump (me) cut with such easy, the juices just flowed. No room for dessert as we were stuffed on a 250g, but we had a great meal and would go again, but want to try all the London branches!
50th Birthday, the hostess wished me a happy birthday and that was it!
Restaurant was busy, but most of the steaks were being returned.
We had scallops which were bland and at over £17 not worth it for 2. Steaks were nice but not rested so plates were swimming in blood, which meant sides were ruined, although the fries were so dry not much else could ruin them.
Poor waitress was run off her feet whilst maitre de just looked on.
Really a 2 star experience at a 5 star price, we paid close to £200 for 2 people and were totally underwhelmed and will not be back.
The Main dinning area was flooded, wasn't notified of this at time of booking or follow up confirmation call on the day, the dining are we were seated in was small and the seating was packed with other dining members being extremely close to on another, the ladies toilets were very smelly, unsure if due to flood issue, two of our friends requested steak medium-welldone, waiter advised recommendation was medium due to cut, both steaks too bloody, sent back and was still to rare for them. Manager was very good and took off bill, however not great experience as two people were eating and two people waiting

Normally a very good restaurant, but with the water damage that has forced the dining room into the bar, it will be too loud and it feels stressful. Still great food and service, but not the class you pay for.
Always have had a positive time here and make it the place to go for special occasions.
Tonight was planned for a long time - the restaurant was flooded so 3/4 of it shut down, squashing everyone into a mezzanine level instead with no explanation before or during, it was a claustrophobic dark space with tables pushed right up close to one another, our waitress was wonderful and friendly but this place is definitely fading. cutlery not clean, table a bit chipped, our pricey cocktails sat at the bar for ages after they were made, its a real shame - we want it to be the special place is once was but Im afraid we are starting to find somewhere else
Service was excellent however food was underwealming compared to the excellent service and food at other gauchos
We had the set menu, which was good value at £25 each for 3 courses. The food in general was good, although rather disappointingly the steak was quite tough. Staff were helpful and friendly although we found ourselves waiting a good 20-30 between courses (slightly on the long side) which was unusual as the restaurant, despite being a Friday night, was only 30-40% full. Cocktails and wine were nice, pretty standard West End prices.
Overall a nice evening in a nice restaurant with good food. Would definitely recommend the set menu, could not justify spending more than £50 per head (reasonable drinks included)

Unfortunately we were squished into the bar area as the main restaurant was closed due to flooding. Took away from the ambience. Not my usual Gaucho experience sadly!
really good view but its very cramped downstairs & not as good surroundings as other Gaucho's I've been to
Closely set up tables make it difficult to have a conversation (especially with a bunch of rowdy blokes next to you). 2 out of our 3 wine choices were not available - it would be smart to add that t the wine list so that you don‘t lose time.... And neither does the waiter, who seemed intent on selling only a couple of the wines.... and the list is rather long...

The steak was very bloody not to my liking. The restaurant had recently suffered from water damage so they had only part of the restaurant open. It was very cramped and uncomfortable, not pleasant.
Came after I sampled your food at Taste of London festival and loved it. The sides for the steak were larger than expected. 1 side per steak is probably sufficient.
However, it was more cramped and noisier than expected.
First of all, the food was excellent, best rump steak I've ever had, perfectly cooked and seasoned.
The biggest problem I had was timing. I took three clients there for a business lunch. The ordering and waiting for the main course to arrive took an age (almost an hour). In the end my clients were forced to scarf down their steak as fast as possible and race off back to their office. People should not be throwing food down when the bill is £242.00 . It really devalued the lunch. The waiters were excellent, courteous and friendly.
It was all really let down by the timing. I don't want to be rushed. but surely on a business day at 1pm there should be an expectation of timeliness.
Good food but Front of House was a shambles. They couldn’t find my booking despite me showing them the email confirmation.
After a lot of back and forth I was told I could only have a table for an hour and a bit. This was at 5.30pm and there were no other diners there.
I was about to go elsewhere when I saw my name on their reservations list.
Very disorganised and a pretty poor start to the evening with no real attempt to recover it.
I used to be happy spending hundreds on a meal at gaucho but they’ve gone downhill.
Lots of better alternatives so I won’t be returning
Having to send Steak back in a steak restaurant and for it to come back and still not cooked to order is disappointing
There was obviously a problem as part of the restaurant was not open and everyone was crowded into the bar area. No reasons given which was strange.
Not a restaurant I will return to again. A real shame used to be so good.
