GATO is owned by Bobby Flay and Laurence Kretchmer who previously owned the Spanish restaurant, BOLO, together for 15 years. BOLO met an unfortunate demise when its building was torn down to make way for a new development. The partners vowed to revive the spirit of BOLO. They are thrilled to launch GATO as its next renewal.

The food was creative and delicious. The staff paced the meal nicely. The Jimmy cocktail was really special.
We had to wait 25 minutes to be seated and the three staff stationed at the front desk made no effort to offer us a drink. Our waiter was friendly but dropped the ball on details (forgot our vegetable when our entrees were served, gave us another table’s check). Food was fine but nothing special. I don’t really see a reason to return with so many other options available in New York.
Gato is one of my favorite restaurants and it never ceases to amaze me how awesome both the service and food is. Many thanks for a great evening.
Great food and great service. A decent sized wine menu and full bar. Highly recommend getting some of the appetizers in addition to your entree. Desserts are amazing as well.
I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Gato. Although the food quality is ok, the seating was extremely uncomfortable. Additionally, the servers were very rude and unprofessional. Also, the restaurant did not have decent menu for beverages, or even a wine menu. Lastly, the overall experience is not worth the cost. Again, a very disappointing experience for an iron chef owned restaurant.
Food somehow managed to exceed our very high expectations. Great eclectic menu that should suit everyone as long as they're not picky eaters
Birthday dinner in NYC. Great location. Service was excellent and food was as well. Highly recommend
One of the most enjoyable dining experiences I’ve ever had. I can’t even write a review because it will not do the food and waitstaff justice. 10/10
Portions small but great
Service was great
This was our second time dining at Goto and it will not be our last. The food is inventive and delicious. The service is welcoming and professional. Please go there!
Took my parents for their anniversary. Fun light vibe and very good food and service.
Very expensive dinner for 4 people. Drinks from the bar were not good at all. Other than that, the food was very good.
The scrumptious food was only surpassed by exceptional service that was honest, attentive and professional. The decor is casual yet chic and comfortable. The noise level was moderate which is a big plus for a NYC restaurant. Gato is a keeper.
Our server was super friendly and they made sure to make it special for the 2 people in our party celebrating birthdays.
I love Gato because of the DELICIOUS food and excellent service
Always an amazing time at Gato. Amazing food and drinks. Truly outstanding.
Great as always. Gato is, by far, my absolute favorite restaurant in NYC
A few things were quite good - the seared yellowtail on the bar menu and oven roasted shrimp, but overall the food fell flat and the service matched. We ordered several small plates and were so unimpressed we skipped opting to pay for a full entree that was likely to be mediocre. We had a nice Sancerre that was very good, however.
Amazingly tasty food. Friendly, attentive waitstaff. Beautiful space, comfy seating. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Always superb !!!!
The food is superb. The portions are small. A bit pricey. Desserts are spectacular. Single bathrooms are a pain. Location is just off the subway. Bobby is often there but we missed him this night.
My second time there. My only gripe is portion size. I think they could be more generous.
Stunning experience! Everything about GATO comes together so beautifully - the design, the service, the atmosphere, and of course the food and drink! My fiance and I went for my birthday- I got the rabbit, he got the swordfish and we shared the portobello mushroom. Great portions that were satisfying, not gluttonous, and didn't leave us hungry but with just enough room to share a dessert. We went with the semolina cake, which they brought out with a candle for me (ha!), and complimentary sips of cream sherry that paired beautifully. WE WILL BE BACK!!!
Beautiful bar and restaurant. The hosts, bartenders and waitstaff were very welcoming. Food was delicious....great flavors and presentation. We would definitely go back!
I was given a gift card for my birthday from some friends for a nice date night with my boyfriend. We were Seated 30 mins late. Seated in the corner behind the bar. We were given two free dishes for being seated late, which was nice, but overall the food was very oily and not great at all.
When it came time to pay, I told our waiter I had a $150 gift card (I called earlier in the day to confirm and was told they had it on file). The manager came over and said he didn’t have it on file. He went back to check, and didn’t even come over the confirm. Our waitress eventually came back and told us it was taken care of.
Definitely won’t be back here again.
I always choose or recommend Gato when the occasion calls for great foot, a wonderful buzz in the room and welcoming service -- and nobody around the table is too price sensitive. It's a special place and worth it! The flavors jump off the plate; who would have thought that brussel sprouts could be as delectable as dessert or that a vegetable forward paella could be so crave worthy.
Our waiter was not attentive, we never got bread at our table, I was given a dirty knife, and the food was not worth the $130 we paid. Do not recommend.
The service at Gato was rushed, clumsy, and uneven. We either had to wait 15 minute to order drinks, or hardly had time to finish appetizers before entrees arrived. Portions were all over the place, the beef being quite small, and fried chicken, quite big. Serving staff seemed overwhelmed and pushed plates over with new plates, making the whole table a mess and quite noisy.
Thankfully, the food was very good, and the restaurant is beautiful. Probably won't be back, though.
Great food, ambiance and decor. Our water was little absent but overall great brunch!!!
We’ve been to Gato several times, and we have never been disappointed. The service was again outstanding, and the food was excellent. We actually went back a few hours later and had snacks at the bar. Highly recommend.
Had to wait 40 minutes even though we had a reservation for our table. They weren’t helpful and just plain rude when we checked in about out table. Overall service is just bad.
Imaginative food and delicious combinations! Tables a bit close together and therefore very loud, but otherwise a fabulous experience!
Food was definitely not up to par and the service was awful. They only brought three of four entrees. When I called the waiter he said “Don’t worry. It will be right out” but he was not nice or apologetic about it. It took at least another 5 minutes for it to come. They also forgot to bring a side dish which I had to bring to his attention. We had to wait for that to come too. Not rushing back.
The service wasn’t great and the portions were VERY small.
Everything about this place was great. Food, service, atmosphere, etc... Will definitely be going back.
Tremendous and delicious. The small bites were perfect size bites with a ton of flavor. My favorite was the eggplant and squid. The wine we ordered was perfectly matched for our meal! Well done
Portion of pasta was so small for 29 a plate. Had to ask for bread as well. Cool vibe if you are looking for night on the town.
Portions were very small.
