GATO is owned by Bobby Flay and Laurence Kretchmer who previously owned the Spanish restaurant, BOLO, together for 15 years. BOLO met an unfortunate demise when its building was torn down to make way for a new development. The partners vowed to revive the spirit of BOLO. They are thrilled to launch GATO as its next renewal.

Absolutely fantastic. Food was amazing as well as James our server and the atmosphere. Next trip to NYC will definitely include a return to GATO.
Exceptional food and atmosphere. I highly recommend for brunch.
The ambiance is fantastic. The drinks were perfect! The burger was soooooo delicious. I highly recommend trying all of the appetizers. They were outstanding. Love the food and quaintness - we will definitely go back again!
We went for an early brunch on Sunday. It wasn’t very crowded but it was noisy in the restaurant. The food was excellent but the portions were inconsistent - sides were on the small side and main dishes were too large for a single person. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive during the meal.
Very trendy cool place. Great wine list and cocktail choice. Food was great. A bit pricey, but what restaurant isn't in NYC :)
Great food and a great atmosphere and a staff that knows the menu very well. Bobby Flay doesn’t disappoint!
Heading to Gato NYC on this trip to NYC was the one thing on my must-do list. Nothing about the experience was a disappointment! I would recommend this place to EVERYONE! Can’t wait to go back!
The food was creative and delicious. The staff paced the meal nicely. The Jimmy cocktail was really special.
What an amazing experience! Thank you for the amazing service and over the top food. From the decor to your waitstaff, it was well worth the wait. We have been anticipating experiencing Gato. Our kudos to Augusto our waiter. Being a business executive I can appreciate having a staff that goes out of their way to make you feel like family. He was truly the best in his class!
Great food and great service. Excellent menu. Pricey but not NYC pricey.
Our server Octavio was excellent and courteous. He answered every question kindly and gave great recommendations. The food was delicious.
One of our best meals in New York City! Décor was stylish and sophisticated yet also very welcoming. Our server Octavio was truly outstanding and made my daughter's birthday celebration a truly memorable experience.
Celebrated my birthday (12/7) at Gato with brunch. Patrick and Billy, the hosts at the door, were welcoming and very nice. They were even sweet enough to pose for a picture! Then they gave me a choice of where I wanted to sit - the lounge, the bar, or the dining room. I chose the dining room.
Dash was my server and I felt comfortable from the start. He was attentive, friendly, answered all my questions, and recommended a glass of Cava when I asked about Prosecco. Thank you, Dash, I'm now a fan! Alex took very good care of me as well. I had the Toasted Polenta Waffle, it seemed like it might have been a little overcooked, but even if it was, it was sooooo yummy! Sweet, followed by a little salty, the ricotta was creamy and crunchy with pistachios, and the fig syrup was a nice touch. The charred tangerine was good and I squeezed a little of the juice on the waffle. Tasted even better than the description. I am ruined for waffles forever!! I could have it every weekend, it was that good.
I ordered the corn muffin and a piece of the Brown Butter Semolina Cake to go. Need to have the spicy surprise in the corn muffin listed for those of us who just...can't! My personality is spicy enough!! So, I dropped the muffin off at my cousin's along with half of the ricotta , toasted almond honey, cranberry jam. I kept the other half as it doesn't seem to have any surprises. :-)
Alex brought out mini biscotti with a candle in celebration of my birthday! It was a very nice touch to end the meal. Brought that home as well. It was tasty this morning.
Had the Brown Butter Semolina Cake today-the cake was flavorful on its own. The combination of the toppings-pistachio streusel, caramelized pears, not sure if it was ricotta or frosting-made it too sweet and overpowered the cake. Would rather a combo to complement the cake better.
Dash - just fabulous, and Alex too. Patrick and Billy were sweet in humoring me as I left. You all helped to make my day wonderful! Thank you!!!
We had to wait 25 minutes to be seated and the three staff stationed at the front desk made no effort to offer us a drink. Our waiter was friendly but dropped the ball on details (forgot our vegetable when our entrees were served, gave us another table’s check). Food was fine but nothing special. I don’t really see a reason to return with so many other options available in New York.
Gato is one of my favorite restaurants and it never ceases to amaze me how awesome both the service and food is. Many thanks for a great evening.
Great food and great service. A decent sized wine menu and full bar. Highly recommend getting some of the appetizers in addition to your entree. Desserts are amazing as well.
Food is amazing and so are the specialty cocktails !!
I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Gato. Although the food quality is ok, the seating was extremely uncomfortable. Additionally, the servers were very rude and unprofessional. Also, the restaurant did not have decent menu for beverages, or even a wine menu. Lastly, the overall experience is not worth the cost. Again, a very disappointing experience for an iron chef owned restaurant.
Food somehow managed to exceed our very high expectations. Great eclectic menu that should suit everyone as long as they're not picky eaters
Birthday dinner in NYC. Great location. Service was excellent and food was as well. Highly recommend
One of the most enjoyable dining experiences I’ve ever had. I can’t even write a review because it will not do the food and waitstaff justice. 10/10
Portions small but great
Service was great
This was our second time dining at Goto and it will not be our last. The food is inventive and delicious. The service is welcoming and professional. Please go there!
Took my parents for their anniversary. Fun light vibe and very good food and service.
Very expensive dinner for 4 people. Drinks from the bar were not good at all. Other than that, the food was very good.
The scrumptious food was only surpassed by exceptional service that was honest, attentive and professional. The decor is casual yet chic and comfortable. The noise level was moderate which is a big plus for a NYC restaurant. Gato is a keeper.
Our server was super friendly and they made sure to make it special for the 2 people in our party celebrating birthdays.
I love Gato because of the DELICIOUS food and excellent service
Always an amazing time at Gato. Amazing food and drinks. Truly outstanding.
Great as always. Gato is, by far, my absolute favorite restaurant in NYC
A few things were quite good - the seared yellowtail on the bar menu and oven roasted shrimp, but overall the food fell flat and the service matched. We ordered several small plates and were so unimpressed we skipped opting to pay for a full entree that was likely to be mediocre. We had a nice Sancerre that was very good, however.
Amazingly tasty food. Friendly, attentive waitstaff. Beautiful space, comfy seating. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Always superb !!!!
The food is superb. The portions are small. A bit pricey. Desserts are spectacular. Single bathrooms are a pain. Location is just off the subway. Bobby is often there but we missed him this night.
My second time there. My only gripe is portion size. I think they could be more generous.
Stunning experience! Everything about GATO comes together so beautifully - the design, the service, the atmosphere, and of course the food and drink! My fiance and I went for my birthday- I got the rabbit, he got the swordfish and we shared the portobello mushroom. Great portions that were satisfying, not gluttonous, and didn't leave us hungry but with just enough room to share a dessert. We went with the semolina cake, which they brought out with a candle for me (ha!), and complimentary sips of cream sherry that paired beautifully. WE WILL BE BACK!!!
Beautiful bar and restaurant. The hosts, bartenders and waitstaff were very welcoming. Food was delicious....great flavors and presentation. We would definitely go back!
I was given a gift card for my birthday from some friends for a nice date night with my boyfriend. We were Seated 30 mins late. Seated in the corner behind the bar. We were given two free dishes for being seated late, which was nice, but overall the food was very oily and not great at all.
When it came time to pay, I told our waiter I had a $150 gift card (I called earlier in the day to confirm and was told they had it on file). The manager came over and said he didn’t have it on file. He went back to check, and didn’t even come over the confirm. Our waitress eventually came back and told us it was taken care of.
Definitely won’t be back here again.
I always choose or recommend Gato when the occasion calls for great foot, a wonderful buzz in the room and welcoming service -- and nobody around the table is too price sensitive. It's a special place and worth it! The flavors jump off the plate; who would have thought that brussel sprouts could be as delectable as dessert or that a vegetable forward paella could be so crave worthy.
