GATO is owned by Bobby Flay and Laurence Kretchmer who previously owned the Spanish restaurant, BOLO, together for 15 years. BOLO met an unfortunate demise when its building was torn down to make way for a new development. The partners vowed to revive the spirit of BOLO. They are thrilled to launch GATO as its next renewal.

What Insiders Are Saying
Gato will remind you why Bobby Flay became famous in the first place - because he can cook.
Overpriced for extraordinarily small portions, even for NYC. Nothing was perfectly cooked either and lacked seasoning.
Delicious as usual and Unexpectedly Bobby Flay was in the house and was nice enough to stop and say hey .. what a bonus!
The food was very flavorful. Wasn’t a disappointment. The pork chop is a must try. Best pork chop tasted so far. We were lucky to get a picture with Bobby Flay. I only wish the portions were a bit more. I ordered the chicken entree for my 9 yr old. ( I assume there’s no kids menu). She said she wasn’t full. After dessert she was close to full. So we ventured to Chinatown to get more dessert.
Good local Soho place for drinks and a interesting meal.
Have always loved Gato but this time found the food uninspired. The halibut was bland swimming in what tasted like a vodka pasta sauce. The small plates were beyond tiny. But kudos for the roasted carrots which were the highlight of the meal.
Very good food, friendly service and clean and scenic.
Nice spot! The combination of flavors were fabulous. The eggplant mini dish and chicken were yummy. I do wish the house mix drinks were more extensive
Service was wonderful and we weren’t rushed. Food was delicious, presentation was beautiful and drinks as well. Will absolutely go back again.
We had a great time and the sommelier was knowledgeable and helpful. Food was delicious but wish they had at least asked if we wanted it to be coursed out as opposed to all at once. We will return.
Throughly enjoyable meal & dining experience. Definitely recommending.
We have loved the food at Gato for years, but it has become less exciting. Also very expensive for what it is..
Food was delicious as to be expected by a Bobby Flay restaurant but the service was well above par too. Our server offered the perfect amount of conversation and his recommendations were spot on! Really helped add to the experience. We were actually surprised by our final bill... because it was less than what we expected and the funny thing is that the couple next to us had the same experience! Definitely a must try for dinner
First visit to Gato. Very good reviews on Open Table and Bobby Flay's reputation led us to choose this restaurant while we visited Tribeca for one night. The food was great and different (in a good way). Our meal:
3 Mini Appetizers (Even as 3 it is not the size of a full appetizer, hence the word "mini")
~Spiced Chicken - Tasty (3 small bites)
~11 Layer Potatoes - Tasty
~Burrata - Good
~Pesto & Ricotta Cheese with Ciabatta Squares - Very Good. Good Size too!
~Black Kale Salad - Good, but too much dressing.
~Kale & Mushroom Paella - A great take on a veggie paella. Delicious.
~Charred Beef - Cooked perfectly (medium) and tasted great. Downside: 3 mini pieces for $42
~Ricotta Cheesecake - To die for....
~Fig Crostata - Good, but a bit too much fig. Less is more.
Wine list was nice and not overly expensive.
All and all a very good dining experience. We would return.
Was there last night. Booked over a month ago for special anniversary. Table wasn’t ready. Stand against wall to wait. Once sat our table was being bumped all night by patrons standing 3-deep at the bar. Obnoxious and saddening. Once in a lifetime trip to NYC is great - Experience at GATO? - NOT GREAT.
Our group of four had a blast. Food was fab, atmosphere was fun, service was excellent. Our waitperson Corey was funny and friendly and helped make it a great evening.
Delicious:) came here last year to celebrate my husbands birthday...and it was so good we came back!
It was a fantastic restaurant to take an old friend who had never been to NYC before. She loved everything and was even adventuresome. The menu here contains so many dishes that I would never order at another restaurant. Bobby Flay’s recipes makes each bite delicious and well- balanced in taste in a very relaxing atmosphere. Thanks for the great service again! We will be back soon.
Seri e staff with attitude, over 30 min wait time for a table.. food average at best..(but pricy)
Really amazing experience at Gato for my girlfriend's birthday. They were extremely accommodating of food allergies and really knowledgeable about the menu and preparations. They were very well prepared for us and set us up in a nice corner table for the occasion. Super Chef Bobby Flay did not disappoint!
The food was great. Service was exceptional. My one criticism is that the appetizers are pricey, scant and hard to share.
Absolutely love Gato!
Loved this place. Thought it would be a little over-hyped because of Flay. But loved the food, atmosphere and drinks! Will return!! Geri from Jersey City
The food was out of this world delicious. Just what I would expect from an optimal NYC dining experience. Very posh, great music playing through the restaurant invoking all sorts of nostalgia. I had the Porterhouse Pork Chop, which was quite a portion, that I couldn't finish. I proceeded to stuff myself with some cheesecake for dessert that was my favorite bite of the evening. I will definitely be returning if I ever make it back to NYC.
We had a reservation for 9.15pm and were seated at 9.45pm without any compensation, this is unacceptable. The food was good but we were too tired and annoyed to enjoy it. We won't be coming back
Had A GREAT TIME! The place is gorgeous and we all enjoyed.
It was really good. Good was great and service was impeccable!
Gato is at the top of our list every trip to NYC. Our son, a student-athlete at NYU, requests Gato for dinner when Mom and Dad visit. We are happy to oblige and cannot wait to return. Whatever the occasion, Gato NEVER disappoints! Thank you for the outstanding service and incredible dishes we continue to talk about at home in N. Texas. #nacho #scrambled eggs #rabbit
Eating here was such a treat. I tried two cocktails. The blend of ingredients was unique and fabulous. We tried three tastes and one entree. All unique and flavorful. We tried two deserts , again both taste sensations. We had a great evening enjoying Iron Chef creations.
OMG. What a find. The food was delicious. Each course has its own definable taste. The quality and flavor of each dish is to die for. We will be back!!!!!!
Came here post-Marathon to celebrate, which our server did not know...but James was our server and we couldn’t ask for any special of an experience! We saved enough room for dessert and we were so happy we did! Affogato, housemade biscotti, Coffee & complimentary Sherry’s to pair with our dessert after dinner. Bobby Flay’s GATO has it going on..so happy we took the trip down to SOHO from Times Square area for this experience. THANK U!
So delicious!!! I can’t wait to go back 😊
This was an excellent restaurant. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, ambiance, staff and service. Exceeded our expectations for Dinner and and the Experience. Truly a Bobby Flay level affair.
We are big fans of Bobby Flay, but have only dined at his Las Vegas locations. We finally made the trip to NYC to run the marathon and our post race meal was Gato. It was fabulous! Food was better than we had hoped and our server was fantastic. Funny, prompt and made great menu recommendations. We would highly recommend Gato to anyone looking for a great meal with very cool ambience.
The food was absolutely delicious as always. We decided to give up our table and sit at the bar, the service was just as good. The music was excellent and Rebecca the manager was so warm and friendly.
Food and service was great from beginning to end! Scrambled egg app is a must. The paella was delicious. Will definitely be back.
Amazing food...best meal we ever had!!!
Great food, service and ambience. Perfect for pre-theater.
The food was excellent as was the service. The small plates were 3 for $21 were very small, but the waiter told us the size before we ordered. I will definitely return the next time I am in the area.
The food & service is good, but the portion is so small for the price, especially for this casual ambiance bar/restaurant. It was so noisy and had to ask to change our table. But it was still very noisy next to the bar. If you are a couple to have an intimate dinner, I would not recommend here. Tables for two are all right next to the bar.
Great food. Fabulous octopus. Great service. the staff is knowlegable and helpful.
