Delicious but not low calorie or healthy. Plan to spend money and calories.
The food and service were great! I would definitely dine there again.
Absoluty delicious! The lamb appetizer was my favorite, the crispy polenta was so good. Then the pappardelle with duck confit was scrumptious. Duck cooked perfectly and the sauce so rich and full of flavor. Our server was very helpful and accommodating. Thw apple crostada dessert was the perfect ending toa great meal.
It was ok, parking was easy..
Wonderful vibe and great food, would definitely recommend for a date.
Though we arrived before time we had to wait to get our table.... i made a request during reservation that it was our wedding anniversary so I expected a small treat or something special to be made for us which didn’t happen... we couldn’t eat most food but unfortunately the kitchen didn’t accommodate our requests...and there are not much choices on the menu ... food portions that arrived were very small even the main course felt like an appetizer portion...the steak we ordered medium well it came to be well done !!
So good! I have always wanted to try this restaurant and they did not disappoint. The food + service was outstanding.
The space was amazing. Our servers were well versed in the menu and the drinks. We will be back again for sure.
I thought it was very good, but I would give it 3.25 stars out of 5. Very good
everything from staff to food is first class. Wife had the paella, I had the halibut and rissotto, all to die for. Definitely returning.
An overall over-the-top experience! The Best ! Service to food was just outstanding! Great wine selection to go with an appertizing menu!
I graduated the CIA in ‘86and worked in Manhattan for 12 year before switching to a more fulfilling career.
Our reservation was for 6pm, a party of 3, and were seated at a very awkward 3-top alongside a couple having an intimate conversation. The dining room was empty. We should have insisted on another table ( we do not like to have to push for good accommodations) we figured the dining room would be filling to capacity shortly, later to find this was not the case. The flavors were on point- everything we ordered tasted great. The shrimp appetizer, Gato salad, duck pappardelle, clam risotto, and mussels with saffron linguini were all delicious. Issue was solely with serving size- very small even for Manhattan standards. Appetizers were small and entrees were the same size as the appetizers. The largest portions were dessert, which were also really nicely done. Without drinks spent over $225 and still left hungry.
Came for the mushroom & kale paella and was not disappointed!! Highly recommend!! Drinks were amazing and every plate we ordered got licked clean. Plan on returning every time we are in NY!
This is the second time I've been to Gato. The service was very good both times however the ratio of the portion of the food served to the price was really poor.
It would be worth a third visit if that wasn't a factor.
Food, service,wine superb.
I must say, bravo to Bobby Flay for opening up this joint on Lafayette. I wish it was there when I lived in the neighborhood because I'd make it point to visit weekly! It was date night for my girl and I and we're happy we went. The wine list was fantastic (although a bit pricey). She had a rose' and I had a red. Both superb. She had the Tarragon Chicken and I had the Charred Beef - Both absolutely No joke, I'd order it again if there wasn't so many other enticing foods to try. We also had the Gato Spreads w/ Buckwheat Pits, amazing. Finished with the DARK CHOCOLATE & TOASTED ALMOND TART PORT GELATO, we both LOVE chocolate but this was just overwelmingly fudge like. Gelato was the bomb though. All in all, I love this place and the food was amazing but it is a bit over priced for me, but hey, who am I, right? Maybe I just know that I can't afford to go here once a week like I want to lol, just being honest!
Staff was great from front of house, bar, dinner service . Flavors were off the charts. Drinks were spot on. Mishap with an entree was addressed properly by the waiter.
Excellent food and experience that is worth every penny.
Delicious, great energy.
Portions are too small though. We had to order 2 pizzas before desserts
excellent gastropub with a touch of Spanish flavour
We are big fans of Bobby Flay and we were not disappointed. We arrived late after a show but they made us very welcome. Appetizers and entrees were delicious and the even comped us a dessert and Spanish Port for my wife’s birthday. Special Thanks to Becky & Alam!
Came here for a date with my husband after reading some very positive reviews. Gato did not disappoint. Everything from the specialty cocktails to dessert was superb. We will definitely come back. Very cool vibe. Must try the mushroom and kale paella and the espresso bread pudding for dessert.
The food was phenomenal! We did a big table sharing Loved everything we ate. Don’t miss the octopus app, paella and date cake. Our server was stellar too!
Food was very good however they did mess up our order
Food and see were excellent as usual. Kudos to the sommelier. She listened carefully and patiently to the type of wine we liked and what we don’t like in a wine . She chose the perfect bottle for us.
I’ve been here 3 times. Each time, quality of food and service declines. Food came out tepid and tiny portions (meant to share) Waiter was less than attentive, unfamiliar with wines and other than taking the order and bringing the check, was seldom to be seen.
Bobby Flay must have forgotten the cardinal rule, make and MAINTAIN good food and service.
We had a lovely meal at Gato while we were in New York for Toy Fair. It was snowing and it looked beautiful to watch the snow fall outside the window during our meal. The food was delicious and while our waiter seemed annoyed that we weren't all ordering entrees, but ordering a selection of items, we turned him over to our side!
My food was a bit burned desert was too salty the service felt systematic without any warmth from entering the door till leaving the place prices are way to high for the quality the restaurant claims to offer.
I’m surprised it got high score
Unbelievable flavors in everything i tasted - my brain was exploding. Really really delicious. I love food this strongly flavored and intense.
Service was very rude and we waited 20 minutes for our reservation. Do not recommend
The noise level is off the charts here! Tables are packed in close and you have to speak with a raised voice to be heard. Food is very high priced! We love good food and came ready to pay but once seated in such a noisy environment, we changed our minds. Had three bites from the choose 3 for $21. The food portion was ridiculously small for the money.
The environment was extremely nice and was amazing for valentines day. In general the food was okay, but the couscous on the rabbit dish was the best couscous i have ever had. It was salty, sweet, chewy, buttery, and there was some crunch to it which I think was very fine crunches of bacon or prosciutto. It was a very good bite of food.
Gato was amazing. Try the shrimp appetizer, it’s delicious!! And the Nacho drink was delicious!!
Food & service were excellent. I will definitely be back.
Great food again by Bobby, such a relaxed and comfortable feel with great food and atmosphere, plus Bobby himself at the bar and in the kitchen! Going back 100%
Good ambiance even if the crowd at the valentine celebration is a bit cheesy but overall was a good experience nor great
AMAZING! My husband, 2 children (9 & 12) and I dined at Gato for my birthday. The service was spot-on and the food was outstanding. My kids were the only kids in the restaurant and I wouldn’t hesitate bringing them back. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. My daughter has a nut allergy which was dealt with with no problems. To top the evening off, Bobby Flay, was there!! After a little wave from my son, he came right over to our table, shook all of our hands, chatted and even let me get a birthday pic with him! Such a wonderful evening! Highly recommend!
Food was good, but should not say Goat Cheese as an ingredient in a dish when in fact it tastes exactly like blue cheese. Not a taste that I like at all. If I knew I would not have ordered that dish. They were very accommodating in rectifying the matter, but would have liked to enjoy my meal.
As a Bobby Flay resturant I expected the restaurant to be at the top of its game. Our waited was the best I've had, knowledgeable, fun and everything a high-end NYC restaurant waiter should be. Now, the food...it was a BIG let down! I had the kale quinoa dish...nothing...looked good on menu...no special taste at all. The Pappadelle was okay. The charred carots had ZERO taste and the brussel sprouts were AWFUL! And we LOVE brussel sprouts...they were just full of anawful sweet sauce that totally overpowered the brussel sprouts. I waited to go here expecting so much bc if was a Bobby Flay restaurant. So embarrassed for him that this is what is coming out of his kitchen.
I do have to sat the focacchio was delicious...that was one thing we enjoyed....
