GATO is owned by Bobby Flay and Laurence Kretchmer who previously owned the Spanish restaurant, BOLO, together for 15 years. BOLO met an unfortunate demise when its building was torn down to make way for a new development. The partners vowed to revive the spirit of BOLO. They are thrilled to launch GATO as its next renewal.
What Insiders Are Saying
Gato will remind you why Bobby Flay became famous in the first place - because he can cook.
They were out of chicken.
A great night.
I was visiting family that lives in the city and they wanted to go to gato for dinner and it was a fun night.
Extremely uncomfortable chairs which undermines the ambiance and the comfort of dining..
The food was very delicious . I wanted to visit a Bobby Flay restaurant
Outstanding!! Should have a Michelin star. Best octopus ever. Everything was delicious. Flavor and texture in every dish. Thanks
Customer service was excellent since the moment we walked in. Food was delicious and a very nice environment! I recommend 200%!!!
Gato was absolutely outstanding!
Food was delicious.
Service was excellent.
Ambiance was very energetic yet comfortable.
Beyond our expectation. It seemed like an outdoor cafe - indoors. The lighting and mood was amazing. Service was amazing. and the food was definitely amazing right along with the choice of wine down to dessert. My husband and I celebrating our 15 year anniversary. It was a perfect dinner and we would return.
Disappointing. Brunch was just meh.
My wife and I had a great time. The food and service were both exceptional.
I’ve always recommended. Toast with the great scrambled eggs was burnt. Pork chop a little tough, rabbit in previous trips is amazing
Dinner with old friends.
My absolute favorite restaurant stuns us again! This was the first time I'd been with just more than one other person (my 3rd overall), and the service was efficient and accommodated us with everything we needed. Kudos to the genius Mr. Flay!!
Octopus, Ricotta, Rabbit, Paella—all outstanding.
Wonderful evening! Our waitress offered great advice on the menu and was very attentive.
We treated ourselves to dinner at Gato and enjoyed the experience. The food met all of our expectations!
Truly unique and unbelievably delicious menu that was very shareable. Staff was engaging and knowledgeable. We had a very special evening!
We were excited about finally getting to Gato and it did NOT disappoint. We did the brunch and every bite was stellar from the small bites to the actual brunch itself. Atmosphere was great and not too loud and crowded. Recommended to anyone.
Food wasn't quite as good as I had hope it to be. Service was A++
We came in on a Saturday night with a 9:45pm reservation for 4. It took about an hour to get us seated but they apologized and got us a great table. Our server was an absolute professional in every way and we really enjoyed a wide variety of items from the menu. I’d recommend coming here but be sure you have your reservation worked out with the front.
Fabulous. Got upgraded to a better table. Food and service was noteworthy.
All around fantastic night...incredible food, festive but low key, great vibe and crowd. Loved it.
Weekend visit w my daughter
We have come to Gato numerous times for dinner. This was our first time coming from brunch and it was delicious! Our drink Becky's mimosa was a nice, tart twist of a typical mimosa. The pomengranate bacon was like candy. My poached eggs with spicy hollandaise sauce were delicious as were the olive muffins and hash browns. As always, Gato is very accommodating with diners who have dietary restrictions. The staff here is the best!
Best Brunch in NYC! Get the polenta waffles!! The food was so comfort food weekend hugs!
OUTSTANDING! Highly recommend getting the octopus, the ricotta, and the paella. This place is great for a small group to share several plates and get a taste of everything. Don't forget dessert!
Service was fantastic! Good however didn’t meet my expectations as I’m a BIG fan of Bobby Flay and honestly thought his food would meet that. The appetizers and dessert were good however our main dish was average. Potatoes with over fried 😝 and oily. And chicken was flavourless.
I was SUPeR excited to meet Bobby - please he made time to say hi. Would go back but I wouldn’t order the chicken.
We travelled from Toronto just to go to this restaurant for a special dinner and it certainly didn’t disappoint. An absolutely spectacular evening! Terrific food and wine and service. The wine sommelier was very helpful in suggesting wine to accompany our dinner. The atmosphere overall is warm and unpretentious. Just an exceptional experience. Also special thanks to our friendly and helpful waiter Augusto. Can’t wait to return.
We had reservations at 6:30, Restaurant was busy and we were sat in 5 minutes. Service was prompt, food was great and several managers took the time to say hello and asked us how we were doing. Bobby Flay was in the kitchen and that created excitement for all around our area. I would recommend this place to anyone who is in NYC visiting for the first time. Great food and great area of the city.
Let me first say that our waiter Cory must be commended ... he was warm, welcoming, witty, and went above and beyond. The food speaks for itself... AMAZING!!! Every dish more impressive than the next. Dessert was good, not great, but the drinks, bar small plates, appetizers, and entres exceeded our expectations. I shouldn’t be surprised that Bobby Flay would serve up the best shrimp, pulpo and paella, but I was. Looking forward to my next visit.
Went for lunch. Service was terrible. They also need some fries on the menu for lunch!
Fantastic food, great service and very accommodating for a large party!
Another great Bobby Flay concept. Excellent service. Excellent value. Beautiful decor and atmosphere. Very polite staff and never did you feel rushed!
Flavors of the food were on another level. The staff was friendly and efficient. I thought the prices were very reasonable for the size of the entrees. Pleasant surprise, not stuffy, fun atmosphere!
Great professional service and some very good dishes. Overall impression for me was of a very well run restaurant with great staff and tasty meals.
We tried a bit of everything on the menu. We all picked our 3 bites, ordered 4 appetizers, entree and veggie dish and of course dessert. The scrambled eggs and veggie paella are a must! The dining chairs could be more better though, not too comfortable.
Even with a reservation, we had to wait over an hour for a table. The restaurant needs better management.
My wife loved her vegetable paella (rice was perfectly cooked), and the chicken tarragon was so fresh and flavorful. James provided outstanding service and, on a snowy Sunday evening when the restaurant was not packed, moved us to a better table (i.e., one not adjacent to a server stand).
