Fabulous, as usual!
Great Boston fun atmosphere... delicious french toast, it has a great ambience and having breakfast before going to SOWA is a great way to start your day!
If this restaurant wasn’t so noisy I think I’d eat here everyday! The food is so amazing! On par and better than many Parisian bistros. The waiter was so sweet. So highly recommend for ANY night!
A colleague and I meet 6-8x a year on Saturdays for early brunch (10am) to chat and catch up. We decided to give Gaslight a try this time. We liked the Prix Fixe menu: great price (for the value) and good variety, including coffee/tea and juice. We both had omelettes (Florentine and Lorraine) which were delicious, and the "Julia Child’s Spiced Shortbread with raspberry jam" was wonderful. The portions are just right. Our waiter, Dillan, was attentive, helpful, and charming.
A plus: my colleague drives in from the 'burbs and as never had a problem finding street parking at this hour on Saturday morning (10am).
We have been many times to Gaslight. Everything was great. We were disappointed with the "Formage platter". The value is very low since the cost of the cheese provided did not exceed $2.00 and we were charged $16.00. Too small portion.
The food is always wonderful and the ambience that of a French Bistro. Tonight we had the best waitress I think we've ever had - kudos to Jess!
Food was very good and excellent service (thank you Justin and Pamela)!
While the brunch food was outstanding, the service was simply horrible. The waitstaff were polite enough but kept disappearing...even when the area around us with only at 50% capacity. If you have literally two+ hours for your brunch and don't mind getting up to find wait staff....even for your check (!) then you will enjoy the food and ambiance.
We had booked a table for a birthday brunch at 10.30am. We had a choice of tables but the wait staff appeared short handed at that hour. Our waiter asked us to wait for milk for the tea one of our party had ordered, claiming he was alone! Our food arrived in good time, but the creme brûlée with two birthday candles I had arranged to be brought at the end of our meal, did not show up until it was embarrassing for me not disclose to the birthday celebrants as to what we were waiting a protracted time for ! Managed really poorly, even though the staff was friendly enough.
We were a big party of 11 people, and despite having a reservation, we had to wait for over an hour to get a table. Even after that, we had to tell them on how to put the tables together, and service was horrible and slow. Never returning here.
It was a wonderful place to celebrate my birthday with my family. The food and service were fabulous and I did appreciate the ease of parking. We will be back. Loved it!
Excellent food and service.
Loved the decor - service very attentive and the full loaf of hot French bread is killer!
Birthday for kid
We did the prix fixe menu for brunch and the food was good, though it could have been better. But for $9.95 with tea and juice included, I'm not complaining. The music would be better if they were French.
Amazing service. Great food. Always a fantastic time at Gaslight. A Boston staple!
The service here is awesome. Me and my wife spent our 5th wedding anniversary here and had the best waiter I could ask for anywhere and his name is David , make sure to ask for him as a server as I will be doing when I come back every time
We had the steak fritte and duck confit for entrees and the beet salad and bone marrow for apps
Beet salad was spot on just wished there was a little citrus in it to balance out the raw beets but other wise it was still really good
The bone marrow was too sweet for us to really enough the actual marrow flavor. If you get the bone marrow make sure to eat it with the pickled veggies as it will balance out the sweetness with a tart flavor
Duck confit was spot on and was really good . Duck was very tender with great flavor
The sauce on the other hand was on the sweet side for my wife
Steak frites was really good with a side of truffle fries . Steak had a really nice beefy flavor ( I believe it was a flat iron steak) and the truffle fries were cooked perfectly with a nice crunch and the aromatic flavor of truffles and parm cheese
We did a wine pairing with three courses and the wine came out after we finished every course!! The service was terribly slow. An hour and a half after we sat down we hadn’t gotten any food! Disappointing.
Third time here over past 8 years. Great French brasserie. Service is A+ from reception to leaving. Validate parking which in Boston is a HUGE bonus. Food good, good selection and choices. Ambiance solid, seemed to be younger crowd. Overall would highly recommend and would go back for # 4 trip!
Gray French food! Started with a perfect crusty hot baguette followed by a delicious pate topped with bacon bits and caramelized onions that was an exquisite combination of flavors. The trout was perfectly cooked with crisp skin and moist flavorful meat on the inside. Then topped off meal with a light lemon soufflé with lemon zest and berries. Great friendly service by all as well. Highly recommend this place for a wonderful meal
I always like the food at gaslight but the service this time around was pretty poor. First we checked in with the host for our reservation and were told to wait at the bar because our table was being cleaned. Then we proceeded to wait 15+ minutes past our reservation time for the table. This would have been fine if we didn't watch multiple parties of the same size as ours (5 people) get seated before us having come in to the restaurant after us. After finally being seated we ordered a round of brunch cocktails and what we ended up receiving were not the cocktails we ordered (e.g., a bloody mary instead of a bellini) . Prior to ordering we also asked the waitress if it would be possible to split the bill into 2 checks and she said yes. Then we ordered our brunch and again the food we received was not the food we ordered. One person in our group got eggs with asparagus instead of the bacon and eggs menu item and another person got crepes with ham instead of crepes with caramelized bananas. So at this point the drinks were wrong and the food was wrong. Finally, we get the check and everything is split incorrectly as well. We ask her to re-split the check into the groups she said she would and she comes back and hands us the re-split check and again they are not split correctly. Instead of trying to get it corrected we just figured out the checks amongst ourselves and left because this was just getting a bit ridiculous. Again the food was great (as long as you got what you ordered) but the customer service was horrible.
Everything was delicious! Such a great place for brunch, and easy validated (free!) parking right next to the restaurant!
We loved the location, the parking and the ambiance. Our hostess was able to seat us early (we called because we ere half hour early for our reservations). Our Server, Pamela, was outstanding. We asked for recommendations and she provided us with a nice variety.
The food was delicious. For apps we ordered the charcuterie board and it was all delicious (not a fan of pate in general), the onion soup was prenominal! My husband had the escargot and loved it. I had the sliced beet salad. delicious. Our meals consisted of the scallops (mine - scrumptious), my daughter had the steak and loved it, my husband had the seafood - can't remember the name of it (mussels, etc). and loved it. The bread was also quite a treat! We had the chocolate cake for dessert and I took home the chocolate mousse home!
My boyfriend and I went to Gaslight for the Taste of Boston menu. The food was unreal! Jeffrey, our server, was very attentive and so polite. All around a great evening!
Delicious food, nice atmosphere although quite loud and the restaurant was only half full. Would not recommend their wine list as they had a 450-500% markup. I suppose that is to be expected but gave me a bit of a shock.
Food was delicious service was great but it was very loud
The food was spectacular. Restaurant week menu with wine pairing felt like a great deal.
They have the best bread in town. Every dish I tried is satisfying.
Service was adequate
Went for brunch get together and two bitchdays. We made a reservation and asked for a highchair and they were right on top of it all. I informed them of the 2 birthdays before sitting and the waiter had it covered! Food was amazing!! Drinks were great!
Tanya is the best! Love the new menu items.
Very good experience overall
It was awesome! I missed my friend and we a great chance to catch up. Food was so good and the service was great! We had an awesome time. Definitely going back :)
Fantastic service in a classic and vibrant atmosphere matched by an excellent variety of delicious options prepared with precision and artistry.
The food here is fabulous. We have not had a dud on any visit.
First time here. Loved everything about it. Can’t wait to go back. Food was AMAZING, staff was superb and the price was right
Had a really nice time with my mother for dinner. We had the bone marrow and escargot to start. She had the Sole and I had the cod, both were fantastic. Finished off with the creme brulee. Our server David was perfect, the manager Eric checked on us during the meal and we had great conversations with both!
It was an amazing experience but the fact that there was a giant light of Boston sports clubs beaming down on my romantic setting kind of unsettled the mood. This place gets an overall three out of five for me because although The service was superb… Some of the food was kind of bland
Here are the pros of Gaslight:
- friendly staff
- hear ambiance
- reasonable food and price
- great location
- the omletts some of us got were mostly egg with little ingredients in the middle.
- I asked for freshly squeezed orange juice and the waiter assured me it's freshly squeezed but it wasn't. At best it was mixed with supermarket orange juice.
