Love the Gaslight! This is the perfect restaurant for a special occasion meal. I recommend ordering any duck dish on the menu. The service is excellent!
I have heard great things about Gaslight and it did not disappoint! I went with a friend for dinner and we both loved our meals. They are currently offering a special 'Apres Ski' menu that includes fondue and raclette. We got the raclette with roasted potatoes and they were the best potatoes I have ever had (and I eat a lot of potatoes); melt in your mouth good. I got the steak frites and my friend got the trout and both were delicious. The ambiance is great as well. I can't wait to share this gem with other friends.
Great service! Excellent food, however the chocolate cake for dessert was a little over cooked. Great place overall!
Although it has been a while since we went to Gaslight, we used to visit frequently. For our first trip back after a year or two away, we decided to go for our 20th anniversary and were disappointed with the experience.
We made a 7:45 PM reservation on a Sunday evening. We arrived on time and were told they were "very backed up" and asked to sit in the bar, with our two teenage daughters. We kept asking for and not getting updates from our server in the bar. After 40 minutes of this, went to the host myself to complain and a table magically turned up.
Once we were seated, the meal started off well, with a good appetizer. However, our main courses then took close to 40 minutes to come out. While our server was apologetic, that didn't help that we were now 1.5 hours + into the evening with no real dinner yet on the table. Once the main courses did arrive our server vanished. So, when we wanted to order the dessert she said she would comp for us, she was nowhere to be found. So, another long wait for dessert and then another long wait for the check.
In addition to the wait, the music selection for the evening was loud and probably better suited for a club than a restaurant. Over all we were very disappointed with the experience, which was very different from the past.
One thing that hasn't changed was the quality of the food, which was very good. Unfortunately, that wouldn't be enough for me to want to go back, which is a shame.
The food was great, the staff wasn’t knowledgeable about the food or wine menu
very convenient free validated parking adjacent to the restaurant!
We come here all the time, its one of our favorite places in Boston. Love the ambiance, the French feeling and the great food, of course.
Went for a friends birthday brunch excellent food excellent service pastry basket is a family favorite!
Yummy. Expensive. Beautiful.
Always a fun venue with delicious food and friendly waiters . A real bistro feel .
The restaurant was full so understandable service is slower but waiting 40 minutes for an appetizer to come out and then another 30 minutes for your entree is unacceptable. The waiter didn’t once check-in to give us updates or offer bread while we waited 40 minutes for our appetizer to come. I also thought it was strange we were given empty bowls for our shells when ordering seafood dishes.
Very good food and charming atmosphere. The fact that they have a parking lot and validate parking is a major plus!
Tight quarters for valentine's day. They put multiple people at one table in order to fit every one.
Came here the other night with my boyfriend for dinner... I had heard good things from a friend, as well as a mixed review about the food from a relative. We decided to give it a shot, and honestly, I was really disappointed! Pros-- very cool venue, big inside, cool ambience, French vibe (obviously). I imagine it's a MUCH better spot for brunch. Cons-- the lighting is so dark that I felt like I needed a flashlight to see my bfs face. The service was really slow, we practically had to flag the waiter down to order more water (it was clear she was working a few too many tables). The lobster bisque was bland (would not recommend), the french onion soup was pretty good, moules frites were good. My biggest disappointment was the steak frites, can you say SALTY, and CRUSTY?! Whatever garlic/herb rub they use on it is wayyy too powerful and salty, and the outside of the steak was legitimately crusted/overcooked. I would give this place a second chance for brunch, but I do not recommend for dinner. I would go to their sister restaurant Aquitaine in a heartbeat before Gaslight again. A swing and a miss!
FANTASTIC! Our waitress Pamela was amazing. She was so kind and welcoming. The atmosphere is warm and calm. The food was delicious.. I recommend the duck. Our time there was truly a pleasure and we will surely be returning. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
