Gaslight Ratings and Reviews
La brunch ne manque jamais! Les crèpes sont délicieuses, en particulier la crêpe française. L'ambiance est très festive, les boissons sont élégants and créatives, et le personnel est presque toujours amical et chaleureux. Allez-y et voyez!
Gaslight was a really fun place with an unusual twist for Boston, very convenient parking validated by the restaurant. The food was delicious and well thought out. We got omelettes and steak and eggs. All were great. The bread basket we ordered with croissant and blueberry loaf especially were delicious. The shortbread that came with the Prix Fixe brunch was just OK. The vanilla French toast, was frankly, a little uninspired compared to the egg dishes. We expected a stronger Vanilla taste or a vanilla laced syrup or cream etc. It was OK French toast and nothing more. Coffee was very very good for coffee afficionados. Kind of a hipster scene in a transitioning area...fun, Parisian, vibe indoors however. Would definitely go back!
Waiter was extremly unprofessional (I’m pregnant and not drinking and said I don’t like to have fun because I ordered a ginger ale). Took an hour to receive our appitzers and didn’t even have bread available during that hour to offer us. Tried to compensate the fact it took so long by offering us a small little container of French fries for a table of 6. Took another 30 min for our meals to arrive after we finished our apps.
This was my third time at gaslight and every time it has been okay, however this time sub par and most likely won’t be going back.
We come here pretty often. The food is dependably good, and the host has always been welcoming. Service at brunch was subpar this time. Server’s mood was tepid, despite our friendliness. We had a difficult time tracking her down for seconds on coffee. She was mostly hanging out by the computer chatting with coworkers. It was pretty clear that she wasn’t a happy person and didn’t enjoy her job.
We’ll be back, because we like Gaslight and others are friendly.
The first time I went for dinner I love it! Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the brunch experience. We had to wait a lot to be seated, it was very busy and noisy. The tables are too close to each other, the one we got was almost imposible to seat and so small that there was no place to put the food we ordered. The food was good but the rest of the experience can be improved.
I want to love this restaurant but I don't. It is so nice inside, esp in the winter. The food is just not great...consistently . The steak frites was very tough and the desserts were definitely not recently made. The molten lava cake wasn't molten at all the creme brulee was cold.
Have been to gaslight many times and have had great experiences before! Went on NYE with a group of friends and was pretty disappointed. The restaurant was pretty slow for being NYE and our waitress was less than thrilled to be there. Not friendly at all and forgot to put one of our sides in. Had loved this place before but won’t be in any hurry to go back.
Had booked a table for 6 on open table but were expecting one more person for dinner making it a total of 7, people at the desk promptly accommodated this request, and were seated at the bar for about 15 mins; before being given a table we'd requested. We got the steak, ravioli, kale salad, escargots, roast chicken, clam and lamb(special of the day) would highly recommend the ravioli, kale salad and escargots. Everything else seemed very average on flavour. What also made it for us was dessert, the chocolate beignets were not very fresh, but the creme brulee was outstanding. I would definitely go back!
Gaslight was great! The food was authentic French cuisine and delicious. My date and I had cocktails and wine, both were delicious. The best part was the dessert, chocolate beignets. They were amazing! The lighting is dark and the music is a little louder than expected, but altogether a great restaurant.
Good service except for the menu. I haven’t been to gaslight in a few months (have been dining at Gaslight since restaurant opened), the menus changed for steak frites, only bernaise sauce as an option now. I asked for the butter or anything else (I can’t stand Bernaise) and was told sorry the chef won’t do anything else now. So I ordered something other then what I came for. Shame, if this is the way Gaslight operates now I won’t be back. I made that very clear to my server, totally baffled how a high end restaurant says no to a food request. Was told they would not do anything else for a sauce??!!?!
I loved the gaslight. The portions were generous, the service exceptional, and the attention to detail was noteworthy. The whole staff is very clearly committed to providing an authentic and memorable dining experience. I ordered the steak frites, and was amazed with how perfectly they were prepared (it’s not too common you find a well-executed medium-rare steak, after all!) The ambiance feels like a Parisian brasserie, although it is a bit dark. I would suggest reading the menu online beforehand - it’s a bit difficult to read with the in-house lighting! Overall, we loved the gaslight and will definitely be going back soon.
Went here for my birthday celebration and were seated on time, even though they were quite busy. Intimate table in the center of all the hustle and bustle so it was a bit louder than anticipated. Seated near the bar which proved to be slightly disruptive since people kept shuffling through the very small spaces between tables (and bumping me with their giant bellies, yuck). Waitstaff were friendly and attentive however overall service was fairly slow.
Food: We had two appetizers - bone marrow and the small charcuterie. Bone Marrow was amazing and delicious - charcuterie was mediocre as there was not enough variety in the meats selection.
I had the Seared Trout as my main entree and it was flaky, moist, and flavorful. I would have died for more of the squash puree, and the Fall root veggies were excellent.
Husbando had the mussels with Fries. We found it very strange that these were served with Fries as it left most of the yummy broth sadly not eaten. The fries were not even good.
Overall good however for the price of some of these items i don't believe we will eat dinner here again. We will be back to try brunch tho!
We wanted to try their special Alsatian (prix-fixe) menu, as we had been to that region of France many times and enjoyed the German influenced French food. Gaslight did a respectable job, although a Tarte Flambee as an appetizer would have been welcome. The choucroute garni and braised chicken were both good, and the Trimbach wine pairing throughout the meal was a great deal. Service was a little inattentive though, which is not typical based on our previous visits. All in all, a good night as Gaslight rarely disappoints, even with a couple of hiccups.
