Nice cocktail list and food was tasty. Very attentive service from everyone
Great service made our experience outstanding. The menu is classic brasserie, well-executed. My goat cheese ravioli was delicious.
Food was great. They bring a baguette for the table, actually we got 2, and they were great. Waitress was very attentive, but the kitchen was slow. Seemed expensive, but I would certainly go back.
The food is incredible! The service was kind of slow and they were out of a few menu items which was strange since we went on a Tuesday night. I also added it was my birthday to the reservation and they called and asked me to confirm the reservation and it it was for a birthday but then did not offer a dessert. Not asking for free food but if they aren’t going to offer anyone I’m not sure why it’s necessary to ask 3 times if it’s for a birthday.
It was a Monday night so the restaurant wasn’t packed. The food was excellent from the detailed presentation to the last mouthwatering morsel!
The appetizer and dinner portions are just right so you can consider dessert...which you absolutely should!
Definitely a top favorite spot for me.
The place and the food were great.... nice people and pleasant atmosphere....
celebrate my sons 25th bd, got a muffin with ice cream for him.... nice touch from the chef.
the salmon I had for dinner with lentils was fabulous tasty.
Food was generally good but a little oversalted and the menu could use some more truly vegetarian options although it is possible to convert some dishes to vegetarian
Service fantastic. Great atmosphere and food. Love this place! Reminds me of growing up in Manhattan.
The scallops were amazing. The overall service and experience was very nice.
One of our favorite spots to dine. It’s reliable, delicious and executed the definition of a French bistro.
Great service and food, best meal I’ve had in Boston!!!
Our waiter was AMAZING and the food was so good! Definitely recommend.
Phenomenal outside seating. Wonderful staff! Food was delicious.
Amazing server. We were in the corner booth in the back by the windows. I forget his name but he was the best waiter I’ve had in years - and I work in sales.
Quality of food has decreased dramatically. We used to love going there for the onion soup, the steak frites and the creme brulee. All three dishes were much worse than previous times.
Onion Soup had little to no Gruyere Cheese, Fries on the Steak Frites had no Truffles anymore, and the Creme Brulee seemed stale and did not taste as good as it used to.
Also, we had to wait close to two hours between our appetizers and entrees, even though we ordered everything together.
Will not be coming back
Lovely experience! Fantastic host, very accommodating. Great food great night!
Not as good as once was. Hostess sat us in a cramped table near the kitchen while half the restaurant was empty. Service was extremely slow, over 15 min before server came to the table and never improved. Food was good, I had the Duck Confit, a signature entre, it was good, nothing special. Others had the salmon, and steak pomme frites, which they liked very much. With so many other options, sadly, not likely to return.
Everything about the evening was terrific — the food, the service, the timing of the courses. It could have been a little bit cooler inside (it was beastly hot outside), but overall it was a wonderful dinner.
Service was very fast...quickest brunch I have ever done. We had reservations for Sunday, were seated right away, quick service and food, and had our bill in hand within an hour! I didn’t expect it to all fly by so quickly. All of our food was very good (croissant, ham and egg crepe, croque madame). I ordered a Bellini but got a mimosa delivered instead, and the Cat’s Pajamas drink was very heavy on the bitters.
We went for brunch and it was amazing! I highly recommend it.
Always consistently delicious. Never disappointed with my meal.
Well executed. Brunch Prix fixe was a great value $12. Cocktails are small though.
Great place to meet friends and spend some relaxed time catching up. Although the wait staff took away our placemats and glasses before we were ready to leave. I have
Never experienced this in any other restaurant
The food was delicious (escargot, beef bourguignon, seared tuna, beignets and fresh bread with amazing truffle butter) but the most outstanding part of our meal was our server, Tanya. She was so friendly, engaging and happy. When I was toying between a salad and the salmon she suggests the tuna and said she'd put it over a salad. It was fantastic. And when we couldn't decide between the chocolate mousse and the beignets she brought a little pot of mousse to dip the beignets into. It was so unexpected and welcome. And of course the complementary adjacent parking makes dining in the City so much more pleasant. I can't wait to go back!
Was very disappointed in our recent visit to Gaslight. Service was painfully slow (at 6 PM on a Tuesday when we were one of two occupied tables), like 15-minutes-in-between-asking-for-another-glass-of-wine-and-getting-it slow. Waitress dropped our board on the table without explaining any of the cheeses/meats. Steak frites requested medium was served well done. Rose was not chilled. Waitress never checked on us during entrees then delivered a bill where we were overcharged for 9 drinks. An easy to fix mistake but it took another 15 minutes to fix somehow. One plus - we sat outside and the patio was lovely in the summer weather.
Gaslight is always a wonderful dining option when we want French food. It’s very good, and the service is really really good!
I like that they have a late brunch on weekends (until 3pm). Their Prix fixe menu is affordable and you get a good amount of food. I love the atmosphere. Service was good but not great. No one noticed that I had an empty water glass for a while and when I asked the waitress got the pitcher and walked in the other direction.
We have frequented Gaslight many times and it has been our go to for our family. This particular evening was a disappointing experience and worth mentioning. First of all, we were sat on the bar side where it was poorly lit and loud and while the dining room had availability we were not sat there. Later inquiring our host indicated he wasn't sitting parties in the dining room which we later watched him do so. We started by ordering appetizers; both they were out of; mussels and shrimp and they didn't think to tell us so when we were welcomed by the waiter? He seemed extremely busy. Our dinners arrived and we had to ask for silverware. While the food was fresh and prepared and cooked as described, we all commented by the amount of salt in our dishes. It will be awhile before I go back again.
Went there for dinner (have also been on other occasions for brunch). Dinner was delicious but service was very slow -- we had to remind them to bring water and the appetizer we ordered.
This was take 2 to make up for a bad experience in February. At least we were seated in timely manner this time. However, they had to comp us
for the appetizer because it was served after the entrees. One of which was excessively salty. The server was pleasant. We only went back because we received a gift certificate from the manager to makeup for the poor service we received during our previous visit. Normally the food is good and the 3 out of 4 dishes were great. But there are so many other great new restaurants in the South End.
Food and wine were top-notch. Very French. Service was great, especially given how busy they clearly were (Fathers Day). Very cool atmosphere
Fathers Day brunch on the patio in on a beautiful, sunny day. Enjoy the free parking.
Lovely French bistro -- I love the decor and food. Probably most similar to Aquitaine, but slightly more hip and not as staid. We've gone there a lot for family brunches. The service has always been good, and it's a great morning to have brunch there then explore SOWA. Love the pastries, good frites.
They made my birthday brunch a lovely experience!
Always a favorite whether for a date or just enjoy some good food
Gaslight is a great little restaurant with a nice atmosphere, authentic French cooking and reasonable prices. It has the feel of a Parisian bistro but without the small portions, high prices and snooty attitude often found in other French restaurants.
The restaurant is easy to get to and offers free parking next door making it a great choice for suburbanites who want to adventure into Boston for a nice dinner. All of our meals were well prepared and delicious. Highly recommended.
We were very much looking forward to this dining experience. Unfortunately, service was awful and 3 of our 6 meals were not cooked well.
Never disappoints food terrific
Duck Confit - fabulous!
