Need to book at 9:45 PM?Other great restaurants with availability.
I am always amazed at the level of service when a restaurant is slow. Servers seem to leave the floor for extended time.
Our particular server was excellent and attentive to details.
Prices were reasonable
We had reservations for 1 PM for 5 people for brunch on Sunday, December 8. We arrived on time and were told our table was being cleared. However that was fake news. We waited 40 minutes (with two children - 10 and 7) for a table. Also there were others who arrived for 1 pm and 1:15 pm and were told the same thing. I finally told one family the truth - there would be a long wait. Plus the place seemed chaotic. So noisy we couldn't talk and the service was rushed and we were brought the check before we were even finished. I think you are greedy for as much money as you can make and allow too many people to make reservations.
We have been before for dinner when conditions were better so I gave you a 4 star rating. The main complaint was too many reservations and thus a long wait and rushed service. Not a good environment for a pleasant meal. We will not come again for Sunday brunch.
I made a reservation and was not seated for 30 mins. The staff at the host stand was completely ineffective and appeared as though they were standing around contemplating their navel, very disappointed. I do not make a reservation to wait more than a few minutes.
Had to wait a bit when we arrived on time for our reso. It was very busy. Food and service were awesome. They had sold thru of a lot a the reds btb. Did they not expect to be busy? Overall I would def be back. Great food.
Our reservation for our party was kept within 5 minutes on a crowded night which we appreciated .
I would recommend certain dishes and not others. The lamb and gnocchi was delicious as were the salads. The fresh baguettes were wonderful. The dessert sorbets were refreshing and perfect.
But roasted chicken was dry , overcooked and unimpressive.. Steak in the steak frites plate was flavorful but rubbery. The “cheese board” was sparse and needed larger portions.
I’d caution a friend that the wine by the bottle is marked up steeply but a wide selection is offered.
Food was great. Unfortunately, service was bad. We had to wait 20 min to get seated even though we had a rezervation. Everything took forever to get to the table, even dessert. The apperizer was the exception. We waited for more than an hour for food after having the apperizer, at which point no one was hungry anymore. We even waited a lot for dessert which was probably pre-made. I had to tell the waiter that he could cancel the dessert if it was going to take much longer, then he brought it in a second - which proves it was just sitting there. However, the check came promptly 5 seconds after dessert.
The food was great. They were particularly busy when we were there, so there was a delay getting our table and getting our server to take our order. Once he came over, the service was good, and the food came at a reasonable time. I would definitely go back, just hopefully when it's less crowded.
We had reservations for brunch at 12:30 after visiting the SOWA market. We waited about 15 minutes for an open table. We loved our meals, drinks and waiter, but our experience was not as pleasant as it could have been due to the very loud music. The dining room itself was (appropriately) busy and loud, but the choice of classic rock was distracting and took away from the lovely French theme of the room. Perhaps choosing music that doesn’t compete with the other room noise would be a better option.
Excellent as always. Great service and the management is amazing! My go-to brunch location in Boston!
Great casual place for brunch or dinner. The food is really good and not expensive. Plus they have parking.
Dinner was great! It was our first time there and we had made reservations. We were seated right
away..it was a Friday night but early. I had a wonderful Endive salad and my husband loved his onion
soup! My steak tartare looked sort of dark and unappealing...but it was so delicious!!!!! A pleasant surprise!
The Friday special was tagliatelle with lobster and my husband loved it! The service was great at first, but much slower as the restaurant filled up. The atmosphere is cozy and warm...but the MUSIC is too loud
and does NOT complement the surroundings. Free valet parking was a very nice bonus, as parking in the area is pretty tough.
Perfect. Great ambiance, food & service is top notch.
We had a really great time. The food was delicious!
With one exception, dining here was an excellent experience. The exception: we arrived 10 minutes before our reservation time and were told that we should wait at the bar until our table was ready. In fact, we were there early in the evening, and our table was empty. Nonetheless, we had a drink, which, for four people, cost us an extra $60. Clearly this was client manipulation for a few extra dollars. Next time we go, I will be aware of this tactic and avoid it.
The rest of the evening was fine. The food was good as was the service. I would go again.
Great! Good food, excellent service. Would recommend
Loved it! Always a great time with perfect ambience for a neighborhood spot that delivers quality food.
We went to Gaslight before a show at the Huntington Theater. It was wonderful - tasty, friendly, pricey... they have a great deal for Huntington patrons where you get a glass of Champaign or a dessert if you show your ticket (or receipt in our case).
Loved it - we will be back!
Delicious food in a nice casual setting; service was a little intrusive (reaching over us for water glasses, reaching over us for plates when others were still eating), but that might have been because our five-person table was a four-person with a fifth seat plopped down at the end of the table and that made things a bit crowded. Still, we'll be back -- the prix fixe brunch is an especially good value.
We were a party of 6 with reservations for brunch. We were seated promptly, our waiter was attentive, the food was served quickly and it was delicious. It was a great experience and we’ll definitely be back!
The food and decor are well done but they need to hire more servers. Our server was spread very thin. Our appetizers arrived way before our first drink. Our entrees arrived way before the wine we had ordered. Furthermore our mains arrived while we were still finishing our appetizers.
Not as good as it used to be. Overcooked fish, overdressed salad, overly sweet chocolate mousse.
Overall, a great night. Love this restaurant. The wine and Pork rillons were fantastic. What was sub-par were the potatoes with the rillons (undercooked and without flavor) and the Wild Boar entree because the meat wasn't very flavorful, the vegetables were undercooked and crunchy, and the sauce was heavy and not very flavorful, either. The wine- an excellent Temperanillo -and the chocolate mousse were excellent, as was the gin in the barrel cocktail I had later at the bar.
Great food great vibe great service
another great night at Gaslight! service, food, and atmosphere all top notch!
The food was good but we waited a long time for it to come to our table. When I did my daughters was called. She did not return it because she had waited so long and we all wanted to eat. The service was very good. Our waiter was excellent. I felt it was overpriced for what you were getting. I had the steak Frites. The hors d’oeuvres were very good. A bit of sticker shock when I got the bill.
Food is very good and so is the wine. It's is usually pretty quiet, but the music was a bit loud on the night we were there. And best of all, there is free parking!!
We arrived fairly late on a cold Sunday night, so it was relatively empty, but the service was great and the food was outstanding! We had the duck, bar steak and gnocchi Parisienne, and we’re definitely coming back!!
Loved the interior&food! The server was really nice and friendly, too
We’ve been to Gaslight many times and have always been impressed with the food and the service and we were there as recent as few weeks ago. This time surprisingly the food didn’t taste good at all. The French soup tasted like broth , the rotisserie chicken had no flavor what so ever and even our beloved steak and frite didn’t taste as it used to be
Hope that was just a fluke
Gaslight is a place that my wife and I frequent often. The food is tremendous and the service is spectacular. To top it off there is FREE 5 hour parking for the restaurant which makes this a more attractive option for people who live outside the city.
A friend and I went for early (5pm) dinner after a Saturday afternoon theater. We were the first in the section. The food was excellent (swordfish and roasted cod), full of flavor and seasonal touches. The server recommended wine and provided tastes to let us choose, and was otherwise efficient and friendly. Always a great experience at Gaslight!
The food is great here along with amazing cocktail. However, our brunch experience was kinda ruined by the exceptionally poor service. After we were seated, it took 50 minutes for someone to come by to take our order. Then the drinks themselves took a solid 30 minutes to show up AFTER our food came. It was so difficult to even flag down someone. Despite the good food, I would not recommend this place due to the poor service. At least definitely not for brunch.
The food was great. The wait staff was knowledgeable and attentive. We had a lovely meal.
Made dinner reservations for a Sunday at 5:30pm after seeing a show. The restaurant has an ambiance that’s very cozy and inviting. It made for a very romantic dinner date. The experience was amazing.
We had the escargot and the bone marrow for appetizers,
then beet salads and seared scallops for the main course all were delicious.
The service was excellent! We will definitely be back!
I was excited to try Gaslight for my birthday brunch on a recent visit to Boston. I made a reservation for 6 on OpenTable, but unfortunately had to wait a half hour past my reservation time for our table to be open. The male host was kind and explained that the group at our table was lingering...though I feel it is up to the restaurant to manage situations like this more effectively. A complimentary cup of coffee would go a long way to smooth over situations like this. The female host who eventually brought us to our table was rude, and it really tainted my whole experience. She tossed our menus on the table in a pile.
I realize that Sunday brunch is a busy time for restaurants, but it should be expected that there will be many larger groups making reservations, and that groups like to linger, so a restaurant should be prepared for it. Maybe Gaslight should take fewer reservations, or allot more time for each group.
I will say that the food was great - some of my friends had Croque Monsieur and others had Steak and Eggs, and everyone was happy. My scramble with salmon and capers was tasty, but came out a little cold. The chocolate croissant was incredible!
I’d like to give the Gaslight another chance when I visit Boston again, maybe at a less busy time to see if this makes a difference. The decor is adorable.
The food was average. I had the bacon and onion torte it was not hot and I sent it back and it was dried out. It was like a piece of quiche I bought at a grocery store and over cooked in a microwave. There are so many better place for brunch in boston.
We were at Gaslight for brunch on a Sunday morning. The prefixed menus are of great value- I had the crepes and my boyfriend got the omelette. Omelette wasn’t great, it could have been softer and creamier but the crepes were good. Overall, the price of $11ish seems very reasonable for a brunch menu, choice of beverage, and coffee/tea. Great service and ambience😍
Food was bland and overpriced. My Lorraine omelet was basically just all egg and cheese with an occasional fleck of bacon. It came with french fries that were barely warm. Service was basic and impersonal. I’ve had better food and service at my neighborhood diner.
