Lovely French bistro -- I love the decor and food. Probably most similar to Aquitaine, but slightly more hip and not as staid. We've gone there a lot for family brunches. The service has always been good, and it's a great morning to have brunch there then explore SOWA. Love the pastries, good frites.
They made my birthday brunch a lovely experience!
Always a favorite whether for a date or just enjoy some good food
Gaslight is a great little restaurant with a nice atmosphere, authentic French cooking and reasonable prices. It has the feel of a Parisian bistro but without the small portions, high prices and snooty attitude often found in other French restaurants.
The restaurant is easy to get to and offers free parking next door making it a great choice for suburbanites who want to adventure into Boston for a nice dinner. All of our meals were well prepared and delicious. Highly recommended.
We were very much looking forward to this dining experience. Unfortunately, service was awful and 3 of our 6 meals were not cooked well.
Never disappoints food terrific
Duck Confit - fabulous!
Everything prepared to perfection.
Food and service (by the server) were great but due to a couple of large groups our orders were seriously delayed-30+ minutes from ordering! It made us rush through our meal to get to an appointment we had afterward.
The food was good, but the service was so slow. It took over 2 hours for Sunday brunch for a group of 3. We were lucky if saw our waitress every 1/2 hour. If you're in the mood for a long leisurely meal to catch up with an old friend, great. If you're hungry or on a schedule, this is not the place for you.
We asked for a nice table considering the restaurant was 1/3 rd full on a Friday night 7:30pm, was led to the worst table in the room. Had mentioned on my reservation we we’re celebrating my wife’s birthday, no mention of it. In the past, they had better service and a better menu, missing was their smoked salmon and little neck clams. We ordered the duck which was not crispy sent it back, all they did was heat it up and returned the plate with cold vegetables! Manager arrived a table to discuss and was not helpful and offered nothing, still no mention of birthday. Will not go back
I loved the food and the atmosphere. service was a little slow but we didn’t mind because we were having a relaxed night but if you had to be in and out maybe this isn’t for you.
Great location, excellent food but very poor and slow service. Food was very slow to come out and server did not check on us during meal.
We all enjoyed our meals, but would have liked more menu options.
Fantastic steak frites!! We had a small issue with the dessert taking a long time as there was a mistake with plugging something in but management took care of our meal and were very nice about it!
We had a great dinner ! Food is always good ! Out waiter Patrick was very attentive!
Our waiter was not that great. She didn't come to see how our food was or if we needed anything. And the people delivering food were walking around to different tables asking who had ordered the item!
Also, since the restaurant was empty that night and we had a reservation, they should have put us in a booth rather than the tiny table in the middle of the dining room right near the door.
had their prix fixe menu $29.95 before 6PM; 3 courses. Had steak frites..steak cooked perfectly as requested; frites (fries) came lukewarm and nothing special. Tried to get waitress attention to no avail..she was not really attentive. I had to flag down the water server to ask for water refills. The appetizer was not as I anticipated, but it was OK. Desert was chocolate molten cake, which was good but needed some ice cream to cut the sweetness; as it was rather intense. Overall nice meal... grab a booth as the noise level can get quite high, quickly when the restaurant is full.
Great location for Sowa and free parking...that's just extra nice!
Great brunch menu, but tables are way to packed together.
Service was superior. Salad plates were warm, almost hot. Salmon was perfectly cooked, the steak fritte was overcooked (med instead of MR). Rabbit special was v good. Desserts were good, coffees, except the espresso, were undrinkable.
Delicious food. Great decor.
The noise level is extreme. The tables small and crowded together.
A Perfect place to dine if you do Not want to be intimate or talk in a moderate voice.
Great experience as always...Tanya was our awesome server and the food was absolutely delicious...Michael great to see you as well!
This was my second time at Gaslight. The first time the experience was just lovely...delicious
food, attentive waiter, and wonderful ambiance.
This time we were stuck in the corner (no air conditioning to the area), the waitress was pleasant, but left a lot to be desired...and the food (sole) was expensive and not very
Not sure when/if I will go back.
Charming place, moderately priced for the neighborhood. Food ranged from good to great, with the duck confit great, roast chicken not so much. Desserts were fresh and delicious. So nice to sit outside, linger and chat, but service was slooooow.
We ate outside - it was lovely
Good experience overall!
All was good except for noise level raises after 6:30 pm. Background music does not go with the ambiance and is too loud.
Excellent food. Four choices of fresh fish. A delicious salad of greens. A friendly waitress, although the kitchen was backed up and we waited a long time for dessert.
Had a great brunch, going back to try dinner this coming Sat the 2nd
Like bring in an actual French Bistro. Great service.
Sat outside on a lovely summer evening and delicious cocktails and French food. This restaurant was a quick 5 minute walk to the Calderwood Theater, so I would highly recommend it before a show. Steak, escargot and mussels were all terrific, as was the warm baguette we got for the table. Highly recommended!
main course took more than 30 minutes
overall good restaurant and I will eventually return
Happy Birthday to moi!!!Love this brasserie! Our 3rd time with the delicious-ness experience. Will definitely be returning for a fourth!
I wanted to love this place. I did love the subway tiles and decor. I really liked the bar and bartender but the rest was just so so. Apparently they had had a mix up with their reservation system so after three moved us it all just seemed chaotic. We had to ask to have plates removed from the table and we rarely saw our waiter. We were supposed to get comped dessert for being moved but that didn’t happen. They seemed short staffed and unprepared. My soup (French onion) was amazing, the main course (butternut squash ravioli) was much too heavy with a lot of butter, and my creme brûlée was good.
I am willing to give it another try, maybe for brunch.
Food was fantastic!! Atmosphere is always amazing. Service was on point!! 👍🏻
We have been going to Gaslight for years. Celebrations of birthdays, anniversaries, holiday meals. Always good!!!
my favorite restaurant in Boston! The service is incredible, food is incredible, environment is modern, elegant, romantic and vibrant. It was my boyfriend's birthday and they even prepared a birthday card for him which was so so so sweet! 10/10 would recommend
Excellent food and service
Great food, feels like you are in Paris, the service was excellent. Bigger wine glasses are needed!
