The menu was simple and everything was delicious. Great bar food! Atmosphere was a little noisy but, IT'S A BAR! The design of the building is obvious that there is great attention to details.
Overall- AMAZING!
We travelled an hour and a half out of the way just to go here. Decor was disappointing. We really hoped for more Gas Monkey garage themed items in the decor. Food was expensive and not very good. I asked if I could substitute fries for rice and was charged$3 for the change and was not told that when I asked about the substitution! Had a party of 4, mine of us finished our food because it all tasted a bit off.
Loved it! Waitress very friendly, food is great! I recommend Gas Monkey Bar N' Grill!
First time at this place; husband is a motorhead and watches the show, so we headed down for his b-day. Place was jumping, even on a Monday night. Sports bar ambiance with Rangers game on the big screens, which is good when there's a lull in the conversation.
Service was mostly good -- appetizers and drinks brought quickly and entrees followed fairly quickly as well -- all except for mine! The other four were served and I waited...and waited...and waited. Finally came out about 5 minutes later -- really no excuse for it since I didn't order anything that would have taken any longer than the other orders.
But once I got it, I have to say it was worth the wait -- had the brisket grilled cheese and it was delish! However, don't let the size of the burgers and other entrees lead you into thinking you're getting a big sandwich because this one is not. In fact, it was hidden under the fries! They use that small Texas toast for their brisket grilled cheese, so you are only getting a small sandwich -- that said, it was really good! Husband had burger, which he said was dry. Son and daughter liked their burgers and daughter's boyfriend loved his chicken fried steak. Fries really good and crisp. Onion rings are huge, so if you like the skinny ones, these are not for you. Dessert was Skillet S'mores -- fabulous but really rich! Nice touch that dessert was free because it was my husband's b-day.
Would have rated this higher if not for the lag in getting my order to the table.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. Can't wait to go back
We travelled from Ausralia and this was one place we wanted to see after watching the TV show GMG from the beginning of the series.
The menu had plenty of choices and very different from what we are used too, the food was excellent and the beer cold.
Our waiter Luke I think was his name ( tall guy with a beard) was a great host and made us feel very welcome , he rang our hotel for us to be picked up and was very helpful
Thanks for having us
Cheers Max and Linda
Western Australia
great food and great service!! 2nd time there and would come back again.
Food was outstanding! The waitress should not be a waitress, had no clue about the beers on tap, and only recommended 3 things on the menu because she said she is s picky eater
Drove down from TN for the weekend. I used to watch
the show when it was pure, now too staged & scripted.
Food was better than expected, place is very cool, our
server was very good and polite, would go back again.
Went there at the busy time. prefer a booth but got a table. My group liked the chicken fried steak and I liked the coyote burger. good selection of beer. Typical Bar type location. Made reservations and ended up being late so called to let them know and they had no problem with that. Got a salad instead of coleslaw. They let us keep the salad which was nice... No issues was enjoyable. They had T shirts for sale but none that was right for me. like one thing on it but not the other... Oh well... did not fit my taste...
We love the show and wanted to come when we knew we were going to be in the area. We were late due to getting lost but they were very accommodating for our party of 8. Very fast service and the food was great. Would recommend to anyone.
It was great. We came from Amarillo & that was a must see. It was well worth it.
I had booked a table for 12 which turned into 18. They were able to sit us all together and right on point with all the orders.
You need to try this place. Great food. Awesome interior.
My husband and I were in Dallas for a wedding and decided to come here on our way out of town. We wanted to do something fun before we left and being fans of the show we thought Gas Monkey! As far as our experience it was over hyped. The hostesses weren't friendly when greeting us. Actually, we weren't really greeted my husband had to initiate talking to them. Our waitress ended up being ok, but at first seemed like she didn't really want to be there. I wasn't real impressed with the menu it was limited but overwhelming and busy at the same time if that makes sense. The food was decent but nothing exceptional. Good sweet tea though! I feel like if the food was better I wouldn't have minded the price but I've had way better for less. After our meal our waitress informed us that "If you want to spend more money" (WHAT!!) we could visit the gift shop. The gift shop must have been hit hard because most shirts they offer were out (including the one I had my eye on), or had limited sizes available. I was told " all these online and I could order the one I wanted" ...Why would I want to do that? Then it's not a souvenir... it's a shirt I ordered online. The shirt I ended up costing more than our meals combined and it wasn't the one I wanted...bummer! The atmosphere in general is pretty cool and that is exactly what you are paying for. This restaurant is meant to make money plain and simple. Overall, we probably won't go back but we can say we've been!
There was a little snafu with the reservation because of the event. However the manager fixed it and everything was PERFECT.
Being fans of the show we had to stop at Gas Monkey while in Dallas. You will not be disappointed. The food was great, the staff was really nice and we will definitely stop again when in the area. We were traveling with a teenage girl & 6 yr old boy. Great experience for our entire family!
Expected more food choices, also everything was very spicy, and prices were reasonable but not at the gift shop, items too over priced.
We love the show and heard all the hype so we decided to visit on valentines weekend and there was 4 of us all adults. Good thing we had reservations or it was a 2 hr wait and personally I don't think it would have been worth that. The waitress was good, the food was good, but place was a little expensive and very noisy. The live band was also heavy metal and very loud and hard to enjoy. We left full but somewhat disappointed.
Brent was awesome, Aaron was awesome we came from Georgia and was not disappointed.
Great experience for my dad.
great customer service and friendly staff and great place to have lunch or dinner.
Great food great service for such a draw of a restauraunt they have the perfect people in place we did not waste a lot of time waiting for a table or the food once orders were placed 5 Stars all day long. Will visit again next time i come to dallas
Its Gas Monkey, you've gotta try the place and yes, I would go back :-)
I was there with 3 colleagues. and we were there at 8pm on a cold Wednesday night, it was kinda quiet but I expected that. We're also all out of towners so wont get much of a chance to go back unfortunately.
I liked the décor and ambience, its pretty cool looking and not echoey as I thought it may be. The bar area looks cool and well laid out however we were sat at a restaurant table.
The food - two of my colleagues had the chilli bowl appy, both said it was a bit bland and needed spicing up. The Hog on a log - great name, wasn't sure what to expect - its bacon on a stick on some fried cheesey dough, very tasty though. The brisket - very very tasty, great pink smoke ring. One colleague had the short-rib and that too was very tasty and meaty. would have been nice if the food had been a bit warmer but that's just my personal preference. Would also be nice to see some more smoked options on the menu. there were plenty of staff around so service was good and we unfortunately didn't get a chance to see the band
Great choice of local beers which is nice to see too
Rich Rawlings came in briefly - he's taller than he looks on the TV - he seemed friendly, talked to a few customers too - I wish I'd said hello - missed opportunity :-(
I would think this place parties hard over the weekend, at least I would hope it does as its definitely setup for it
The gift shop has plenty of stuff too
Tried to take a picture of the signs outside as they look cool all lit up but there are floodlights too close to them which makes it hard to get a clear picture
Please don't sell out and put you're logo on everything a la American Chopper
I thought our experience at Gas Monkey Bar and Grill was awesome. We went with a group of 8 and each person left happy and full. Three of our guests were actually in town from Europe and they are huge fans of the show, so they were very excited to be there. After eating we shopped in the gift shop for a little while then went to the garage after one of the waitresses told us where it was located.
Great people, great food! I will definitely be returning.
So...I am sure you have seen the show, Gas Monkey Garage. Well this restaurant has the same name and same owner.
The food is just OK - your typical bar menu. Unfortunately nothing outstanding.
The beer is great, nice and cold.
Service is exceptional from the hosts and wait staff. There is plenty of parking but if there is a good concert, then get there early!
Don't forget to pick up your GMG logo shirt. The store is in the back of the restaurant, don't miss it!
Been to GMBG twice while traveling to Dallas. Something everyone needs to see. Hope that the menu gets some changes. One thought is maybe a seasonal menu that has things that are seasonal in Texas or other southern areas. Just an idea....
GMBG is too good to just be a burger and fries kind of place.
Had seen this on TV and always wanted to visit. Had to make reservations which was a good idea, it was pretty packed for a Thursday night. I always judge these type restaurants by their burgers, let me tell you this burger was on! My co-worker had the fish and chips, she loved it. Great atmosphere, not for little ones maybe 10 and up. A lot of the people that walked in were dressed like gear head, just like the Fast n Loud show, it was neat to see. Then Richard from Fast N Loud walks in, poor guy everybody wanted a picture with him or of him. He didn't stay that long he jetted outside and to a private party up on the deck. They also have a great venue for music. I will definitely return, bring my 11 yr old, were are Fast N Loud fans.
Staff was very friendly and professional. Not your typical place to eat and definitely has the Gas Monkey flair to it. Prices were good. My pulled pork sandwich was delivered in a pan that looks like it had been in the garage (nice touch). Overall great experience and will visit again the next time I am in Dallas. Good move by putting the swag shop in the back as not to overwhelm guest that are there only for food.
The CFS was impressive looking but didn't taste that good. Way over battered and the batter was not fully cooked. Had a flour taste. CFS is a staple of Texas restaurants and I really expected better of the Gas Monkey.
With all the hype this place got from friends we decided to check it out. Even on a Tuesday night we were packed in like sardines into the restaurant part of the bar. It took a while for our server to get to our drinks started but we certainly didn't wait as long as some of the other larger tables around us. The food was okay. Typical bar fare with a twist. 3 out of 4 of us tried the brisket grilled cheese. The brisket was a bit on the dry side and a side of spicy BBQ sauce would have kicked it up a notch. Service was pretty good, our waiter was quite energetic making our wait for our order bearable.
My 12 year old daughter has a 65 Mustang project car and she loves to watch car shows. We are huge fans of Fast N Loud so its no wonder I wanted to dine at GMBG while in Dallas for work. The atmosphere was exactly as I expected! The music was loud, but not too loud. The décor fit the name and fit Dallas. Burgers were huge and served in what I thought was an oil pan used on cars. LOL Our waitress was accommodating and attentive, but not intrusive. We made 11:30am reservations online and glad we did! By noon the place was packed with tourists and locals alike. The gift shop ladies were very sweet and helpful. Glad I could share in the experience that we see on the tube every week! Thanks Richard!
-Loved Rachel and Brent our servers. They made our dinner.
-Do not order the gigantor onion rings. Crispy and look delicious but have zero flavor! I'd rather eat my napkin!
-Brisket was delicious although not worth the $16.99 charge.
-Grilled cheese brisket was worth driving 200 miles for! Still drooling!
-great gift shop
-Great venue for a good band! Hopping bar scene, although not as busy as I had hoped for a Friday night.
We had a good time there with our group. The staff were very friendly and fun to talk with. The food was good, definitely a step or two above the typical bar and grill fare.
Food and Server were EXCELLENT. We all loved the atmosphere and had a great time.
My fiancée and I made a plan to eat at Gas Monkey while in Dallas for the annual Red River Rivalry. I LOVED the fish tacos- the salsa's were so good. Service was great and the atmosphere was fun. Had a great time and the food was terrific! Would definitely go back!!
Was seated promptly at 6pm....The waitress was great...never an empty glass...on top of everything....had a small problem with the french fries being overcooked...an assistant manager making rounds and checking on our dining experience noticed the fries had not been eaten and asked if their was a problem... I just commented that they were way too done.... He asked if we would allow him to bring out a large new order cooked properly... I said that would be great..... He returned from the kitchen in less that 2 monutes with perfectly cooked and hot french fries...Made the whole dining experience great.... A little later Aaron .. I guess the main manager came over and checked on us and asked if we had been taken care of.... and was very nice..
GMBG turned out to be more than a theme restaurant. I was pretty blown away at how great the food was. Whoever put the menu together really put some thought into it. We ordered their signature nachos which were made with brisket cubes and BBQ sauce. It looked odd but it was amazing! They do a lot of deliciously creative things with brisket--and I'm not a big brisket fan but this stuff was great. They serve other meats too. Food is served in rustic-looking metal pans (they're lined with parchment paper so no lock jaw) and it goes well with the whole garage theme décor. The gift shop is nice but the items there are a bit overpriced. The outdoor concert venue is also really nicely done. An overall great experience I would recommend.
Gas Monkey Bar N' Grill has the best brisket entree I've ever had!!!!
Had dinner here for my sons 14th birthday, he loves the show, and an amazing time was had by all ! Great service, delicious food and friendly staff along with good music and a noisy fun atmosphere made his night perfect :)
