Wonderful experience ! The staff professional, polite, attentive and accommodating. The food was amazing !
Waiter did not want to give me a table that I have book with hours of anticipation because there was not anymore people in the restaurant.
Great business dinner as always at Garufa. I would definitely place Garufa in the top 3 best restaurants in El Paso! Always reliable, Great Service, Great Food and the ambiance is one where you can have a great conversation without needing to be shouting over the background music.
The restaurant is aesthetically nice and has ambiance. However, the seating arrangement leaves you right next to other couples and any conversation you have will be overheard. Our waiter didn’t have any personality and seemed bothered to be there. On top of that, he made a couple of mistakes due to his lack of focus. Overall I’d say stay away. At those prices you’d be better served, literally, by going to someplace like The Double Eagle in Mesilla.
Awesome! Great food and service.
Wow. I was amazed on how good my stake was. Made perfect just how I ordered. Friendly waiter and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing.
My first time trying out this place. I decided to take my boyfriend out to eat for his birthday.
The place was set up nicely; looks and feels fancy.
The waitress had a stern look on her face. We expected a smile and friendliness from her.
I ordered the Ratatoulli which was not
worth the expensive price. Basically, a bowl with yellow squash, zucchini, red and green bell peppers, with red spaghetti sauce on top. I can easily make this dish at home for 5 dollars.
My boyfriend ordered some type of fish. The serving was very small. He said it was not that good. I was a bit sadden because I wanted him to enjoy his meal here at Garufa, especially on his special day. The only thing good was the bread and olive oil sauce.
Anyways won't be going back. Maybe if a friend tries it out and recommends something they enjoy then I might give it a second try. But that's a big maybe.
We did end up going to Applebees after words though.
Wife’s birthday dinner was great here. Everyone was nice and attentive from start to finish.
I had a pleasant meal with my wife and friends. Only area I see where you all can improve is in the reservation department. I tried to reserve over phone and no answer from you all and I read in reviews that your reservation process was not the best and they were correct.
Thank you for reading my review.....
Great food and atmosphere, reservation was set for a Saturday evening around 5:00 so it wasn't too busy at that time, i expect this place is busier as the night moves along because the food is fantastic! Will be back again!
Food, ambiance and service are great, but I have to say that the restaurant does need maintenance inside and out.
Garufa was terrible. Had reservations booked through OpenTable for Valentine's Day and was hoping for a good meal and nice atmosphere. Got there and was told by the manager that they didn't have my reservation. Odd.. So I showed him my confirmation email and number and he said they don't take OpenTable reservations. He then proceeded to say that the restaurant was full (it wasn't even close) and that he couldn't help us. Didn't even try to accommodate my wife and I at all. Terrible experience that will prevent me from ever trying out Garufa
Garufa sucks! They did not honor reservations through Open Table. I received not one but several confirmations and reminders about the reservation.
This not only happened to us, but to other couples too while we were asking about our reservations.
We tried having an amazing Valentine’s night out, but Garufa ruined it. Will never go there again.
Early Valentines Date
Took my girlfriend for an early Valentines date dinner as her and I would be in different cities for Valentine’s Day.
This has been been by far one of the best restaurant experiences I have had in a very long time!
The service was absolutely amazing, the food was phenomenal and the wine list was perfect! I had the 16oz Porterhouse and my girlfriend had the 14oz NY. Wow!!! Cooked to perfection! For the wine we decided to go for something new and try an Argentinian selection since this is an Argentinian restaurant. We selected “Alma Negra M Blend” Such a wonderful red!
To close off the night we ended with a strawberry cheesecake, and of course....amazing!
Our waiter - Juan! Juan was amazing, from helping us select our wine, to always being near when needed. Very kind gentleman.
Thank you to all the staff that assisted with us as well!
Thank you Garufa for such a memorable and amazing dinner.
Definitely Garufa is one of my favorite places to dine. It's ambiance truly helps, specially when you want to have a conversation with the people you go with. Kudos Garufa!!
It was a wonderful atmosphere. Great food and wonderful service.
Wow! I found this restaurant on Yelp. As soon as my plane landed in ELP, I Yelped steak restaurants, and Garufa was on the list. I reserved a table and I am so glad I did.
Excellent service, delicious food, steak cooked just right, delicious wine, fabulous guitarist and the owner/manager walked to every table to greet his patrons and checked to see if we were satisfied with our meal and service.
Mind you, I came straight from the airport and was not dressed for the beautiful restaurant, but they made me feel right at home.
The next time I am in El Paso, I will dine here.
Awesome place!! Had wonderful romantic experience with my wife we celebrated anniversary
Definitely will be back
And will tell friends and family about GARUFA!!
We have been to Garufa several times. Usually our dining experience is awesome, but this last time the experience was subpar. We typically order the 21 oz ribeye, baked potato, mushrooms, caprese salad, empanadas, and a bottle of wine. The steak is usually phenomenal, but it was just ok at our last visit - not as tender. The empanadas were tasty, but cold in the middle. The service was lacking - our waiter was inattentive. It took a while to get a wine list, overall attention to detail was off, and we felt we were treated differently than other diners.
Well to make a long story short. I made reservations on OpenTable and was all set to take my lovely wife to garufas to celebrate Mother's Day. Thank god I called the day before where I was advised my reservation would not be honored and it was first come first serve. Come on Management at garufas be professional if you want to be a High end respected establishment act like one. If you are not going to honor reservations don't advertise on OpenTable or at least have the respect for your patrons or potential patrons and advise them you are not accepting reservations on that day. Bottom line is we went somewhere else and had a great Time. The sad thing is garufas has soooooo much potential! Happy dining and see you around El Paso!
I am not a beef eater so had the Chilean See Bass which was fabulous.
Food was delicious, cucumber martinis hit the spot...service excellent...
Although my reservation was confirmed by Open Table, when we arrived at the restaurant it was closed!!!
Also, this survey forces me to give at least one star when I don't want to give any stars, a very poor survey format! How can I assign stars when I never even got in the restaurant?!?!
We had excellent service and food . This was our first time there but will definitely return.
We used to go be regulars here, unfortunately the taste of their dishes is very disappointing now. There was only another table occupied along ours and it took over 35 min for our steaks to arrive, stake was not very hot, had too much fat! . A day after I realized the added an extra charge to my card, when I contacted them they took 3 weeks to resolve it and never admitted it, even when I prove them I paid my tab and gratuity but they added another $35 after that.
The ambiance was perfect great food and extraordinary service
This was a date night dinner for my wife and I and we were both excited to try a new upscale steakhouse. We could not have been more disappointed. For starters we booked on open table and theycould not find our reservation. They took care of it and seated us. However that's when it all went bad. It took us 10 min to get an iced tea and water. We ordered a 21 oz aged ribeye, 2 potatoes, and a lobster tail to share. The service was extremely slow. When our food came everything was cold, particularly the potatoes which could not even melt the butter. We asked for our steak medium and it was well done. The Lobster tail was the only thing of value but even that was cold. Needless to say we were very disappointed and will definitely not return. There are countless other places to get better food in El Paso. Do yourself a favor and pick another place to get a steak.
I was disappointed with the waiter we had. We have been to dinner here before and the waiter then was very attentive. This time - not so. Luckily, the waiter that was working another table made sure we had water and responded to our needs.
Good good and ambient the service was kind of slow
We, our work team, has dined here several times. Every time the service has been extremely slow although the restaurant has not been very busy. The quality of the food is okay but does not warrant the prices. The lamb was over cooked (three of us ordered it). The quality of the stakes, ordered by several others in the group, was mediocre.
We will not be returning.
My family and I were there on New Year's Eve and ordered the steak and lobster. We each ordered a different cut of steak. At first glance the steaks looked beautiful, but we couldn't cut into them and even worse you couldn't swallow the meat because it was impossible to break down. The steaks were ALL gristle. The steaks were a huge disappointment. We will not be returning.
Good good but lacking good service
The food is wonderful. The portions are spot-on.
I was very excited to try La Garufa. However, I was quickly disappointed. The restaurant was more or less empty on the main dining floor. We were a party of 3, there for a business dinner. Our server did not approach the table to even give water until 10 minutes after we were seated. We had to pull him aside to even ask for a drink from the bar as he did not ask if we wanted anything. And for refills, again he did not offer, we practically had to make him take the order and then he did not even bring one of them. Not the type of service I expect - especially for the price of the food & drink. We eventually were able to order 3 appetizers. Only 1 was delivered, which was disappointing in itself but no one even asked if we liked it or not. The server was very scarce the entire time and when I got a chance to ask him if he was going to bring the rest of the appetizers he said no and walked away - not acceptable - he could have at least made up an excuse but he didn't seem to even care in the least. The main entrees were delivered which were ok but not as ordered. We tried to add lobster tails to 2 of the entrees but the restaurant was out and so one of us substituted to shrimp but it was placed with the wrong entrée. I had requested sautéed jalapenos be added to my meal and when I asked where they were after the meals had been delivered, I was told they were out. As a former server, I do not understand how this server makes any tips from the type of service we experienced from him (he did not appear to be new or in training - so new excuses there). We will not return and I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Other than the empanadas, the rest of the meal was mediocre. My NY Strip, though tasty, had far too much grizzly fat attached as did one of our dining companions. The side of creamed spinach should have been cream with a little bit of spinach- the dish had almost no spinach in it and it was far too salty. Overall, not pleasant and we won't return, except maybe to get empanadas, which are wonderful. This is our third experience in the past several years and I've had similar misgivings after each time.
Great food with a great atmosphere. Some may it's pricey but for the quality of the food it is very responsible.
great food the service is outstanding, the place is modern a
Our group ordered 4 steaks and all different cuts. Every single one came out extremely under cooked. 2 of them got sent back to be cooked more and came back exactly the same! The plate of creamed spinach was a plate of cream with a spoonful of spinach. This will be out last time coming here.
the food was very good. the servers need a lot of training. we had to flag down our server over and over for everything from ordering drinks, to getting water to clearing dishes. they are very poorly trained. when they did come to the table they usually interrupted a conversation, reached over us to get plates or serve plates. They were not mean or disrespectful just clueless on how to wait on people. also we speak English and our server and little to no command of English. very rude to be like that and very irritating.
