Garufa Argentinean Restaurant
I celebrated my anniversary and i had an outstanding experience!
This was by far one of the best dining experiences i have had. Very attentive and provided exceptional service. Food was amazing!!! I would compare this to Ruth’s Chris and its more affordable with the same class and elegance as expected from a higher caliber restaurant.
Wow. The ambiance is soothing and the food delicious. Will definitively return.
Great food as always. Jeff was our waiter. Exceptional service and food. We had a selection of empanadas, wine and the special.
Great selection of appetizers and steaks were really good. Service was attentive and not rushed. Great place for a special occasion dinner.
Great atmosphere, great service, and interesting menu. Was hoping for better tasting steak for the price. Maybe I’m just used to a salty steak like the ones served at Ruth’s Chris or Cafe Central. These steaks were cooked perfectly but to me and my wife, lacked seasoning.
Just poor overall service from the waiter. He knew nothing about the menu and rarely returned to check on anything...the busman was on the spot refilling water. Everyone’s steak was mediocre, sides were good and dessert was mostly unavailable. Not likely to return with other good options in downtown now.
We had dinner reservations for a Saturday night and thought that maybe the place wasn’t good because it was empty (around 6:30). We ordered drinks at the bar and were promptly seated at our table. The service was spectacular and our server was able to explain the menu to us in detail along with wine and drink recommendations for each dish. We went with the rack of lamb and the butterflied ribeye. The lamb was crazy delicious and was served with a mint jelly that added a nice change from the blackberry jam I’m used to having with lamb. The ribeye was super tender and juicy, you could practically cut it with a fork. I would highly recommend this place for a date night.
This restaurant was not truly Argentinian, didn’t have much selection of beef cuts.
My stake had a lot of fat, there was only 1 waiter at that time, he did he's best but was too busy and we had to wait for our food to long. I was disappointed, I had been there before and I had a great experience that time but not this time
Service is just excellent and exceptional. Waitstaff very knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions. Always get a top steak here cooked to perfection. The ambiance is classy and understated. I always come here when I come to El Paso.
The food was excellent except I had the salmon and the topping was not what was on the menu. I think they gave us the wrong menu. I also do NOT like the mashed potatoes--they do not go with salmon and had no flavor. Other than that the meal was excellent.
Restaurant has great ambience. There was a party of 10 that was very rude and loud; they did not care about other people in the restaurant who were celebrating anniversaries and birthdays.
The salads looked beautiful but they were served on very small square plates. You could not eat due to them being piled up. Mine was delicious but the other salad had dressing that was not flavorful We asked for more, and my wife was able to mix it in, but again, the plate was not “workable”. The empanadas were extremely salty; could not eat my meat one.
The malbec wine ordered by the glass was the worst ever; tried four glasses and finally switched to another variety. Obvious. that the “by the glass wine” was old or stale.
They brought the wrong steak, but it was delicious. Wife’s salmon was perfect.
The attendants were kind and friendly, but we had to wave them down several times to bring us water, etc. It was not a busy night (Monday), so there was no excuse for that. The staff was watching a baseball game by the bar.
Martini was watered down, but I did not complain because the bartender was so proud of it.
Desert was to die for.
Still like this restaurant but the experience was no higher than a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. Reluctant to be so honest, but think it might help other clients. Potential for great service is there; it was not there that night.
Amazing service and excellent quality of food. One of the best restaurants in El Paso for fine dinning
I have been here on a few occasions and have enjoyed the food every time. The food is pricy but very good. I have come on special occasions.
Service was great! Attentive but not intrusive. Food was very good. I had the 7 oz tenderloin which was very good!
Absolutely gorgeous restaurant. Dimly lit to create the perfect mood for a night out with a date. The servers worked as a team to effortlessly make sure that our glasses and bread stayed replenished. I highly recommend the salmon with veggie sides. My fiancé and I are looking forward to our next date night here. Also, another thank you to Juan who assisted greatly in finding a wine for us to enjoy with our meal.
Excellent service, food, environment. Recommended for any event!
Service is VERY good and the food keeps a very good standard.
Our temderloin was perfectly cooked (medium rare) and the alfajores were marvelous
I would have rated the food and overall as maximum stars if the mushrooms had been cooked properly. Mushrooms need to be cooked until they release their juices and then more, to achieve maximum flavor. This is the second time the mushrooms were undercooked at this restaurant for me, and just did not toast good. Nonetheless, the rib-eyes were fabulous, the bread and salad were excellent and the mashed potatoes were good. Dessert was also very good. The waiter recommended a Malbec by the glass that was outstanding.
Poor service. Food was not as good as usual. Beautiful restaurant. Will go again. Hopefully this was a one time occurrence.
The ambiance is calm and relaxing. The food was amazing, I had the steak & lobster special and it was a great value for my monies. The manager was so attentive. As a nice gesture from the restaurant we got dessert on the house. I will most definitely return and I would recommend this place for a nice date and or any special occasion.
We have had positive experiences at Garufa before but we were very disappointed on our last visit. After we were seated, we ordered drinks and 30 minutes passed before we got them. Our appetizer and salad came out at the same time and we waited another hour before our entrees arrived. The steak was over done but we were not going to wait for it to be corrected. The couple at the table next to us was seated and served, including dessert, and paid their check and left before our dinner arrived. Again, very disappointing, and we will not be back.
It's nice when the front mgr and waiter Andy remember repeat customer. Outstanding customer SVC and always remember what we like
Good food and service
Was highly recommended by a colleague for empanadas. The corn empanada was great but rest of food mediocre or worse. Nothing special.
Service was slow. A couple of wines requested were of of stock
Always a gracious restaurant that remembers its regulars. Mgmt and staff outstanding!!! Highly recommend this place
Beautiful place. Service was outstanding and the food great.
Great food, great ambience, great for special occasions.
As always, fantastic!!
Disappointed, as I included it was a birthday celebration in reservation but restaurant offered nothing to celebrate like a dessert for the birthday guest. Very slow service. Food had no flavor and fish was over cooked and rubbery.
Definitely will go back. Beautiful room, delicious food, nice staff & competent.
Wrong food brought to table
Salmon over cooked
Filet was nervy
Wonderful experience ! The staff professional, polite, attentive and accommodating. The food was amazing !
Waiter did not want to give me a table that I have book with hours of anticipation because there was not anymore people in the restaurant.
Great business dinner as always at Garufa. I would definitely place Garufa in the top 3 best restaurants in El Paso! Always reliable, Great Service, Great Food and the ambiance is one where you can have a great conversation without needing to be shouting over the background music.
The restaurant is aesthetically nice and has ambiance. However, the seating arrangement leaves you right next to other couples and any conversation you have will be overheard. Our waiter didn’t have any personality and seemed bothered to be there. On top of that, he made a couple of mistakes due to his lack of focus. Overall I’d say stay away. At those prices you’d be better served, literally, by going to someplace like The Double Eagle in Mesilla.
