Garozzo's Ristorante - Kansas City Ratings and Reviews
There were three of us for lunch. One person is on a very restrictive diet which the chef was will to accommodate which we greatly appreciated. My spaghetti had a sweet taste which I've never experienced with spaghetti before. One individual had a salad which was good.
I always joke that Garozzo's would be my "death row final meal." I've been coming here since the beginning, and continue to come when I can. We had our son's rehearsal dinner at the OP location only because the downtown location doesn't have a large enough private room. But downtown has always been my favorite, it just has that added coolness of the Columbus Park neighborhood and the décor is so awesome. I honestly think the Bistecca Modiga is the best steak in Kansas City, and that's saying a lot in a steak town. It is consistently fantastic. We almost always get a stuffed artichoke. The house salad is perfection. Other favorites are the gnocchi, lasagna, and Tortelloni Gina. Also, I get the 3-Way Pasta 3 days before every half marathon as the ultimate carb load. I make 3 pre-race meals out of it. The chicken spiedini is obviously the specialty. My wife loves it, I ordered it so much initially I think I got tired of it. The Linguini Fruit de Mare is really fantastic for a land-locked restaurant. That's also a favorite of mine. Finally, I gotta give props to the eggplant parm. It's legit. I travel for work and eat out all the time, all over the country. And I can say that Garozzo's is my favorite restaurant anywhere. Long live Mike Garozzo!
Great dining experience at a great authentic Italian restaurant. We had booked a table for 7 PM and it was not ready when we arrived, so we had a cocktail in the bar area. Our server was very friendly and welcoming. The food was exceptional as always. Will be back soon. Cheers
First visit where the service wasn't as good as the food. We were another couple who had not tried this location before so the service really stuck out. Two waiters trying to share area/tables usually doesn't work well. Food was fantastic as always and we love the atmosphere!
The food was under seasoned. Sauces were watery. The pasta, however, was perfectly al dente . I appreciated the wine selection, especially for a family restaurant. The service was very good. They gladly and quickly exchanged my entree for a more satisfactory meal, and everyone was quite friendly even through I'm sure they were overwhelmed with guests. I wouldn't recommend, but only because the prices were high for the quality of food.
We love this place! Friday night was our first time at Garozzo's, and I can't believe we have missed this place! We live in Overland Park, so it's a bit of a hike, but well worth it! The ambience is what got me hooked on the place the moment we walked in. Sinatra and Bennett music wafted throughout the restaurant as we dined. Cheri our waitress was really nice and attentive. We will be back!
Great place and food was amazing. We booked through Open Table and our table was ready when we got there. The staff is very efficient. Loved the atmosphere and the food was very authentic and excellent. Perfect for an after sporting event with friends. Will definitely be back!!
Will not be back. Manager was on the phone at the front desk when we walked in. Hostess stood mutely beside him not even acknowledging us. Reservation for 6 that I had for a month. 4:30 pm to avoid the noise. No one in the dining area. Asked not to be seated in the middle since the last time we were seated there it was so crowded people were crashing into our chairs the entire night. Husband is a war veteran with PTSD and just can’t tolerate being bumped into constantly. The manager had to be involved since the hostess was clearly unable to make customer focused decisions telling us the other tables were reserved. IT WAS EMPTY. no one else was there. Waitress treated us with contempt all night. I had to ask for plates for the appetizer, boxes, coffee, drink refills, and a dessert menu-twice. Waitress kept her back to us and never verbally acknowledged my requests No matter how good the food is the incompetence and utter neglect isn’t worth it. I will head to McCormick and Schmidt’s for our next occasion.
This is by far our favorite restaurant in KC and the best Italian in the Midwest. I'll put it this way, and this is rare in restaurants these days...when you walk in the door literally every employee you see stops and with a huge smile welcomes you, and as you go to leave those same people all stop everything they are doing yet again to thank you for joining them for dinner and wish you a good evening. This type of service is so rare anymore, and we love dining here because of it.
We were in town for the weekend and were told we needed to try this place. We did and we loved it. The ease of making a reservation online was also fantastic. Our waiter was just great. And any change I made to my dish, he was very accommodating and didn't act as though it was any inconvenience. Whenever we are in town again, we'll be back.
We entered the restaurant with no reservations, party of 5. Was told we needed reservations and wait was 1.5 hrs for party size. Clearly could see available tables. Walked out booked on open table available in 5 mins for party of 5. Walked back in and was seated immediately. Host was not happy we were back and glared at our table whole night. Food was mediocre. Waiter had thumb in salad when delivering plates to table. We only ate there based on principle not for service or food.
Garozzo's is a true neighborhood gem. We love the downtown/Columbus Park location. Servers are all professional and do a great job. Wine is reasonably priced (by restaurant standards) and food is excellent. Hugh servings mean great leftovers for next day (or more)! Highly recommend!
