Garozzo's Ristorante - Kansas City Ratings and Reviews
I was disappointed this time at Garozza's. Our food was served lukewarm at best. While our waitress was nice, she had too many tables to be efficient. There were tables around us getting service and food sooner than we were even though we were seated sooner. The specials that night were not that good. Shrimp spedini and filet. There were four small shrimp and I wouldn't call the filet a filet. A steak knife was not provided but steak wasn't thick enough to need one. Not worth $32.00. Even those of us that had the chicken spedini said it was subpar this time. It was so crowded in that first room that even the waitresses could not get around.
Service was excellent! Chicken was very good. I think I ordered the chicken sanpede Garozzo which included pasta. I was very disappointed with the pasta as I was expecting an amazing one, since it was served on an Italian restaurant. It tasted like out of a can! Seriously the salsa is nothing by tomato-paste with no real-fresh tomatoes. Then I found a few mixed spaghetti in it!, when it supposed to be all penne ones! Didn't like it at all.
The bar staff, Katie, was great getting us a bottle of wine in the crowded bar and was very engaging. The food was fair. The signature red sauce tastes like it came out of a can. The trio of pasta had only 3 pieces of very good ravioli with a mountain of spaghetti and another pasta. I felt it was misrepresented on the menu Chicken carbonara was tasty
Garozzos has the best Italian food in Kansas City. We have been dining at the Lees Summit location for 15 years. On 11/22/2017 we dined at their original location in KC. Food was outstanding. Service very good.
We were seated 40 minutes late in a cold party room. Unacceptable.
There were three of us for lunch. One person is on a very restrictive diet which the chef was will to accommodate which we greatly appreciated. My spaghetti had a sweet taste which I've never experienced with spaghetti before. One individual had a salad which was good.
I always joke that Garozzo's would be my "death row final meal." I've been coming here since the beginning, and continue to come when I can. We had our son's rehearsal dinner at the OP location only because the downtown location doesn't have a large enough private room. But downtown has always been my favorite, it just has that added coolness of the Columbus Park neighborhood and the décor is so awesome. I honestly think the Bistecca Modiga is the best steak in Kansas City, and that's saying a lot in a steak town. It is consistently fantastic. We almost always get a stuffed artichoke. The house salad is perfection. Other favorites are the gnocchi, lasagna, and Tortelloni Gina. Also, I get the 3-Way Pasta 3 days before every half marathon as the ultimate carb load. I make 3 pre-race meals out of it. The chicken spiedini is obviously the specialty. My wife loves it, I ordered it so much initially I think I got tired of it. The Linguini Fruit de Mare is really fantastic for a land-locked restaurant. That's also a favorite of mine. Finally, I gotta give props to the eggplant parm. It's legit. I travel for work and eat out all the time, all over the country. And I can say that Garozzo's is my favorite restaurant anywhere. Long live Mike Garozzo!
Great dining experience at a great authentic Italian restaurant. We had booked a table for 7 PM and it was not ready when we arrived, so we had a cocktail in the bar area. Our server was very friendly and welcoming. The food was exceptional as always. Will be back soon. Cheers
First visit where the service wasn't as good as the food. We were another couple who had not tried this location before so the service really stuck out. Two waiters trying to share area/tables usually doesn't work well. Food was fantastic as always and we love the atmosphere!
The food was under seasoned. Sauces were watery. The pasta, however, was perfectly al dente . I appreciated the wine selection, especially for a family restaurant. The service was very good. They gladly and quickly exchanged my entree for a more satisfactory meal, and everyone was quite friendly even through I'm sure they were overwhelmed with guests. I wouldn't recommend, but only because the prices were high for the quality of food.
