Garland Ratings and Reviews
Food was exceptional. Many items on the menu were first time experiences. Service was very good but a little lacked. Dining area adjacent to bar and was energetic and somewhat loud. Wine list was okay; some hidden gems. Food was exciting and somewhat experimental and fun. Will return.
My wife and I chose Garland for our anniversary dinner because we had heard such good things, and the fact that is was a very "different' type of meal. Boy were we happy we did. From the small plates to the larger ones, which we shared, everything we had, from the duck, to the beets, to the pork lettuce wraps was absolutely fantastic. The cocktails were excellent too!
We do indeed love this place! The food is delicious , well prepared and presented well! The server remembered us from 3 months or so earlier and my wife's taste in wine. The food never disappoints.
The sound is the only negative as it is sometimes very hard to hear...but a wonderful dining treat!
I had been wanting to try Garland for quite a while, and was so glad that I finally did. Everything that we ordered was unique and delicious! We went with small plates so that we could have variety and share and we’re not disappointed. The portions were perfect! With regards to the staff, everyone from the hostess to the bar to the servers to the food runners and the floor manager, all made our visit very special. I would highly recommend Garland and I hope to go back soon!
We just finished eating tonight and was very disappointed. The food overall was not bad but our server L——y was horrible. After ordering our drinks it took over 10 minutes to receive, she showed up at our table with pen in hand for our order. She never asked anything, or explained specials, catch of day, etc. just stared at us awkwardly. After a couple of seconds we asked her what was the catch? And she told us very quietly. After ordering the food came later. Food was ok but not overly special. When we were finished it took over 15 minutes to get our check. We asked and then asked again. For us, eating out is an experience, not just good food. It doesn’t matter how good the food is, if the service was as bad as it was tonight, we would never go back. Not a great experience and we will not risk our time/money to try again.
Garland is a fantastic restaurant with always interesting and DELICIOUS food, locally sourced, creatively and beautifully presented. Excellent cocktails and wine, outstanding service, and a beautiful modern atmosphere that is chic yet inviting! I go eat at Garland every chance I get and have never been disappointed in the food or the experience. HIGHLY recommend it for small groups, special times, dates, and celebrations!
The food is pan Asian and delicious; not the normal "Asian" type food you might find in other places. I had a lettuce wrap platter filled with greens, picked vegies, dipping sauces and pork belly. Amazing taste and fun to eat. There are so many other choices too. The birds nest makes a great appetizer. I've been there twice and got the same dish. Need to go again and try something else!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the US! I brought a friend visiting from Seattle and he said the same thing. Extraordinary, creative, delicious cuisine. Local, beautiful ingredients. James Beard semi-finalist chef who works magic with herbs, spices, and quality ingredients. A+
This is a great spot. The food was outstanding (highly recommend the lamb sausage) and the atmosphere is comfortable and relatively quiet. Some fun signature cocktails and a couple of good mocktails for the underage set. Our server was a little inattentive, but she got some help from the other staff. It certainly won't dissuade us from going back.
Shrimp was over cooked, charred, and completely unseasoned. Our tteokbokki was undercooked. Our seating was awkwardly positioned with tables too small to accommodate plates. We were really excited to go to Garland and had planned ahead. We were heavily underwhelmed. Actually felt like throwing money away. Waitstaff was very pleasant. Only redeeming quality.
My husband and I ate here before attending a show at the Lincoln Theater. We ordered 4 shared plates which were all excellent! The Moroccan hummus and eggplant were our favorites. The candy dessert sampler was fun and different. Took awhile for the food to come out (3 shared plates came first and another followed later) but this was fine since we had a lot of time before the show (so allow enough time between your reservation and your other events for the night).
Once again a home run. We first tried Garland on my wife's birthday last year and have been back several times since then. We making the reservation I indicated it was my wife's birthday. I received a phone call the morning of confirming my reservation, asking about any special dietary concerns etc. Upon arriving we were promptly seated and greeted with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. Our server let us know the specials. We had the shishito peppers and the head on shrimp, along with red drum fish for our entree. Everything was absolutely out of this world. The education that the staff gives on food prep, and how to properly enjoy is very informative. Upon exiting we were greeted by Paul, one of the owners who talked to us for several minutes. This is such a great place. I can't recommend more highly.
The food was fantastic, but the service was terrible. We were seat at some weird table by the waiting area when there were clearly other better suited, atmosphere appropriate tables for two at the other parts of the restaurant. It felt like we were a burden for being there so they shoved into a crappy space and avoided us at all cost.
