Garibaldi's on Presidio Ratings and Reviews
Exactly as hoped. I was looking for a quiet, neighborhood place to have a business dinner with a colleague in from out of the country. This was perfect: seated promptly, great service, exceptional food, superior wines by the glass. Noise level low enough to have a conversation but loud enough to not worry about overhearing the next table (and vice verse).
One of our favorite neighborhood dining establishments. The food is diverse and delicious with many options for V and GF. The service isoutstanding with friendly waiters that answer all your questions and arrive promptly with your order. My favorite is the lamb salad. I dream about this and getting obsessive cravings - it’s that good!
We were grabbing a bite before a book talk at JCCSF. The waiter got us in and out even though we were a bit late. I must say that the food was outstanding. One of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. Bright interesting flavors, hearty but not heavy, very well executed. Will come again when I have more time.
I dine here on a very regular basis. Restaurant was empty when we arrived & were seated. The carpet had a odor & was very sticky ( chair literally stuck to the floor ) When I mentioned this to the wait staff they acted not interested in addressing this unsanitary situation. The service was extremely slow & disjointed. This restaurant filled up & there was not enough staff to address simple requests like water, salt & pepper, etc.
Thanksgiving 2017, made reservations 2 months in advance only to be given a table with a view of kitchen and adjacent to the waiter station. This was our first holiday after losing the family matriarch and first time to see our daughter in months. Very disappointed. Food was not bad, but nothing special either. Service was good but couldn’t make up for the 100 per person cost.
We have been going to Garibaldi’s for many years but I have to give the food a poor rating this time. My friend and I both ordered the mussels and they were lacking in flavor and not cleaned enough - too much grit. The French fries were good, as was the dessert, but not the mussels. Also, there was a fly that kept bombarding us and we couldn’t get rid of it! Not the best experience we have had at Garibaldi’s.
Has to go down as one of the best restaurants in the city over many years . The food is always of a very excellent quality and the hospitality extended
by all the staff is always so gracious . Setting this neighborhood restaurant in a very special category of fine dining eating establishments .
Great food! Loved the crispy potatoes and calamari. The liver pate was not a hit with any of our group of 4, though. The tagliatelle and the mussels were outstanding! We shared the espresso ice cream with pralines and licked up every morsel. It was quiet partly because we dined before the crowds, at 6:30, and also we were able to sit in the back. A friend had recommended this place and we will definitely teturn.
I love Garibaldis except when the noise level precludes normal conversation as it did Saturday night. Please invest in sound baffling. It can be made of cloth and not be terribly expensive. I consider your restaurant to be the best in the city and I want to keep coming. Thank you, Ellen Fox
Tables in the back are much quieter if conversation during dinner is what you like. Our service was outstanding. Water glasses always filled. Frequent checks by waiter offering suggestions and checking on our satisfaction. Food was delicious and as described in menu and by waiter. Great location for us.
I’ve been going to this restaurant for 35 years. Wonderful neighborhood eatery. HOWEVER< second time in a row the noise from 4 extremely loud cackling women ruined the meal. Management fails to protect its regular guests from this type of obnoxious conduct. The two women seated next to me on the side were also appalled at the behavior and lack of intervention. Makes it very tough to go back with so many other options.
I was so disappointed by our entire experience. We went for a special evening and the food was inedible yet expensive. The service was also extremely disappointing - the meal was rushed and they never asked how the dishes tasted, just took them away. It was also very loud - mostly due to the bartender who was practically screaming!
Very attentive service made our lunch quite enjoyable. The Garibaldi Salad was especially fresh and tasty and the side order of croquettes was tasty and a perfect complement. Also the budino dessert was fabulous and well worth the 10 minute wait; moreover, the small version was a generous portion that 3 of us shared.
