We actually arrived @5 before dining room and full kitchen were open, so canceled our rez & ate in the bar area from Happy Hour menu.
Our server (and bartender) was very friendly and accommodating. Overall, a very nice experience.
Love this place, the drinks and food are outstanding and it's in a perfect location right off the delightful shopping on Sacramento. Don't miss this SF gem!
Bad table at the front door. No separation from the door opening and people waiting to be seated. Standing over you while you’re eating. Too bad but spoiled the visit.
It's been years since I've been here, and the first time for the others. All enjoyed the experience. The food was very good. We shared the brussel sprouts, beets, poke & gnocchi, all were very good. We had one chicken milanese, short rib and mushroom risotto. The chicken & short rib were very good. The risotto was a bit flat until we added some salt, then it was tasty. Service was attentive.
Exceptional food, service and wine selection. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend the Brussel sprouts any of the salads, the lamb and the amazing short rib pot roast.
Last had been there for our rehearsal dinner, 20+ yrs ago. When my wife found out it was still open we wanted to give it a try. Feels timeless, but not out of date. It's a good restaurant for a nice dinner out. Food was very good and service good. We had the gnocchi. Is different that other places. Not fluffy potato. More like a kind of fry. Had their signature salad with apple and nuts. The walnuts were the best part. Wife had Chicken Milanese and I had the Tagliatelle. Both were good but not exceptional. WIne selection by glass is good - 10+ of white and red.
Our Vietnamese Sizzling Beef dish was very disappointing - way to salty and way too much oyster sauce and the filet was TEENY-TINY. It was $40 and the most expensive dish on the menu. There must have been a kitchen problem because it took FOREVER for our main course to arrive. We asked for bread and did not receive it until we after we finished our appetizers. The squid appetizer was delicious, as was the chocolate dessert.
The personal touch they gave is worth mentioning: Our waitress was sweet and as attentive as she could be considering the number of tables she worked. While making the OpenTable reservation, I noted it was our anniversary and they treated us very kindly, mentioning it several times throughout the evening, and presenting us with a glass of champagne when we were first arrived. The food and service afterward did not rise to the same level.
The lamb salad is fabulous. We have been coming here for years and always for this salad. Delish
I had my wedding dinner at Girabaldi's with just a few friends and family. The ambiance and location was excellent. The round table was fantastic. It made our event more intimate. The waiter was busy but attentive. I would have loved if he asked us what we were celebrating. We ordered two bottles of champagne to celebrate, but alas the evening felt more just a regular dinner rather than something memorable. It's not something that they had to do, but I also left a note for open table when I reserved saying that it's a wedding dinner. In any case, it was a good time. I would recommend this place for an easy evening meal.
The food and service was outstanding. The good service was notable since we were told two servers were absent. We were seated in the rear room that was simply too noisy.
A great surprise to have dinner I. Our old neighborhood at our local restaurant.. where we were celebrating our 30th and found out so was Garabaldi’s!!!
A wonderful dinner with my husband and daughter!
Great atmosphere n menu
No specials on Sunday night. Ordered salad specifically asking no cheese. They added cheese. Allergic. Too much greens. Better at lunch time.
While usually good, Garibaldi's really missed the mark on my last visit. Terribly slow service, do waiters to be seen to help out, and we were seated in the back room (despite a request for the front room and tables were available). Will have to think twice before heading back.
Date night for my husband and I to celebrate 37 years together!
Wonderful service and outstanding beef filet and mushroom risotto and Italian Chardonnay.
It felt like a revolving door, the bill was on the table before we finished desert. We were there for 45 mins. Expensive fast food.
Garibaldi's did not disappoint. My friend and I had her birthday dinner there and it was just as wonderful as I remember. This place has become one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants in SF.
Tuna tartar=over salted. Vegetable salad= little flavor. Short rib pot roast= gamey and fatty. Chicken Milanese =good, but basic. Wine offerings good. Prices = high. Server didn't check to see if food was ok, bus person removed an untouched $32 dollar plate of food, left hungry and with a light wallet... yet somehow the server was charming enough that it wasn't an unpleasant experience. Just won't ever return.
The food was very good, but extremely expensive given the choices. Drinks were outstanding. Our table was in the center of all things service, so there was constant activity to/from kitchen and bar. Not relaxing at all. We felt like we were "in the way." The tables are extremely close to each other and, for a $40 main course, I really don't want to hear my neighbors' conversation. All in all, the restaurant is good, but the layout is not comfortable.
Great food and wine👍
Still really good after all these years!
Feel this is more of an upscale but neighborhood feel restaurant. Food and service were excellent. Second time here (from Arizona) and will be returning.
We've dined at Garibaldi's for many years and it never disappoints. Always a pleasure to be there. Our only complaint is a common one -- too noisy!
P.S. to Open Table -- I wish you would change your positive-sounding "Energetic" to "Too loud for conversation" or make it a next level rating.
Way too loud!!!!!
Fairly knowledgable waiter regarding wine selections. Offered us a taste before we each decided on a glass. Brussel Sprout small plate very good. Their specialty chicken was nicely done. Nice ambiance for a neighborhood style place. Had a good time & enjoyed our food & wine.
Garibaldi's ice cream is always a great treat. Delicious.
The cook/owner was so cheap he refused to provide a cookie with ice cream dessert for my 90 year old mother on a $300+ dinner. Beef Stew was horrible. Really?
Chicken Parm was great. The rest of food forgettable, especially in the city that offers some of them best Italian food outside Italy. Service was so bad. The food runner was amazing. Our server hated the fact he had to work that day. He was so out of it. We wont go back
It’s loud & expensive. The maitre’d & the waiter tried hard but something must have been off with the kitchen. The tuna crudo was mushy & the risotto balls were cold. The chicken milanese however was great as were the Negronis.
Service always a bit spotty (depends on who you get). Albeit we went on a busy night but disappointed I'd relayed to both the host and server that it was my son's birthday that day and they didn't even bring out a candle to wish him a happy birthday. It's the little things that matter, especially for a neighborhood spot.
Food here usually always solid....main reason why I'm a repeat offender here.
We were greeted warmly and discovered that there was a special prix fixe menu for $30. It turned out to be a very good deal. We each enjoyed an appetizer, a tasty chicken Milanese, and a dessert. Everything was delicious. My only complaint was that it took awhile to get our glasses refilled. Otherwise, the service was great.
Great neighborhood spot. Comfortable and good food
There lamb dish, usually my favorite and so succulent, was over-cooked.
Had a nice meal with great service. Will be back soon.
Our go to place, for great food and service! Never fails. Best chicken Milenese ever
Neighborhood gem. We’ve been going for years and it never disappoints.
The September special menu was a good value, and the food options offered were delicious. Waiter/server (Ben) was courteous, friendly and professional considering the busy atmosphere of the restaurant due to the special menu.
It was our 21st wedding anniversary and they were so sweet ( literally ) treating us to dessert and after dinner champagne. The zucchini fritters and risotto were delicious. Great wine and as always, amazing service. Our long time fav restaurant in SF.
Wait service was very friendly and good. Garibaldi's salad was disappointing all salad leaves and walnuts no stone fruit. Not as good as in the past.
Always a treat to eat at Garibaldi’s!
