Garibaldi - Savannah
Expensive for what you get. A bottle of wine started ad 45 or 65 and went up from there. Our sever forgot our appetizer. We both had the fresh oyster, shrimp and small lobster tail at $33 each. They were good but nothing that was outstanding. The dining room is dark, small and very noisy. There are so many restaurants to pick from in Savannah, I would not go back, but only for the reason there are probably better choices at these price points.
Daffny was nice.
Service sucked due to overbooking...told to me by the upstairs Supervisor.
1.5 hours later only 1 of 3 salads had arrived.
Med Veal chop arrived well done.
I am a 30 year customer, but greed appears to have replaced exceptionally good service
Daphne was terrific, thanks so much!
I was in from ATL visiting, and took my daughter and her man, and everyone really loved it. Beautiful 18th century period decor.
Food was good. Ice cream was terrible. Chairs were VERY uncomfortable. Alfredo sauce under the lobster tails was sitting in a pool of butter. Not much cream sauce to be seen. Veal Parm was very good. Service was wonderful.
The food and service was amazing!
Food was good, but restaurant was very dark.
This is a great Italian style restaurant! The food was great! The service was great! A reservation is recommended
We have been going to Garibaldi’s for over twenty years now, and will continue that habit. It is a favorite place to celebrate a special occasion! We always request a window seat, but never really get one. We are usually “near” a window, so we don’t complain. We had a wonderful 72nd birthday dinner for my wife, and continued our Garibaldi’s enjoyment!
Always a great experience! Beautiful space, friendly staff and delicious food.
What a fabulous evening. Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived until we walked out the door. Our waiter, Bobby, was knowledgeable and attentive. The food was amazing. Our table of 5 had veal chops, scallops, veal Marsala and seafood fettuccine. It was all superb. I would highly recommend and hope to return next time I'm in Savannah.
My family and I visit Garibaldi's at least once a year.
The food itself is outstanding as is the location and the vibe/atmosphere.
Value for money is good overall but some menu choices are well overpriced.
Service is usually outstanding. Not so this time. Our specific waiter was outstanding but the support staff and management came across as not communicating well internally as a team.
My starter was a crab gumbo special. It came to the table but without a spoon. I had to wait a while to catch a staff member and my spouse got hold of another waiter and she brought a tea spoon. When our waiter came back he brought the proper table spoon but so much time elapsed that the gumbo was like warm. I asked our waiter to send it back and either hear it up or provide a new bowl. He said he’d provide a new bowl. Shortly later, we spotted support staff wandering around our table and others with a gumbo and a second replacement of my wife’s appetizer (that didn’t need to be changed) - but ultimately that person looked lost, didn’t know what table to go to and left. After some time, our waiter brought my gumbo back but it appeared to have been heated - not replaced as he said - since I could still see my original pepper shakes on it. I did originally say I didn’t mind it being heated, but when the waiter brings back the original after a lost server wandering the floor, it was a disappointment.
Similar episodes were witnessed multiple times with staff wandering the floor with food for other tables and not knowing where to go and then leaving.
When it came time for our dessert, while there was nothing amiss with it, shortly thereafter a manager wandered around the floor and looked closely at us as he circled our table before leaving without speaking with a duplicate set of desserts that we didn’t need.
Clearly staff training, communication and execution is lacking and that was disappointing for a typically outstanding across the board restaurant.
Must go for any trip to Savannah. Food is excellent staff are super friendly and efficient and accommodating.
The food was excellent- everyone in our group loved it. The only problem we had was our dessert seemed to take forever to arrive- in fact we had to ask our server to check on it for us. When it finally came the coffee was cold and the sorbet was a little melted- it seemed like the order had sat somewhere for awhile instead of coming to the table. But other than that, our server was very attentive and the dinner was delicious.
Everything was overall great! It was loud. However, the dining area is in a small place, so it makes sense. Food and service was awesome. Our server was very tentative and sweet.
Went there after getting married
First time, great food and great ambiance - Excellent first experience!
Recommend this place but with a few cautions It is NOT a place for a quiet dinner at all. Though the white wine prices are reasonable, there was not one Italian red that was a reasonable choice price-wise. Tables are very close together and service persons are moving by briskly to maintain the flow of food and drink.
That being said, the dishes that we ordered were very good to outstanding and certainly were generous portions. Our waiter was polished and accommodating where he could be.
I would return, but would try a table upstairs next time.
From beginning to end, this was a perfect dining experience. Our waiter, Bobby, was polite, knowledgeable, and fun. Bobby suggested that the bar throw together a virgin cocktail for my wife who is pregnant and asked what her tastes are and the bar absolutely delivered. The food was delicious and there wasn’t a speck of food left on either of our plates. We were both pleasantly surprised when the bill came and the total was very reasonable. This is a place we will suggest others go to when they say they’re headed to Savannah.
We had an early anniversary dinner here and it was fantastic. Great service from Daphne and the food was excellent.
We had an enjoyable dinner. My wife did order the steak Diane but didn't enjoy the sauce so she was just going to eat the steak by itself - however our server, Ashley, let the manager know and he came over immediately. He was very helpful in trying to suggest another entree for her. She ultimately chose a seafood pasta that had shrimp, mussels and lobster in a creamy parmesan sauce. She absolutely enjoyed it! We will be going back soon just so she can have that again. Overall it was delicious and our server was the best. We appreciate how accommodating they all were. Well done!
the food was delicious, and the service was outstanding! we loved it all and would highly recommend going. we will go back again soon
Food tasted good and the service was great. The only trouble was it was quite expensive and I left hungry.
Great food with rear service! Garibaldi’s is consistent in both and that always makes fo r a great experience.
The food was exceptional and the service was great. It was not very busy for a Friday night but we did make reservations.
We celebrated my mother in law’s birthday.... it was the perfect venue!
Classic old style southern dining
Food was good. Was a little disappointed in service for the price.
Great refreshing environment. As the restaurant got more busy the service attentiveness slipped (due to upstairs large parties). Food was well prepared. Several items were not available (surprising as our reservations were early). A repeat visit is very likely.
Small wedding reception. Service was great! And the food was perfect.
Overall experience was poor, our server began by giving us time to relax and get settled in. He soon returned for drink order, and before our drinks arrived was back to place food order. We were happy not to be rushed but he returned again for entree order. Everything between appetizer, salads and entree arrived at the same time. Appetizer was disappointing, little neck clams had eight shells but only six clams (poor value at $12). Special caprese salad was good, but had to be eaten after the entree or food would get cold having come at the same time. Atmosphere is on the noisy side, we were seated directly outside the restrooms even though the restaurant was only 30% full. We went for a relaxing birthday celebration, and we had our check within 40 minutes of arrival for a three course meal. Drinks and food mediocre at best.
Great food. Excellent service. Snapper dish was unusual but wonderful. Recommend a not to miss place
The steak was perfect! Codi-Ann took care of us, she was fantastic!
Outstanding. On of the families favorite restaurants.
What a disappointment. First I asked for a Beefeater martini. No Beefeater. When I asked what other brands they served, the server took out a card and started reading vodkas. (Beefeater is a gin.) She then had trouble with the specials. We ordered tomatoes and mozarella, then got fried green tomatoes. They were embarrassed, offered them gratis, then finally served the mozz and tomatoes. Not very good. Next came lasagna and veal in lemon sauce (I forget the Italian name). Lasagna was bland, and veal had some kind of multiple ingredient sauce that looked and tasted nothing like what was ordered and expected. Ordered pecan pie for dessert and got a slice that was topped with ribbons of chocolate sauce. Yuck. Then they presented the bill. I had chosen another gin, after much fuss. The martini was on the bill for eighteen dollars. Yes, you read that right. Eighteen dollars. I told our captain that we are from NY and have NEVER paid eighteen dollars for a martini. He told me that they pay expensive rent and must keep their prices where they are in order to survive. It may sound like I made this up. I promise, this is exactly what happened.
I was recommended by a friend to try Garibaldi’s & I was not disappointed. My party of six all enjoyed the food & terrific service.
Service was great. Our food came out quick and was delicious. The restaurant and ambience was perfect for our anniversary. Would definitely recommend and come back.
This restaurant is in a very beautiful building and had very cozy booths. We could carry on a conversation easily with little noise. It has good veal, fish, and pasta dishes that were very well prepared and presented.
Great location and service. Unfortunately our food was nothing special and very bland.
The food was great and the service was very good. But it was so noisy that I thought my head would explode.
Excellent restaurant with classic “old town” decor and vibe. Elaborate menu and decent wine list. Seafood and fish selections were well prepared and presented...and were delicious. Service was perfect mix of friendly and knowledgeable and attentive. Gets quite noisy when filled. Highly recommended.
