Very cozy and warm restaurant. Staff was outstanding in service and explained to specials perfectly. We had an exceptional time and will be returning for future outings .
Enjoyable experience. Nice touch when our server presented us with a Happy Anniversary card when she delivered our dessert. We'll be coming back again with friends.
We are never disappointed when we go to Gardner’s. The service is outstanding. I did notice that portions have gone down and prices have gone up, but that is understandable due to the higher minimum wage. The desserts are absolutely the best!!!
Staff are always warm and engaging. Food is always delicious.
Excellent Food! Always great service and perfect atmosphere
I always love coming to Gardner's. We feel so welcome and part of the family, yet always professional service. We've never been disappointed.
One of the best meals we have had out to eat ever! Service was great, vibe was amazing, and it wasn’t a rushed experience but perfectly timed inbetween courses.
Dining @Gardiners is always a treat..tonight was no exception!
We had a enjoyed a delicious and well-presented dinner early on a Saturday evening. The only reason I gave 3 stars for ambiance and value is the interior is very open, non-descript and does not seem to support the prices, although, again, delicious! $150+ for 2 people sharing 6 raw oysters, 4 martinis, 1 scallop special (3 scallops with 2 pieces of pork belly, mashed potatoes, and shredded brussel sprouts - nothing high dollar), 1 cup of clam chowder and a side salad, and 1 lemon mousse for dessert. We will be back, value or not, because it was a wonderful meal we both smiled every bite.
We had a delicious, romantic dinner. We would highly recommend Gardner's, their service was outstanding!
The unassuming exterior gives no clue of what awaits inside. I’ve had the pleasure of having dinner here twice since relocating to Olympia from the east coast a few years ago. It would stand its own against any restaurant, anywhere. It’s an absolute gem!
We went here for our 5th Anniversary after having a friend babysit for us. We’d never been to Gardner’s but are happy that we tried it. It’s small, but very cozy. This is not the place to bring children, as it’s definitely a romantic spot. The food was delicious. We had the French onion soup, Caesar salad, the top sirloin, the chicken parm, and creme brûlée. Everything was delicious, but if were being honest, the salad wasn’t that impressive. Everything else though we’d order again. We will be back!
2 out of 5 enjoyed the meal. Blue cheese salad was bitter with very little flavor. My chicken parmesan was so salty it couldn't be eaten and I like salt. I took it home and 3 of us tried it again and we thew it all out. The cioppino was like eating thick spicy tomato sauce and it was the first time my husband hasn't finished his meal. The Seafood Trio was more like a soup with a lot of liquid, flavor was ok. The waiter came back as she should have about a minute after the entree was served to check it all was ok. I had a small bite of my dish a that point but hadn't tasted the chicken yet, just the pasta. She didn't come back for 30-40 minutes and my food sat in front of me the entire time. Trying to make it a nice birthday celebration and not making a fuss for my guest, I pushed the food around to make it look like I was enjoying the meal.. but it was not a fun meal for the $420.00 I spent Because she automatically received a 20% tip because of a party of 5 I felt we got bare minimal service. Never said a word about an entire meal sitting there and she boxed it up and nerve asked if everything was ok, She had to many tables to wait on and we got the tail end of her service. Desserts were good!
The owner called me yesterday and basically said she didn't know why but it was a really busy Thursday night and she wished I would have said something. I would have if the waiter had every came back to our table Like I stated my food sat in front of me for 30 - 40 minutes before the table was cleared and food boxed up. She stated because the food was boxed up there was no reason to ask if the uneaten meal was ok. She also said they brine the chicken and she had tasted it earlier, hmmm, Im a chef and I can tell you it was not good. Love good food, enjoy good service but I got and apology for my experience.
We love this place for the atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food! This time did not disappoint.
We love this restaurant, it is by far the best restaurant I’ve ate at in Olympia. The setting is relaxed, it’s small yet private, the only recommendation I would make is maybe the menu is a little limited but more is not always better and like I said best in oly.
Great food and the service is always fantastic. I would recommend Gardners to anyone that wants a great all around dining experience.
The onion soup was barely warm and had to be reheated. All four vegetable sides were not even warm and had to be reheated. For the prices charged, food should be piping hot. Crab casserole was perfect. Polenta had no flavor at all. Wait staff was friendly and attentive, but thought that they were a little under-staffed.
We enjoyed the nice quiet atmosphere - surprising because the restaurant was mostly full.
We felt well taken care of by not only our server but the rest of the staff.
And, as usual the food was phenomenal! Thank you for making it a lovely late-Valentines dinner!
We've already referred at least three people this week to go there!
Although the appetizer was a bit too spicy for my palate (steamed clams), I couldn't stop eating them because the beautiful blend of spices out weighed my brief discomfort. Our server Brook was extremely helpful answering my questions and was very helpful. Everything was amazing. We will return.
Gardner’s is one of my favorite restaurants in Olympia. I always order razor clams as an appetizer and sometimes get them as my entree. The last two times they were missing something that makes them so delicious. They use to come with a lemon butter drizzled over the top. I asked if they forgot to butter/lemon sauce this last time and was informed they no longer serve them that way. However, the menu description still lists lemon butter. It’s disappointing and will not order them again.
I have to say in my first trip to the PNW the food overall here falls a little short of other “foodie towns” like say .... Charleston, Asheville, Savannah ......
The ambiance at Gardners was cozy .... our server was over the top gracious..... the food just a little lacking ....... scallops were OK ..... accompanied beets seemed a little off or disinteresting ......
Wouldn’t come here expecting a real culinary experience.
The food was great but a little on the pricey side. The service was excellent. A little loud in the restaurant but regardless a great experience.
This was our first time here, but we really enjoyed it. We weren't sure what to expect based on the outside, but the inside was very nice. Great food and excellent service.
Our waitress was outstanding. We had a reservation mixup which was stressful, but they fixed it. The food is very good, but menu is a little limited. The Manhattans were perfect.
Gardner’s is our favorite Olympia restaurant. Food and cocktails are always outstanding.
Had a very nice Valentine's Day dinner! Food was great. Loved the calamari appetizer! Dinner and dessert was wonderful.
Our server Alex was amazing! She knew the menu like she prepared and cooked the food herself! Our food was delicious, beautiful and prompt! We got a few moments with the owner who was very nice as well as the owners daughter who did an excellent job with the dessert tray. Such a wonderful experience and we will come back again and again. Thank you so much.
Our entrees were terrific and the service was foot on, but the mushroom risotto was very dry and over cooked, as were the fingerling potatoes.
This was a wonderful experience! I loved how intimate the restaurant is. It was like being transported to a different world when you walk in. The employees are friendly a d helpful. The food was delicious. Completely worth spending a little bit more. My husband and I will definitely be returning for future date nights.
We had Dungeness crab stuffed sole. Excellent. We saved room to each have desert. I had Marionberry cobbler with ice cream on top, my wife had a pecan tart with short bread crust and praline ice cream on top. Both deserts were delicious.
The service was courteous and timely. The room was quiet even though the restaurant was about 60 percent full. It was a very relaxing atmosphere. We enjoyed it very much.
We consider Gardeners to be a very consistently high quality restaurant which is a good value. We rate it as the best restaurant in the Olympia area.
I love Gardner's! You can always count on beautifully prepared food (including amazing desserts) and polished service. I am thankful for Gardner's because they are one of a kind and I like supporting them.
I have one request though, and this goes for all fine dining restaurants: For a party of two, please don't clear the plates of one person who is finished eating while the other person is still eating (or at least ask them if they want the dishes cleared). It makes the person who is still eating feel like they are eating alone and it is awkward.
Great as always. We always try to be there for our birthdays.
I wanted to find a really special place for my mother- in- law's 93rd birthday and Gardner's was the perfect choice. The food was absolutely delicious, service attentive without being intrusive, entire experience just what we were looking for. It's definitely a special occasion restaurant price wise but worth every penny.
Always good food and service at Gardner’s
Razor clam appetizer is amazing, I had the Lamb, done perfect
One of the best restaurants in Olympia for sure. Always good. Thx.
The outside does not look promising, but once you step through the door impressions totally change. Cozy and romantic interior with low noise level. Good selection of dishes and excellent preparation. Some very innovative dishes! LOTS of daily specials -- almost a second menu!
A real hidden gem! A little pricey, but you are buying value!
First time here. Food was excellent. Cocktail choices were unique and very good. I had the Gardner’s in house specialty Martini. Excellent & attentive waitstaff.
Very nice place. Quiet and comfortable. Service was great. Food was excellent.
This is the second time I’ve been to Gardner’s and both times were exceptional! My wife and I were alone the first time, it was candle lit and romantic. Saturday night we were with friends and it was a blast, we drank, laughed, and had a wonderful meal. The restaurant is small but the floor plan is set up for an intimate dining experience, the price is at the upper end for Olympia but not overpriced. Gardner’s is by far the absolute best restaurant in and around the Olympia area hands down without a doubt.
