Perfect service at this hidden local gem located inside a resort/spa. Creative and tasty food with options for vegans and omnivores. Good cocktails and local wines. Definitely will go back!

We had Father's Day/graduation celebration brunch at Avila. Ambience is fine, but service was spotty for the type of restaurant with the types of prices they had for brunch. It could be that they increased prices for Father's Day, but the execution of their breakfast items failed to impress some of us, and for one person, she barely ate her breakfast due to the poor quality of preparation and taste. My husband's eggs were nearly cold, and my latte was not hot enough. Brunch was disappointing for the type of "resort" they are portraying themselves to be. Overpriced for the quality of food. Won't return for the food.

We were celebrating our son’s graduation from Cal Poly SLO, and this restaurant was a perfect choice! Everything was just delightful—charming service and delicious food, with a warm ambiance. We will definitely return!

Its definitely a date night restuarant for me, but boy- it is well worth it. We had the scallop (imported from Spain) risotto and the seafood special, pasta with local scallops- obviously much better in terms of scallops. But everything was phenomenal. We also tried multiple craft cocktails that were legit. I can not stress how much service can make or break an experience- even featuring phenomenal food. That being said, Landon was our server- and I've never had a more delightful experience (unless the server was a friends- but that's different). He went above, and beyond; and it was never in a hover-y or pushy manner. He absolutely was the epitome of hospitality.

Brunch was fabulous. We ordered the chicken and waffles- it was so flavorful, tender juicy, melt in your mouth chicken. The waffles were fresh... served with maple syrup. Wow!

This was a lovely experience. Food was exceptional and service was excellent. One of the best experiences during a memorable trip. We will go again during our next stay.

Burger was excellent, had great flavor asked for crispy french fries which came nicely crunchy and were absolutely delicious. Lamb came blood rare, after request was returned better, however lacked in flavor. Black fingerling potatoes looked interesting, did not taste good. We were told the lamb dish was " very large" dish. In fact it was quite a small serving size. Ambiance was pleasant and service good.

Great food, service and ambiance though pricey especially the drinks. The restaurant could have also mention or did a little something for our anniversary especially we are staying at the resort. Complimentary dessert or drinks would have been a plus.

Dined during our one night anniversary stay at the hotel. The restaurant is unassuming but surprisingly good! I ate and loved the vegetable pasta special and my husband ate and enjoyed the Ribeye. The home-made cheesecake and blood orange sauce were absolutely delicious. I love when servers can recommend dishes and cocktails and know how everything is prepared (we had a great server). You should dine here!

Restaurant was nice and convenient if staying at the property. Food was inconsistent -- dining partner and I had same entree, one was very good but the other mediocre. Dessert was quite small. Mixed drink from the bar was poor -- a lot of alcohol but not well made. So, for price, expected better/more consistent quality. Server was excellent and made us feel welcome and unhurried.

I definitely would recommend this place. It was convenient, romantic, tasty, and had friendly service. My only issue was that we were sat by the fireplace, which was warm and romantic but there is a swinging door that the staff goes in and out of constantly. I recommend the restaurant work on that door.

Everything was great as usual. Warm bacon spinach salad. Wife good halabut special and I good the filet. Finished off splitting the chocolate cake......just great flavors and good portions. Will be back in the future guaranteed! !!!

Service was not good. To say the waitress was disinterested is an understatement. The food was ok but not great. Overall, because the food was just ok I give it 3 stars.

The restaurant has a a very nice ambiance and attentive wait staff. The food was very well prepared with good sized portions. I didn't want my salmon poached and they grilled it for me instead. No corkage if you bring a local wine

We absolutely loved this place.. the food was amazing..please try their Fried Chicken.. the absolute best. The service was amazing. and overall a beautiful restaurant.. Thank you for making my husbands birthday special!

The Gardens has been hit and miss for us. On this visit I ordered the Filet Mignon medium rare and it came very rare. For a $55 dish that is simply a nice cut of meat and potatoes it should be perfection or close to it. My husband had a seafood pasta dish that was good, but unremarkable. They no longer offer complimentary bread. We continue to patron the Gardens as a matter of convenience, but next time I think we will just have an appetizer at The Lounge...comes out of the same kitchen, but casual atmosphere and menu additions.

We went for restaurant month! We hadn’t been here and we are local and wanted to check it out. Food was delicious and beautiful and the service was great! Ambiance was nice. I’d go back for sure

Our waiter was not so good & we had to ask the bus boy many times for services. The food was good but not great and my husbands portion of noodles was about three bites or $.30 worth. The ambiance is lovely

The food was delicious; we chose from the Restaurant Month menu--Scallop appetizer was delicious, done perfectly, the duck was also perfectly done, good dessert.

The waiter, though pleasant, seemed to really not know what he was doing; one of our party asked for bread or crackers--he looked at her uncomprehending. "Crackers? he asked" He did bring our some kind of crackers that looked like a flat bread, which was fine;. There were bread plates on the table; Don't know why this wasn't offered initially, or why he was so uncomprehending of the request.

When he was serving the dessert I said that we all wanted some coffee. He then asked "would anyone like coffee?" It was a bit wierd.

He did come around during each course to see if we were pleased with the food.

What an amazing dinner! I wanted to have a great night out and ordered quite the spread of food. Andrew is a great server and hit the perfect balance of being attentive while giving us our space. Even the other server on duty Jesse(?) stopped by to offer wine pairing ideas. The local bread appetizer was amazing with the artisan butter that came with it. We followed that with Al Pastor tacos and then our entrees consisting of the Sycamore burger and the smoked chicken tortellini. Everything tasted amazing. We did have a couple drinks to try out as well. My girlfriend had the watermelon martini which she loved and I had to get the garden margarita because nothing beats a good margarita made with jalapeño. All in all this was a great place to have dinner and I know we will be coming back again! Would love to check out the hot tubs they offer at the hotel.

The online menu had great choices but when we arrived the menu was very limited. The verde passole was amazing but the burger was too average to charge that much for.

I had a burger here a year ago and it was very good. My wife and I came back this year with a couple friends because it was quiet, elegant and the food was very good. I read reviews and most were on the very favorable side with a few gripes.
This time I got the $30 three course meal and it could not have been better. First class starting with scallops. I chose the duck as a main course and it was cooked just as I requested and was so good. Perfect sauces for the app and the entree. For dessert was blueberry cheesecake. My friends had a variety of the other options including the hamburger and a fish dish and all four of us were very impressed. The price was great also. $200 for four of us which included three glass of house wine and a couple cocktails. This is a bargain and with first class quality.

I loved the seating in the back of the restaurant. It was peaceful and quiet. Our server was able to correct a mistake. I had ordered a package deal with dinner included. However, we didn't know that we could ONLY pick from the month menu. She was able to swap it with a food credit, so that we could order what we wanted. It was very nice, since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary.

Overall- it was good,except waitress brought a bread combo plate with a charge without explanation. I felt like tourist who was charged an extra without explanation. We’ve been there about twenty years. We always love atmosphere and have a dinner when we stay at resort. In next time, just explain....probably other guests want to hear the same.
