Gardenia's is our go to restaurant for an excellent meal and low key cozy vibe. Where we like to be with our oldest, warmest friends and celebrate our most special occasions.
My coworkers birthdays ! Fabulous place , food and service !
We loved our dinner at Gardenias. It’s a quiet neighborhood joint that isn’t crowded or pretentious, and has a comfortable ambience. Both the food and the service was terrific. I’m envious of the locals who get to eat here often.
Gardenia's is so so so consistently wonderful, delicious, and really helps with the hard times we are all still working hard to get through. Thank you, Gardenias - all of you!
Menu is limited, bread and butter costs $8, pork chop was a bit overcooked. The seared scallop appetizer tasted well but again, the scallop is almost fully cooked rather than seared. We ended up having a snack right after our meals because we don’t feel full. It is ok to try once, but for the price we paid, we have had better dishes elsewhere.
All good! Cozy and intimate, excellent food though the menu is small in terms of choice. I will certainly return for more.
My friend forgot her CDC vaccine card- but the hostess made a table for us outside up front and everyone was so lovely we had a great dinner with excellent service.
Amazing service. Adorable restaurant with fresh seasonal food.
Our meals were delicious! Unique combinations with the freshest of ingredients. A lovely vibe.
They went above and beyond. It was a beautiful and delicious evening.
Overall, it was a great experience. I would definitely come back here for another meal with friends or fam. Had the seared scallops as an app and the short ribs for dinner. Excellent sauce on the ribs and the polenta was cooked great. Brussel sprouts were a bit on the crunchier side.
Excellent as always
Food fabulous, wine was unique and wonderful, service was great. Dessert superb and interesting flavor combo. Great ambiance- cool, chill, and chic. Will return again soon.
Gardenias created a wonderful warm (despite the open doors) and safe environment (smooth and simple covid protocols) to stretch into an evening of reconnecting with friends. The menu was a curated best of the season. The seared scallops with sauteed corn was my favorite bite of the evening. My duck entree was also superb.
Between 6 of us we had all 5 entrees and each one was delicious. Our server was personable and attentive, and the small courtyard in the back provided the perfect ambience. Highly recommend!
Delicious!! All fresh ingredients beautifully prepared. A high point in our visit. Many thanks.
Had lovely outdoor table and very attentive waiter. Food was excellent. Only negative was we were asked to leave at 2 hour point as they said 6 people were waiting for our table. We were a table of 4. I had not quite finished my wine and felt rushed out. Their outdoor seating area is small but should plan 2.5 hours for a group. We were seeing friends from out of town so rather an abrupt ending.
Very cute spot with a superb service and wine.
We dined many times over many years at Woodward's Garden, when it was operated by the same team. We mourned the passing of the restaurant. We came late to the party that they had relocated to Gardenias. It is a greater distance to travel, so we put off going. That was a mistake. Not a tragic one, but close. We deprived ourselves of the many pleasures of dining here for too long. Needless to say, we will not repeat that mistake.
What an amazing find! Jeffrey was right on with his recommendations and the dishes were outstanding! Wonderful ownership and involvement brings a huge difference. Will definitely return.
Nice, intimate spot in Pac Heights. Really interesting dishes with fresh ingredients.
Nice cozy neighborhood vibe with excellent service. Menu was creative and volume of choices not overwhelming. Dishes were well presented and flavors were pleasing. The prices are a tad steep, which may be an offset of covid limiting tables and staff. Overall a wonderful experience and will visit again. Did not get to experience outside patios but rear patio looked lovely
Lovely space, they kept doors open for air circulation and outdoor dining option. Wait staff busy and cheerful. They may be under staffed but made up for it in ambience and food. Pinot was perfect pairing. Food outstanding
Understated place but really good food - interesting combinations. Service was very friendly. We had a very enjoyable meal and would certainly return. Nice garden area at the rear.
Every plate was clean which is not our usual— this is going to be our new place!
This is a lovely restaurant and a warm, friendly and chic place.
Best dinner we have had in San Francisco. A true neighborhood gem. And we eat out a lot.
Gem of a neighborhood restaurant with a quiet, calm & comfortable interior and a small back patio (also warm). Brief but creative menu of well-prepared options and some very nice wines. Seared scallops in corn mash was mouth-watering and could have been my full dinner if I had ordered more. The waitstaff is knowledgeable and friendly with prompt service. Well worth venturing a little from the fray for this experience.
Great food, great service, and a helpful attitude relative to wine choices. Will definitely visit again.
Excellent food. Excellent service.
Anazing food great service woukd def go agsin!
Neighborhood gem. Excellent short ribs. Interesting appetizers.
Always innovative and delicious cuisine. The menu always has 10-12 appetizers and 6-8 entrees.
We went to Gardenias for a romantic anniversary dinner. It was a simple, cozy neighborhood gem. The food was delicious -- every salad, soup, entrée, and dessert was tasty, fresh, and well prepared. The service was excellent.
We came here to celebrate my birthday, and the place was recommended by a friend. It had a comfortable local eatery feel. We split the scallops with corn and micro greens appetizer. Our waiter recommended we split instead of each getting an order. He was right, the size was ample, and it was delicious. We both ordered the duck leg with a delicate creamy wine sauce, potatoes and shallots. Unusual and very delicious. For dessert, I had a small raspberry, chocolate mousse with a cookie. Mark selected an citrus cake which he found delicious. The waiter was accommodating for our selection of wines, and brought us several samples. They did not have a Chardonnay available by the glass, so I selected a white vintners blend. Again, they did not have Merlot by the glass, so Mark selected a red blend which he enjoyed.
The place was a bit cold as they left the doors open for ventilation because of COVID restrictions. This may change in the future. We both brought coats and were fine. Note the menus were different from what was on the website.
We both felt this was our best meal in San Francisco. Prices were reasonable. For example, the duck legs were $28. Our wines were $14 each, a bit on the high side.
Excellent meal start to finish! All dishes very inventive with vibrant flavors. Prices very reasonable.
Really enjoyable meal!
First time at gardenias. Very happy with our experience. Will definitely be back.
Appetizers, entries, dessert and service were excellent. Would definitely return soon. Chqrming restaurant.
Small menu of interesting choices, artfully presented, professional service. Would definitely return.
