Solid experience all around. Small, intimate setting with attentive service and menu items that are a little different, yet still grounded in familiarity.
Main dishes a little too salty. Fish dish tasted not fresh. Appetizers were good.
Gardenias met the expectations we were having for this dinner. The starters were good, the entrées were delicious! My wife loved the duck and I enjoyed all the flavours of the Muhroom dish. Gardenias is great for an intimate dinner with excellent food and presentations.
This is an absolute neighborhood gem!
Great time but food was a bit uneven.
Excellent food, excellent service beautiful restaurant, great for any occasion. Will definitely go back again.
I always have a delicious meal and a wonderful dining experience at Gardenia's.
Gardenias is quickly becoming our new favorite place to
Done in the city. For us, it’s just the right size for the two of us or one other couple to join. The service is attentive, professional, and personable. The food is of high quality and the menu changes frequently. We’ve already booked our next reservation for just a couple of weeks from now!
Really enjoyed this neighborhood gem. Excellent date night spot following or before a movie at the Kabuki. The service was exceptional and the food was absolutely delicious. Staff were fun and energetic while the atmosphere was quaint bistro style that offered open arms for the intimate conversation for 2 or the family in for shared meal. We really enjoyed it and look forward to adding this to our list of small neighborhood gems across San Francisco.
This place is a gem. The food is exquisite - the flavors are so well balanced. The ricotta ravioli was the best I've ever eaten. The ricotta was so fresh and light. Beautiful restaurant, brilliant food, terrific service.
I will be back again and again.
A little disappointed in my meal. It was over cooked, not seasoned well and just presented strangely. Kinda felt like I was served a business class equivalence meal.
Do not sit in the front of the house near the door! It’s freezing and the most recent night we were there, every time someone walked in, the door was left ajar. (The door required manual closure every time it was opened.) Management knew it, but somehowit was “our job” (for$70.00/pp) to keep closing it or freeze during the entire dinner! Our two front tables alternated closing the door during all three courses. The waiter David could care less. He brought over a glass of something undrinkable after I mentioned that the least he could do is offer up a dessert. He was completely dismissive of the three women at our table which felt doubly annoying. Neither of our two tables who were on door duty would ever return (we discussed it) even though the duck is wonderful!
Cute and charming restaurant
The food was lovely, and the service was very friendly. The noise was a little loud since we were so close to another table but we enjoyed our meal very much and would recommend Gardenias to our friends.
I love this place. It is so quaint and pretty. The servers are wonderfully friendly and helpful. The food is amazing. The only negative comment I can even make is that their desserts are not my favorite but that just ensures I have room for more main dishes! Definitely get the ravioli.
Was looking for a place near the Fillmore for dinner before a show. We stumbled on this and what a lucky find! Wine list was interesting, socca cake appetizer was outstanding. Entrees were also very delicious and beautifully plated. We finished with a plum tart that was lovely with lightly sweetened whipped cream.
Will definitely go again
Neighborhood spot with great food, we enjoyed the fresh flavors and there was a good option for everyone in our group.
It was perfect for a birthday celebration quiet and cozy, wonderful food excellent service
Everything that our group had was very good.. will return, for sure!
Food was good wine 🍷 great
Service was efficient and helpful
Our first time here and we really loved it!!
Creative menu and attentive service made it a very good evening!
Always a favorite love the seasonal food combinations. Never disappoints since sharing allows us to sample many choices. Try not to miss dinner here when we’re in town
Wonderful restaurant with great service. Small and personable. Dish combinations are unique. Enjoyed our evening at Gardenias.
Amazing appetizers but I’m still not sure about the main dishes! I like this place but neither the duck or the ribs did it to me, just being honest
Wine selection really good , cheese plate excellent, service outstanding ,the girls behind the bar were amazing! I’ll be back for sure
Food was delicious. And unique. Will definitely come back
Great! Get the gnocchi.
Better than ever. Totally enjoyable!!
Great food w nuanced flavors. Welcoming, fun enviro in space with character and no fuss. Warm and professional staff
Great meal at Gardenias and excellent service. We had the short ribs and steelhead which were delicious. And they have nice wines by the glass. I have always found their service to be warm and attentive. Grateful to have it in the neighborhood!
We went to Gardenias before a show at the Fillmore. Beautiful, elegant ambience for a neighborhood restaurant. Enjoyed our wine selections by the glass. The server was very helpful in her explanations. We had the burrata, fig and prosciutto starter, the steelhead entree, the pesto gnocchi, and the short ribs. All were delicious. It's a little on the pricey side, but if you are careful, you can get a nice dinner for 4 at $50 a person.
Very accommodating for my party of 8. Great wine list, and very tasty smaller size entrees.
Really good food, lots of plant based options. Seems to be getting better.
Nice, kinda quirky neighborhood place. Nothing matches—plates, flatware—not that there’s anything wrong with that. Somewhat limited menu. I expected more seasonal choices. What was done was done well. In hindsight, we could have used more guidance on ordering; all the entrees are large and rich enough to share. All in all, the wait staff was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. $5 for 5 slices of bread was absurd, however, and it didn’t taste like it was made in-house. Don’t bother with desserts. We found a great bottle of wine at a decent price; when we tried to order a second, they were out. Lots of hype for this place right now, saw lots of Pac Hgts types. Won’t go back for a while if at all.
Absolutely loved it - my all time favorite restaurant in SF!
Our dining experience was delightful. Every bite was exquisite.
Great restaurant, food very delicious, staff amenable and polite all leaving to a great dining experience. Personally we felt the 21:30 closing was a tad early and we ended up being the last diners in the restaurant ( not down graded the scoring for this). We enjoyed ourselves; it was a warm evening and would have been great to have had a table in the courtyard outside.
We had a delicious and delightful meal. Everything was beautiful and delicious. I think the steelhead was probably one of the best salmon dishes I have ever had! Thank you!
Fantastic dinner! Perfect spot for a date or dinner with friends. Delicious food in a cozy atmosphere :)
The atmosphere is very nice, and the service courteous. I felt the food is not as carefully prepared as it could be. The steak was smothered in cooked veggies and sauce. It was hard to appreciate the beef itself, and I would have liked the choice of how much sausce to apply.
