Took my reservation for dinner at 3pm after my 5 family members traveled into NY for my birthday, but when we arrived, we found out they didn't serve food after 3pm. The girls at the desk had no idea we even made a reservation, so clearly don't check Open Table, and said "maybe there'll be a snack menu coming out later." I asked what the dinner menu on the website was for, they seemed to not even know they had a website. DO NOT GO HERE.
Fun, comfortable place for friends to lunch and play the horses, with superb view of track's finish line. A $3.50 seating charge reserves the use of the table for the whole afternoon, so guests can leave the table, to explore the park or Clubhouse or to view the horses up close before each race. Food ordered from short menu was only passable considering its price on a weekday afternoon in September. Wait service was great. Food at Saturday buffet is much better and draws a larger crowd. With greater variety, it's a better deal than on weekdays. All things considered, it's a very entertaining way to spend a day in early or late summer, rain or shine, when the track is in use.
My out go to watch the races with a group but the Buffett is pretty bad
Will skip it next time we go to the track
THe food is gross. It is a over priced buffet. It cost $5 for each person to get in to the park, $3.50 per person as a sitting fee and than $35 for brunch. I had a $10 drink that was watered down. We had a fun day seeing the horses and it was great memories but I will never eat at that place again. Big waste of money
Truth is, it is about the racetrack. The buffet brunch is not a good value for the money $35pp. Yes, you can eat all you want, but you won't want to eat much. The food is at best uninspired - packaged pastries etc - to awful. I don't know how a freshly made omelet is awful. but there you have it. The coconut cake tasted like suntan lotion. Where they could have redeemed themselves at dessert, it was more prepackaged, sub-par, limited offerings On a positive note, you can sit there all day and wander down to the track from time to time.
We are at Belmont!!! That is a great start. Everyone is friendly. The atmosphere is fun.
The Sunday brunch was not at all worth 35.00. There is very little selection just an omelette station w bacon, sausage, home fries, no toast or breads or any other breakfast food. Then there were 5 lunch items, a small salad table, and a dessert table with a few items. It would not have been that bad if the food itself tasted good. It was horrible quality of food. The only plus is the view of the racetrack. Don't waste your money here
They used to serve lunch with an ala cart menu - now it is buffet. I know people love, more, more more...but not me. I was a little disappointed. However, if you love buffets, there is a good selection of food.
It's a fun place to eat when you're spending an afternoon at the track.
Beautiful atmosphere, great view of the racetrack and the food was good. The waitress were very friendly and attentive. The only thing I would not recommend are the Mojitos, they were really bad.
This was absolutely the worst buffet I ever had. The food was fair, at best. More importantly, the selection of items was miniscule. It was like a five item menu where you had to go up to get your own food.
Excellent way to spend a day at the races. The server was very attentive and the view of the track was great. The buffet and bar menue food were very good.
The quality of the food was not as good as it has been in the past
Great quality buffet for the price. Great way to watch the races with the comfort of a table.
Not worth the price. Especially the "seating charge Very limited selection
Buffet was solid and service was attentive. But the trackside view can't be beat! Would recommend as a good spot to watch the races while eating at your own pace.
Do not go here for the food or service. Go here to watch horse racing. Great view of the entire track. Short betting lines. Comfortable seating. Food is adequate. Service is terrible. It is what it is, a great place to watch racing but don't expect 5 star food and servic. With that said, I will be back knowing what to expect.
The best way to see the races, like a private club within the Belmont Clubhouse. Food is old school, think country club brunch served via a buffet. This visit: roast beef, chicken, seafood, and typical brunch fare. Quite a bargain, $20/$30 (depending on the day, kids half price), and the top notch sports action is free! Tables are tiered and all offer a commanding view of the track via a huge wall of windows, most have video monitors to watch close-ups of the action and even wager right from your table. There are also betting windows with helpful tellers that are reserved just for garden terrace patrons. If you have never been to the races it is a great intro to sport and a nice, safe environment if you wnat to bring the kids.
This is a restaurant at a race track (Belmont). The food is served buffet style, with carving stations and omelette stations. The service at the stations was fine, although the bread cold be improved. The only problem was with the drinks -- you had to get them from a waiters, and they didn't seem to have enough waiters. Service was initially really slow nad I was given the wrong drink twice, but after we complained things improved. We had a hreat table overlooking the finish line adn enjoyed the experiance. I was glad to see they had a bigger crowd than last year.
Outstanding view of the track. Great place to relax and watch and wager.
We had a ball. Great Bloody Mary's. The food was fair, but we didn't go there for that reason. We went to see the horse races. Service was fine, not outstanding but good enough. Great place for a group of friends to gather for an outing.
The atmosphere is pleasant, and the food is decent. We enjoyed what we ate, and had wonderful seats to watch the races. The view is never blocked by other people at tables in front of you because the levels are tiered. The pricing is reasonable for a full lunch buffet...but not always easy to find a waiter for a drink.
THE SERVICE WAS NON EXISTANT. HAVING A MANDITORY BUY IN TO A BUFFET IS NOT A WAY TO KEEP CLIENTS ESPECIALLY WHEN THE BUFFET WAS MINIMALIST THE FOOD WAS BORING
Great place to watch the races, have some food and enjoy the track when the weather is not so good,
The food is acceptable, you can eat all afternoon if you like. Enjoyable way to spend a day!
You're at historic Belmont Race Track. It's a throwback to the 70's. Great spot to watch the races they keep it spotlessly clean.
Great for a day out with friends or a group
Good value for money $30 buffet 1200- 1600 not a great deal of choice but enough to keep you going back to try a bit of everything.Service not great at first because we were isolated at the front but the table location was great for us right on the finish line.A waiter was soon found and was then very attentive. Fantastic location for a lunch or birthday you can gamble on the Horses from your table on the screen very High tech.It made our visit from England just that bit more memorable and was a different experience to the normal tourist spots of New York.
I've been going here many years. Service has always been lacksidasycle, but you really only go here for the ambiance and the spirit of gambling on horses. Good place to go for families but no they only serve brunch so its more expensive. They used to let you order off a menu. A carafe of coke is $9.75 so becareful of prices if you go.
The quality of food was disappointing and there was not enough food available for an overpriced buffet. Selection of cakes was limited and mostly unsatisfying. The carving station was inadequate and no omelet option was offered. There were over 200 patrons dining on Monday.
