The Garden Court Ratings and Reviews
Comfortable ambience and the staff were all really nice. The sandwiches and desserts were so fine and delicate—very enjoyable and definitely visually appetizing. Only complaint was towards our waitress that kept forgetting about us and rushing off to help other guests. Luckily other staff were attentive and served us on multiple occasions, from the initial servings of tea & sandwiches, to refills and packing up. I have more complaints about her, but everything/everyone else made up for her. A must visit and experience!!
The lady placed my spoon very rudely on the table, and ran away when I needed it for my coffee, kinda like I don't want to even serve you. Also when she brought food to the table she just said watch out and placed the food in front of me without Informing me in a polite way. She seem like she was forced to work there vs being excited to work at a beauty hotel. The food was cold. It's not a place to eat at, just maybe for pictures and having a cup of coffee.
No longer Sunday buffet: now a la carte menu items only.
Service terrible, slow: waiter unpleasant, unfriendly despite wearing a “proud to be union” button
Saltiest omelette I’ve ever had. Cannot believe you can NOT substitute hash browns for breakfast potatoes: have to order/pay for a separate item.
$90 for 2 omelettes??? Worst ripoff in SF awarded
The Garden Court is one of the most stunning locations I've ever seen. Brightly lit, lots of open space, and decor that screams luxury and elegance. That being said, the food was rather heavy and greasy. I was expecting more delicate dishes. I came for the setting however, and it definitely did not disappoint. I was blown away.
Massive disappointment. My family has often stayed at the Sheraton Palace during the Christmas season, and dined at the GC. They have renovated the hotel, removing the classic features and making it into just another "modern" without charm facility. We chose to stay at the Hyatt instead, but still dine at the GC. Imagine our amazement when we arrived to find that the Christmas tree had already been taken down, which of course greatly diminished the ambiance. However, they had no problem still pricing the menu at the "holiday menu" fixed price of $69 per person. Waiter was extremely helpful in trying to find cheaper alternatives for the children, but the total tab still was nearly $400. Also, trying to make the reservations through OT. kept getting "no tables available within 2 hours" notification, but the massive GC was almost empty when we arrived. Waiter said that many people, when they saw the fixed price $69, they just got up and left.
The food was just adequate but very expensive.
The waiter, although cordial, did not bring the bottle of wine we ordered to the table but arrived with already poured glasses. When we brought it to his attention, he said he had "already thrown away the bottle."
The main attraction here is the room itself but I would not repeat the experience. Even the room is not as attractive as it was pre-remodel.
The setting is remarkable, creating a wonderful ambiance. The tables are set far enough apart that the noise level was low (it is a large high ceiling room). Unfortunately, the hostess did not know whether there was a coat check available (a 4 star hotel) and referred us to the server. He was excellent and told us that no coat check was available but arranged to bring a nearby chair upon which to place our coats!
Garden Court Cafe is a beautiful spot. I owed a friend a nice lunch and knew she could never afford this place on her own. And I certainly can't afford to do it more than once a year. But I wanted her to feel special, and she did. She was overwhelmed by the room and the food.
Maybe you should try some menu options that are not so expensive. It probably didn't help that I lost my reading glasses and misread the price. I think I ended up paying much more than I should have. I couldn't exactly ask my friend to read it for me, because I was treating her. And I'm sure she would have fainted when she saw how much I paid.
The restaurant was not busy yet it took nearly 30 min for our waiter to bring us a menu. We had to ask at least 4x for bread. It arrived cold. We ordered the wine pairing and were nearly thru w our main course and the wine hadn't arrived. We got up and went to the bar to request it and they refused us. Finally the waiter brought it. The food was good but very overpriced esp in light of the very poor service. Our waiter must have noticed our dissatisfaction and brought us a "free" glass of champagne at the end of our meal. Too late to save a disappointing experience.
The room is amazing, and the food is fine. The main issue was that they don't really keep this place clean as you would expect. The leather chairs were very worn and looked like they hadn't been cleaned in ages. Foods very expensive, but it's not much better than what I could make in my own kitchen. A good experience to do once, but I don't think I'd go back.
I started off my birthday by having breakfast here at the Garden Court! And boy, I sure am happy I started my day here. It totally set the tone for a beautiful day. The staff was amazing, the ambiance couldn't be better and the food was delicious. It's difficult to find nice breakfast buffets offered during the week but the Garden Court offers a nice variety on any given day. It's beautifully set up. And their steel oats are the best in town! Oh, and should I mention, they have a nice cheese place selection as well! A major plus for that!
Once again, Sheraton Palace presented an outstanding choice of marvelous items to fall in love with. The Mushroom Bisque was outstanding. Try it, Comforting and aa real pleasure to start the meal off with. The Braised Short Ribs melted in my mouth. the flavours were hearty. The Bouche de Noel will never be forgotten.
what was NOT wonderful is planning on an Afternoon Tea and instead presented with a three course lunch. Someone messed up big time in reservations. This was disturbing and really quite unacceptable. This should NEVER happen to a guest, NEVER!!!!
Great buffet selection. Everything was very yummy. The wait staff could be more attentive, as we had to signal for service several times before anyone responded. Also, four of the six place settings at our table were incomplete and two of us were sitting on a very low sofa.
Signature Christmas Tea at The Garden Court is beautiful and delicious. As our family tradition each year, it does not disappoint. Service is fantastic. Food is beautiful and delicious. Ambiance is elegant and festive. Princess crowns for any little princess you have dining with you. Fantastic experience!
