The name GAONNURI represents our placement in what we believe is the center of the world, both physically and figuratively. Located in the heart of New York City,
a city that represents the intersection of the finest cuisines and eclectic cultures, GAONNURI seeks to gather people of all backgrounds to share
in a traditional Korean dining experience. We hope that the authenticity of the food
and the enjoyment of the dining experience will invite patrons for generations to come.
Thank you for allowing us to invite and serve you in our own culinary center.
It was so good
We went there for dinner and had a later reservation. The service was mediocre, it seemed that the staff was annoyed.
The BBQ tables in corners and by windows where the views are good are worth requesting.
We would go again.
Everything good but meat quality not so sure. We ordered barbecue for 2 and I found the meat very fatty.
75%for of your bill is a view
Food is regular, we had better in small places around (Mokbar in Chelsea ) . View is spectacular, it would be even more enjoyable if windows were clean. It's a fancy place to mention on Social media, and no more than that
This place always remains one of my favorite midtown restaurants...consistently good in all categories
The food was great as usual and we got a great seat next to the window and it was a great view.
Fantastic food and views! Loved the bbq - was delicious. Service was a bit off/felt a little bit rushed. Overall a good dinner and evening!
The atmosphere and view is outstanding. The barbecue a happening, Cocktails very tasty.
Food was good and atmosphere was decent. However service needs some polishing because I never received extra side dishes after multiple requests.
Service was courteous, but slow. One of our dishes was forgotten and delivered after the rest of the meal was complete. Our waiter spoiled the surprise of the birthday cupcakes for my Dad by coming to the table tell me the candles I brought were not usable because he had never seen candles like them before and they could be a fire hazard (they were regular candles with a gold color.) As for the fire hazard, this is a Korean Barbeque restaurant where the food was cooked at our table, making the concern over a birthday candle seem a bit silly.
Rude staff, disorganized, slow service.
My husband and I went there for our anniversary and had one of the best meals of our lives. The even surprised us with dessert wishing us a happy anniversary. Bonus, we had a celebrity sighting.
Even though we didn't get a window-side table, we had fantastic time seated in the sofa areas. You still get nice view. Food was excellent and so was the service. Fantastic wine list. Will definitely come back
Birthday treAt. Location was excellent. BBQ was fun. Loved the pickled radish
Staff is very helpful and accomodating with all requests.
A good place to enjoy city view.
Food amazing! Espectacular view!!!!
Excellent! Food, the wiew, service, everything was great!
I can't say a single thing wasn't perfect. They even put happy anniversary on our dessert dish
This is at the edge of Korea town in Midtown NYC. It is an upscale experience, unlike most of the tavern like restaurants in Korea Town. The views are spectacular throughout the restaurant. One guest is Gluten Free, and the staff was very helpful with the menu. The wait staff was very attentive, without being intrusive. We did not feel rushed, and had almost a 2 hour dinner. The noise level was low to moderate. We both had the Prix Fix meal, and felt that the portions were more than adequate. As it was a special occasion, they brought out dessert with a candle! It is great for a romantic dinner, or family outing.
Although a bit pricey, it was well worth it for the view and quality of the food. We will definitely go back, and I highly recommend it!
Wonderful experience whether your a NY native or not. But a great way to show of netw York . Great food good honest food knowledge.... definitely a have the eggplant/aubergine start ,bimbimbap hot stone bowl BBQ and cod...all fantastic.
Not my first time to this restaurant as it was---until tonight---my favorite Korean restaurant in NYC. As a local, there are many options. Gaonnuri sits atop a tall building with a clean and quiet appeal and outstanding views of the city.
The prices are high, but you expect to pay for premium service and atmosphere.
The trouble started from the moment we started ordering. The waiter copped an attitude at our party of 5 ordering just three table-top barbeque entrees--erroneously guessing that we were not going to order any other entrees. He appeared 'disgusted.' After my wife and I finished our order, the others at the table ordered individual entrees. You would think that this would have changed his demeanor; however it did not.
Throughout the meal, every request we made to him seemed to be an inconvenience. The final straw happened as we waited for quite a while to have our dirty dishes cleared so when he returned, I asked to see a dessert menu so I could speed the evening along...to which he quipped, "I'll bring that once I've cleared off all the dished." He then took his sweet time doing that. It took some time to flag someone down to get our check at the end and the restaurant was not even busy. Where is "Bar Rescue" when you need them?
Upon leaving we mentioned the incident to the manager...who could not have cared a bit. We were not expecting anything compensation--we'd already paid our $300 tab---just a caring person who could train or coach the waiter so they could correct the behavior for future guests. Nothing. He just stood there and ultimately let us walk out without communicating anything or even acting concerned. Apparently the fish stinks from the head as they say.
Simply amazing for my anniversary they really took care of us
this restaurant is better and better every day.
I am a regular customer for 4 years
Great food and Excellent service.
Always my favorite place to eat in entire NYC. Food is superb! Service is usually pristine, sometimes when too busy I’d give it an 8.5, but other times definitely 10.
I think most people go for the view, which is quite nice. Food is definitely priced much higher than comparable Korean restaurants. Food/service are above average, but again quite pricey.
Great views, excellent food, good service and beautiful ambiance
Almost everything was great, it’s just because that there was a construction going on over at the lobby that made it a bit so so
Gaonnuri is a hipsters restaurant whose ambience is not welcome to older persons. The view is amazing, the food is quite good, but in no way outstanding. The service is attentive but not personal. The cocktails are astronomically expensive.
The throbbing “music” is so loud and relentless that dinner becomes an unpleasant experience.
We, a party of three, could not wait to leave.
Great experience overall. Visiting from out of town/Boston with my niece visiting colleges. A special treat for her as she has been wanting to go to a restaurant at the top of a building for the last year. Food was delicious. View from 39th floor amazing. Service was great. Highly recommend. Made a teenager's dream come true!
Nice interior, fantastic view. Good atmosphere, tasty food. The cheapest wine is not good.
Absolutely wonderful experience. The views were amazing, the food was incredible, the waitstaff was very attentive, and the experience was very authentic to a real Korean BBQ restaurant. We will be back as soon as possible!
As far as food it’s definitely overrated and also overpriced.
Just can’t give more than 2 stars , employees don’t seem enjoy working there .
Great view and food!
Window side table offered great city view as a backdrop to the very contemporary decor and table settings. Staff was very accommodating and helpful in walking us through all the choices and options on the menu as well as making recommendations. The pace of service was easy which is what we appreciated as this was one of those extremely rare times we would be in NYC and we wanted to relax and enjoy everything even though the city seemed to run at a very fast pace. the food was fresh tasting, varied and portions were just right, not too small or overwhelming large. Again much appreciated. Price was high if you just considered the food but for the overall experience it was well worth it.
It was a delight! Fresh and good food. I was able to hear my table late which is so rare in the city
Good for special occasions. Pricey. Excellent service. Delicious food, allergy awareness appreciated.
Goannuri is a bit of a hidden gem, tucked away on the 39th floor of hotel. I would never have known it was there if it weren't for my friend showing it to me. If you're looking for some excellent (if slightly pricey) Korean barbeque with an incredible view of NYC, this is the place to be. This was my second time at Gaonnuri my group tried the combo for 3 people which includes prime ribeye, galbi beef, marinated galbi beef, and bulgogi. We also tried the soju flight and all of it was excellent.
