The name GAONNURI represents our placement in what we believe is the center of the world, both physically and figuratively. Located in the heart of New York City, a city that represents the intersection of the finest cuisines and eclectic cultures, GAONNURI seeks to gather people of all backgrounds to share in a traditional Korean dining experience. We hope that the authenticity of the food and the enjoyment of the dining experience will invite patrons for generations to come. Booked this well in advance. Spoke to multiple folks, when booking, confirming, re-confirming. I am a vegetarian but my boyfriend loves BBQ and for his birthday he wanted this. Mind you we visited from out of town and could have ate anywhere. We showed up the greeter very nice and kind. Upon being seated it just went down hill. I was served a paper tasting menu with all fish. When I confirmed with the server I had a vegetarian menu she looked at me like I was crazy and legit said. We don’t do that. Just terrible. I told her we called it’s been arranged she continued to go back and fourth we me at the table, no we can do some substitutions but we can’t do a vegetarian menu. Giving it 1 star for hospitality, at $400 for a dinner you would think reservation notes would be shared to the server and there would be enough class to walk away and confirm with a manager then go back and fourth with a guest. The server left for 15 minutes (no drinks nothing) finally came back to confirm she “talked with the kitchen” and they will honor our request. We walked right out. Ambiance was terrible. Low jazz music, mostly empty at 9pm on Friday. Views are beautiful though.

Our party of two ordered off the a la carte menu. We shared an order of the squash blossom - delicious! Diner 1 ordered the black cod jorim and thoroughly enjoyed it. Diner 2 ordered the salmon gui - very tasty dish. The views in this restaurant are breathtaking. Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience.

The food, staff and ambience was amazing! We came for our 42nd anniversary and we were very impressed. Can’t stress enough how good the food was and the staff impeccable; very attentive without being intrusive and friendly.

We had a wonderful time at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the service was outstanding. A special thank you to Tenzen, who made our experience extra special with such warm and attentive service. Highly recommended!

Excellent service, we always love the atmosphere. We were given a very thoughtful sorbet desert for Father’s Day that was vegan so we could all share (I’m vegan, our daughter has a milk allergy). So kind! I will say, our only 2 complaints were that the bathrooms could use some attention and there should be more vegan options on the menu. Would have loved to see some kind of tofu dish (not deep fried) such as soon tofu, or a Korean bbq tofu with veggies. Overall, we had a very good experience.

The staff was exceptional; attentive, kind, and genuinely friendly. The view of the city was beautiful both day and night, but the interior felt underwhelming. We probably would have had a better experience ordering à la carte and enjoying the same view without needing to sit near the window.

Went with my kids for the omakase. Absolutely fantastic and they made me write a review! Great service, the omakase was awesome to try so many meats….. highly recommended!!
