Had a wonderful dinner accompanied by a spectacular view of sunset and the twinkling lights of midtown Manhattan. This was our first experience with Korean food and the servers did a great job helping us order, explaining the process and food etc. We enjoyed a shared tasting menu cooked on the tabletop grill which was both fun and delicious. The service was professional and attentive and the ambiance was perfect for a special occasion.
Food was very poor. And flavorless. Very unfortunate experience.
Service and food were both wonderful and the view was spectacular!
don’t need to do any reservation or special request because they do what they want.
Service very absent and anonymous.
The food is not described and when you ask for more information to the waiters gives wrong indications.
The only good thing is the view...no more
Been to Gaonnuri many times & have never had a bad meal. Service is usually top-notch, but sometimes is a bit less so. Highly recommended overall for any special occasion! Good for vegetarians & non-vegetarians.
Excellent dinner. Beautiful and reasonably quiet atmosphere. We ordered the duck and the prime rib eye bbq, expertly cooked at our table.
Scallop and shrimp scallion pancakes and the stuffed artichoke for starters, both highly recommended.
By the way, the duck bbq, which I don’t usually order, was exceptional. From now on I will order it every time.
We also had the cod, and the seafood bimbapbon, or whatever that is called. It was also exceptional.
For dessert we had the deconstructed candy bar (I forget which one), which was very nice but get something besides the trio of ice creams along with it because it already has two scoops of ice cream.
Even with each of us getting a cocktail the check added up to only about $70 plus tip.
That’s not bad! Especially for such a special dinner as this. This place is A MUST!!!
Très beau restaurant au 39ème étage avec vue sur times square et empire ! Nourriture et service correct ! A faire sans hésiter si budget le permet car un peu cher mais la vue le vaut bien !
Food was great although a bit price. Great views!
The views are great of NYC. The food was really special. Interesting dishes.. Fun to cook the shrimp in front on me.
I came here with my boyfriend for our anniversary. The environment was nice and the table BBQ combo 1 was delicious.
Food was great - wish they served more of the usual Korean sides that normally with dinner but otherwise the food was delicious and the wait staff was very attentive. The view was also spectacular.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday there and it was a wonderful experience. The look, the feel if the restaurant was everything you hope for in NYC with a fantastic view. We had combo 1/bbq and each bite was more fantastic then the next. We look forward to a future visit.
We went here for a birthday dinner. The food is good and the views fantastic. A lot of space between the tables. The reason the noise level was high is because there was something wrong with the fire alarm system in the building when we went there, which was annoying. The service was good and professional but not overly friendly.
Not my first time at Gaonnuri. The food has always been great. We were a group of 5 celebrating the 60th birthday of my mother in law, my boyfriend and me were the only ones familiar with the place and with korean cuisine, the service this time was lacking, the waiters were not very friendly, I have no problem with serious people but they seemed to be a bit annoyed and with no patience. Food was great as always (seafood pancakes, steak tartare, pork belly and Galbi bbq) and I appreciate the fact that they took my request in consideration and accommodated our party of 5 in a table with very nice view.
Un locale al 39esimo piano dove poter cenare con un panorama mozzafiato. Suggerisco di prenotare e chiedere il tavolo vicino ai finestroni. Ottimo il cibo, momto cordiale il personale. Da provare almeno una volta
This restaurant had a really nice view. It was a quiet atmosphere and would be great for special occasions. It is a little pricey, but still good food and great service.
Waiter was extremely rude. He did not give us the time of day. When we were ordering he seemed as if he wanted us to hurry up rather than take our time. He did not give any recommendations when we needed help with the menu. Overall, he did not make our experience as nice as we hoped.
Wonderful first time experience for authentic Korean BBQ!
The food was fabulous! Grilled right at our table; sauces were superb; veggies were crisp and well seasoned. Both the grilled duck and the beef were melt-in-your mouth tender. BUT. . .the view from the floor to ceiling windows overlooking Manhattan made the experience extra special.
Anniversary celebration. Excellent Combo #1 for 2. Excellent quality of meats. Excellent service and excellent view of Empire State building. Beautiful restaurant. One of the best chocolate soufflé.
Amazing food and exceptional customer service! It was the second time I visit and it keeps getting better!
beautiful view and very good food for special occasions; expensive.
Service was horrible today. Has been my 5th time at Gaonnuri. As in the past I took some people with me who I wanted to show this great restaurant. Experience this time was very embarrassing. Service (Guy with black hair) was rude, meat was cooked like they were in an rush and slammed on the table without any explanation as to what it was (they used to do that so nice). I was shocked today at how little effort they put into everything. Even waited 45 minutes for the table despite having a reservation. No excuse but just bad service was what we got for that. There are so many nice restaurants in NY. After having been so disappointed this time I will not go there again with visiting friends. I might check it out in a few weeks again to see if anything has changed. As of today, I can only recommend not going there.
Tries too hard without doing what it takes to be worth its price. Best place in KoreaTown if money is no issue. Unimpressive when compared to venues of the same price.
Not a good experience.
Food was not good and waitress refused to ask move the seat even restaurant was empty
Too expensive for the quality
Delighted to have a window table open up (ask for one if you can; the views are lovely), so things started on a great note. Attentive service across the board, and helpful recommendations from the menu.
With that said, the food was sort of “blah.”
Definitely a fun date spot, and perhaps our choices left something to be desired...
Great views! Good food!
Very tasty food. We tried the Korean BBQ and was great. Nice service and helpful explaining the dishes in the menu. Moreover, the views from the restaurant are amazing.
I went there for my Bday. I have to say the entire experience was great. Great food great drinks and great people in the staff.
Fantastic food, amazing view, great ambiance
Korean food for white people. Pancakes were 4 small bites. Really disappointing dining experience. If you have non-Korean friends who wants a lite version of Korean food, this is the place.
Great dinner and view! We had an awesome time and the bbq was the so cool
Wonderful food, service and gorgeous view of the city!
The food was delicious I have to say. But was not too happy about the service.
Made a reservation for our anniversary almost two weeks ago, and wanted to have table BBQ which was the reason why we went for, but was told there was no table for BBQ ready at the moment. We were given option of wait until table is ready or seat at the “Non- BBQ “ table, and have the kitchen cook meat. Since we had another arrangement afterwards, we didn’t wait for the table. However, during the time we were there, there were at least three empty tables for BBQ. We did ask if we can switch the seats so can order the meat to cook at the table in our like, but the answer was No, which was a little disappointing.
Other than that, the food was good.
The view from the window seats were beautiful! The wait staff were friendly and attentive. But the food is not authentic by Korean standards. Portions are small also, so this is not a place to go to get full. The drinks are great, though. I would go back for the bar area next time.
Fabulous. The food and view are both amazing. I always love dining there and great place to bring out of town guests
Great views on top of Korea town but food was very oily and bland and did not taste fresh. Not a good value for money
The food was great and the view of the high rise was outstanding. My girlfriend and I were looking for a nice place to eat at with a nice view in NYC. This place wasn't too bad for the price of the food and view. However, still a bit pricey, but you are getting what you pay for. We came at night and we took a lot of beautiful pictures of the lit up city. Definitely, would come again.
Would be great if they asked about allergies/limitations, as some of our party couldn't enjoy some of the food
Love everything about this place !
