Gannon's Ratings and Reviews
We arrived at 6:25 for our 6:30 reservation. Evidentially, they had given our table away or they had a rush of folks off the golf course when it started to rain a little and seated them. Either way, they had no table to honor our reservation. Then, my husband saw a table set for 2 and asked about it. While the hostess was pleasant, I was told it was not for us. About 45 minutes later, we were seated at that table. We asked for bread while waiting for our food, and was told “right away.” It never arrived. The only thing that saved the evening was the food, which was excellent. We both had the seared ahi and loved it. Based on the quality of the food, we will give them another try.
Decor and view were great, service was outstanding. Onto food...
Appetizers were great, would recommend the Ginger Shoyu Clams (delicious) and Kalua Pig Spring Rolls (delicious) again.
Unfortunately, both entrees were disappointing. Lacquered Pork Chop (just pineapple sweetness, bland pork flavor), and Lemongrass chicken (dry to the point of inedible) were a big miss. I can honestly say this was the worst chicken dish I've ever had. There was no moisture and it was like biting into stringy sand.
We went for restaurant week, a little early to take advantage of the happy hour. Bar scene was fine, limited drink choices for happy hour though. The crab dip was good, but the rest of the food was blah - or overspiced. Simply didn't have the feel of gourmet- or at least chef-led as it portends. Won't be back, won't recommend- with all the choices in Maui, you can do better. Sad to lose a night of so few on Maui.
Everything was great. The only issue I️ have with the night was not being seated outside in the best location. When you inquire, all outdoor seating is 1st come, 1st serve. When you get there you realize there are other factors in play. Residents of Hawaii, Club members and booking direct with restaurant will get you better seating. Booking through Open Table has proven to get us less than the best tables during Wailea restaurant week.
Went to Gannon's for Wailea Restaurant Week, with a prix fixe menu. The food and service were superb. Dined on the lanai overlooking the golf course and the ocean, just beautiful. The only quibble was that the mango creme brulee, while tasty, was runny and not like a custard. They brought us another dessert without hesitation.
My uncle and I enjoyed the menu for Restaurant Week Wailea and were very impressed with the food, portions and excellent and attentive service. Great value. Unfortunately, the photo of the Mango Creme Brulee was not able to be shown but that was especially delicious. My uncle has lived in Kihei many years and now finds it necessary to use a walker. He appreciated the easy access to the outdoor dining area using the ramps and the friendliness of the staff. We've added Gannon's to our list of special place restaurants. Thank you for a great evening!!!
My wife & I stumbled across this restaurant while in Wailea. We heard that Mama’s & MonkeyPod were the must visit restaurants on the island. Add this place to the list!!! The views are absolutely breath taking! The food & the atmosphere were exceptional. I highly recommend the rack of lamb. Overall, the quality of this place is top notch!! We were blown away by the quality of food, service, & atmosphere of this place!!!
While there was a Vegetarian option on the menu, it had no flavor or imagination. Shame on the chef! Some grilled eggplant, onion and bell pepper with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar over the top is a huge disappointment for a Vegetarian entree. I encourage the Chef to continue her education with some Vegetarian cooking classes. The service from Ashley and the scenic view was the highlight of the evening.
We had a great dining experience!!! We just love the passion fruit iced tea here. When we asked if we could get take out cups. Our Waitress said that she wasn't sure she could do that. We were disappointed and as we were getting ready to leave, she surprised us with two to-go cups full of freshly brewed tea!!! She told us she just brewed us a new batch!!! It was very sweet and greatly appreciated. We will be back our next time to Maui!!!
We always stop at Gannon's when in Maui. It is a great spot to see an awesome sunset. The food quality is always good!!! This trip didn't disappoint with the view. The food was good. Our Server was very nice but was handling 8 tables at the same time. It took 25 minutes to receive our check. We also needed refills on water and tea. We actually never received a refill on our $5.00/ glass passion fruit iced tea. I hope things improve on our next trip. Maybe another Server called off and they were short on staff!!!
Unfortunate experience of the server not entering our order, and then not following through correctly, and ultimately having the manager come over, apologize, and making our meals complimentary. Disappointing experience, especially given the wonderful experiences over the years at the parent restaurant, Hailiimaile General Store.
Been before... and it has been great. A little disappointed this time. A wedding reception set right below the dining area on a Friday night is probably not a good idea... or at a minimum let the guests know they won't be able to carry on a conversation over the constant screaming, DJ with a microphone and generally libations celebrating. (Nothing against a boisterous wedding celebration - just incompatible with evening dining)... sort of ruined it.
Also, the desert menu needs some work... nothing real jumps out at ya.
Very warm and welcoming greeting by hostess and manager. Chris our waiter was terrific. My husband had the shortribs and I had the Miso glazed Opah. Food was so delicious. We have made a reservation for Christmas dinner for our family of 6. Thanks for a great evening!
