Gannon's Ratings and Reviews
Both my wife and I have fish meals,
Different fish selections and both were under cooked.
Forbidden rice was so under cooked it felt like eating tiny rocks! We left very unsaturated and went to a place called the Monkeypod, better quality of food and drink. Don’t waste the money.
We enjoyed a Valentine's Day dinner at Gannon's. Our server was wonderful -- attentive but not overbearing. The food was fabulous. I had the cypress salad and mushroom risotto and my husband had the raw raw and salmon. My only disappointment is that Gannon's no longer has their fantastic chocolate bread pudding.
Absolutely fabulous, we go there every year. We made reservations for 5:30 and got a front row table on the veranda. I had the oysters on the half shell....outstanding. We each had the cashew crusted Hamachi which was delicious. Trevor, our waiter was fantastic. To top it off, we had a perfect sunset. It was a $million dinner. Bev Gannon even came around to ensure everything was fine. Great restaurant, great food, and excellent service.
We have been to Gannon’s many times over the years and generally have had good meals and drinks. This time I was more than a little disappointed. Bev’s crab dip was as delicious as ever and the oysters were nice. However I had the cashew encrusted catch of the day and it wasn’t good. The piece of fish had parts that were tough and stringy: not edible. A restaurant of this caliber should have better quality control. One bad experience doesn’t mean I won’t be back, but I hope this was a one off.
The food was excellent and the view was spectacular. The server, however, was super inflexible and stiff. We made a reservation at 5 pm, intending to enjoy happy hour. When we informed our server, he told us that the tables for happy hour were 10 feet away from us and that none were available. For such a high quality establishment, I would of thought that servers would be trained to bend over backwards for the customer. Give us the damn happy hour menu and don't sweat the small stuff. Be in it for the customer. The food was really awesome, but I would be reluctant to return because of the service :(
Gannon’s is everything the reviews stated. Arrived at 6:00 with a reservation and was seated near the railing with the best sunset views. Timothy our server was excellent and allowed ample time for pre-dinner drinks and conversation. All 4 of our entrees were excellent. Our only mistake was that the deserts should have been shared. Someone had to finish them. It was me. 😁
With one of the most spectacular views in south Maui, we often make it a point to dine at Gannon's, especially when the whales are cavorting offshore. The fresh fish offerings also make it worth a visit. We enjoyed the cashew encrusted mahi and the special off-menu opakapaka. Do not miss the caprese salad, perfect size to share. Delicious! Service was spot on. We will be back.
Service took more time than necessary to get started. it took too much time to get bottles of still and sparkling water and larger wine glasses. it also took too much time to get our first courses a salad and scallops with rice noodles. The food quality was very good-scallops, ribs , short ribs and salads, old Gannons and Joes standards.
