We were looking forward to dinner at Gannon's and it was to be our last night on Maui. We had never been there before but based on our lunches and dinners at the Hali'imaile General Store, our expectations were that Gannon's would be up there with other high-end restaurants. Sadly to say we (4 of us) were all disappointed. Why?
The facility - seems to be a bit tired and in need of freshening up and maintenance. A cabinet door falling off on the way to the bathroom, a rain gutter falling off, at night - no lighting of the golf course, so it is a black abyss. Too bad the floodlight below us wasn't on and since the golf course has no landscape lighting, no view or perspective of the beautiful golf course at night. Our table was not one of the other wood tables (we sat outside) but made of a white composite granite top. The frame was the issue, so it tended to wiggle (not teeter but twist back and forth) when my wife was cutting her wedge salad. Luckily no one had a steak.
The service - our waiter was not attentive or he wasn't paying attention and the length of time for dinner was excessive, several times we were wondering where he was. It was noticeable but probably he was about 5 to 10 minutes (several times) beyond when he should have stopped by throughout our time.
The food - for the most part, it was good but it seemed like it sat too long someplace. While it wasn't cold, it was barely warm. One entree was a spicy salad with shrimp, that also had a slice of bread, but was burned (should have been lightly toasted?) and too hard to eat. Another entree was a wedge salad with what I believe was a roasted tomato but my wife wasn't sure, but my guess was it either was an old tomato or not freshly prepared.
For the price, it should have been much better.
Advice to Gannon's - add some outside lighting & perform building maintenance, get rid of the white tables, watch your waiters or send to The General Store for training and the chef should pay more attention.

Service was UN-attentive. Lost the waiter for way too long at times when we needed things and that disrupted our meal. Food was pretty good, but far from great. (Dessert was great!)

Loved the violin music. We enjoyed the songs he played and it wasn’t too loud that you couldn’t carry on a conversation. The food had a nice presentation and was delicious. We will be back again.

Had the seafood paia special. It was dry and lacked sauce. I love paia, but this wasn't that good. My wife's dinner was OK, but her toast was burned black on one side. Waitress was seemingly indifferent. Great view. Great setting.
The Cashew Crusted Mahi Mahi and the Wagyu Short Ribs we’re both excellent! This was our first visit and we enjoyed the meal and watching the sunset.

The restaurant was very nice for lunch. It, for us, was basically country club or golf course atmosphere, but the food was a bit above. Overall, we thought the food was just ok, except the Reuben was surprisingly good, even with no sauerkraut. The yolks on the eggs benedict were overdone and the way burger a bit mushy. Sure was a nice view, however. We think Bev Gannon's other restaurant is much better, food wise.

Went for wine and appies in the lounge, then sat dinner at possibly the best table on the deck! Food was a bit pricey, but amazing.. and the service was great, very knowledgeable and friendly waiter.. will go again for sure!

Another great time at our favorite restaurant with an ocean view and delicious lunch choices: crab dip with chips, Kalbi Beef noodles, crab Benedict and pineapple sorbet. A special shout out to our server Hanna who was as attentive and as gracious always!
Even though Gannon's is about an hour plus drive for us, it has consistently proven to be a destination worthy of the trip. Looking forward to the next one!

Hostess at first put us at the highest traffic table in the place. We initially questioned her and she said that the traffic shouldn’t be a problem. Our very fine waitress immediately sat us at another table. Really noisy due to a very energetic wedding crowd. The food was edible but not what I expected for the price. Chicken wing appetizer was really good but my main of scallops risotto was bland and mushy. Wedding crowd on their cell phones constantly in the immediate area, Drunk wedding guest runs by the table shouting..... The bill arrived with an extra $40 added to a bottle of wine. The waitress initially told me that the price was as noted on the bill. I insisted on seeing the wine carte and she brought it back saying that I was in fact correct. On purpose or an accident? Can’t be sure. Again, the waitress was a star. The rest was not so bright.

Our first time at Gannons and the food was great. We both had meat entrees after 10 days in Maui with a lot of fish. The ribs and beef were outstanding alone with the crab appetizer which was served warm in a mini skillet. Will go back next year

Front desk staff friendly. Quick move to the table. Wonderful view from deck. Saw whales in the distance. Servers very attentive. Food marked with GF . Was easy for me to choose. Presentation of food excellent and taste of food even better.
Totally enjoyable lunch. Came back two nights later for dinner and found the same excellent service. Highly recommend Gannon's.

Our favorite dining on Maui. On this visit we all had the fresh catch, Mahi Mahi and it was outstanding. We come here several times each winter and are never disappointed. Justin is one of our favorite servers and he did an excellent job.
