We had a group of 7 including 2 teenagers & a pre-teen that were in town for a national basketball tournament. We were looking for a place to have a nice sit-down dinner that all of us could enjoy. We found this place on Open Table and thought it sounded perfect and made a reservation. We couldn't have been happier with our restaurant choice. The server was very attentive and all of us were extremely happy with the the food. Although my husband is a ribeye man, there was no ribeye on the menu so he hesitantly ordered the NY Strip. He said his NY Strip was the best strip steak he has ever had, and couldn't stop bragging about it. Other meals ordered at our table included the paella, wild mushroom risotto, and lamb shank, and they were all so delicious. All 7 of us would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area.

The staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the dishes. Mr. Gamba must let the wait staff try the different dishes since ours explained the dish and he was spot on. Everything we had from appetizers, wine, and main course was very much to our liking. Mr. Gamba came around and asked how things were going and if he could do anything for us. My wife ordered the whole Dover Sole and Mr. Gamba came and boned it table side himself. It was delicious. Everyone was very friendly and out waiter was attentive however not overly so and made us feel at ease and no feeling of being rushed. My sister had flown in from out of town so we had a lot to talk about and she just couldn't say enough about her experience at Gamba's. Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful experience. A bit slow on service but the kindness of the owner and quality of the food more than made up for it!

My lamb came out so peppery that you could not taste anything but the pepper. My server was happy to replace it with an amazing veal chop. Everything was delicious and the service was perfect!

This is undoubtedly the best Italian restaurant in Indiana. Family owned and operated but elegant and beautiful. I never travel to Indiana without dining at Gamba Ristorante !

Per usual, we had a great dining experience at Gamba! The food, the service and the ambiance are all exceptional! We were there for a friend’s birthday lunch and a delicious chocolate raspberry torte was brought out gratis. It was large enough for 5 people to share. Gamba is the top restaurant in Northwest Indiana and we have enjoyed eating there everytime we go.

Excellent food, atmosphere, and service! We love this place and go for special occasions.

Very enjoyable night out

Took my wife out for valentine’s day lunch. Warmly greeted by the owner when we arrived, seated promptly and our server immediately came to our table. The food was amazing, as always. Definitely our favorite restaurant in the area.

It had been a while since my last visit to Gamba's so I was looking forward to our dinner. After I made my reservation I heard that their chef passed away which made me a little concerned about the food. No worries. The former chef must have done a great job of training his staff; the food was great! Make sure to try the veal tenderloin, awesome.

All of my guest said that Gamba was a nice place to have business dinner and also it was very good & delicious Italian food. We had very good time in this Ristorante. Thank you.

Always delicious food, wine, and the best service! We always order the special or a steak and savor every bite. The shrimp cocktail was awesome.

We have been visiting Benito (Benny) Gamba's restaurants for 25 years. Never, have we been disappointed. Always, have enjoyed the food and service. Nowhere else in the area can you find Elk, Rabbit, Lamb, & Duck on the menu. Not to mention the amazing steaks & pasta options.

The host and staff were very friendly. As usual, the food was OUTSTANDING

Cant complain about the food or the waitress. But when I contacted and sent my situation to the restaurants email, they never even responded and acknowledge my complaint. Below is my email sent to them to receive no response. I would love to return but if they cant even acknowledge my concerns I wont return and wont recommend to friends.

"To whom it concerns,

I want to start off by saying I am not looking to try to get any free meals out of this email, just to inform of a couple things i wasn't too happy about for my visit.

First off, I made reservations for my girlfriend and I for 7:15 for an anniversary dinner. We arrive 10 minutes early because I never like getting to places late. We weren't seated until 15 minutes after our appointment time at 7:30. If I make reservations and Im on time i would think i would not have to wait for another 15 minutes. Not a huge deal, just my opinion.

Secondly... My New York Strip that I ordered medium rare, and my girlfriends Filet Mignon (She ordered Medium). That being said when they come out they switched the cooking of them So hers was medium rare and mine was medium. No big deal, mistakes happen. They gave me a whole new steak they cooked. But for hers they just through it back in the grill. Im no steak connoisseur, but I do know when cooking them you NEVER want to puncture it. Which hers was completely sliced in half with a bite eaten off of it. Would not be a big deal if I was at a local cheap steakhouse, but if I am paying $50 for a steak I think it should of been handled a little differently.

Needless to say, the food was still awesome and our waitress was great as well. No complaints besides the two i stated above. I do plan on returning again soon, great atmosphere and drinks were good too.

We met family at Gamba's for a lunch during the holidays. Service was outstanding...no complaints at all. Food was ok to good...but not great. Given the prices, I was expecting a little bit more. the lasagna special was simply layers of pasta on pasta with tomato sauce on the very top - disappointing. my chicken scallopini was super sweet...not what I expected or wanted. scallopini is supposed to be lemony with a briny quality in the background from capers. I couldn't detect any lemon flavor at all. they must have used a sweet wine in the recipe. I have to say again that the service was extremely good...but for the price, I will go somewhere else with more authentic and tastier dishes.
