Gallo Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
This was about the 5th time we've dined at Gallo. We tend to go before shows at Ridgefield Playhouse because of the proximity. All have been good experiences, whether with two people or up to 8 people. Service has been variable (it can be a bit slow), but on this visit, our server was Helene, who was absolutely great!
If you are going here before a show, we recommend to tell your server so they move you through in time for your curtain.
Service was a bit slow but not really enough to complain about. food was excellent with a nice menu selection. considering how crowded it was it was relatively quiet and I was glad that the background music was just that - background, and just the right volume. Overall a very nice experience and we will definitely return.
The food in Gallo is consistently good. Our friends were impressed and loved the spaghetti finished inside the Parmesan cheese and the fish special that was perfectly cooked. We had pizza and the special pasta with lobster in a spicy sauce was delicious as well. The service is always good and friendly. It is kind of loud when full but it is fun.
Food was good when we finally got it. We chose the restaurant due to its proximity to the Ridgefield playhouse. We were almost late to our show because our waitress was too busy chatting with friends of hers to attend to us even though we told her we were going to a show.
- Valet staff personable, friendly and efficient
- Hostess friendly
- Waiter took order and never saw him until he delivered the check!! Support staff were amazing delivering food, removing plates and keeping water filled. Waiter never checked on meal, huge delay between dinner and dessert offering (another waitress actually saw my frustration and took dessert order) and no offer to refill coffee.... for a dinner for 2 without alcohol and a bill of $100 I expect some effort by waiter to be engaged in my dinner.
All of our meals were delicious. I had the sole almondine, our guests the short ribs over polenta, lasagna. Apps were outstanding, calamari and eggplant rollitini. Our waitress was great too. Gallo always good always consistent,. You should make a reservation as it is always busy.
Valet parking, casual dining or dress up atmosphere however you feel that night, excellent food selection and delicious. Different dishes outside the box. On the higher side of cost for a meet up with a friend but nice for special occasions or a date night.
I ordered the short ribs with polenta special. The waiter returned with a plate of seafood and pasta. When I told him I ordered the short ribs he said "I heard shrimp ". I know what I ordered and my husband heard my order. A simple sorry would have sufficed, not what he heard. Which never during the whole evening did I consider having shrimp and I don't eat gluten. He shouldn't be putting the blame on me! I know mistakes happen. Just own it. I won't be back.
We had a delicious dinner prior to a show at the Ridgefield Playhouse. Everyone cleaned their plates so it was a good night all around.
Went back for a drink after the show. The bar was busy when we arrived but cleared out shortly thereafter. Used to be more of a late night crowd here.
From the moment we walked in and the hostess disappeared to the over zealous waitstaff, the restaurant disappointed us. The pizza was soggy and the pasta in Parma wheel was flavorless. Sorry, I don't like to give a totally bad review but on the way out I mentioned our experience to the hostess who then told us we were there too long anyway.
This restaurant is always good, all our friends that we have taken there for the first time return over and over for the same reason. the owner is always there and you can tell. the food is consistently good and so is the service. if you are going to a concert or to the movie theater down the street this is perfect for that.
Gallo is a great location for dinner before a show at the Ridgefield Playhouse. We had attentive service, great food (halibut special, pappardelle, steak) and could have a 4-way conversation on the enclosed patio. Will be a "go-to" dining destination before future Playhouse shows!
Gallo has become our go-to restaurant when we just want a great meal. It never disappoints. There are always interesting and delicious specials to supplement the menu, there are excellent yet reasonable wine by the glass choices (try the Montepulciano) and the atmosphere manages to be both cozy and elegant - so good for the special date night and the weekend dinner when nobody wants to cook but you still want a really tasty meal. The chef manages to make meals that feel homey (no pretention) even when quite creative and not something you would actually cook at home.
Starting with the valet who was not pleasant at all to going in and our table was not ready for 20 mins after our reservation. The hostess didn't seem to care that our table wasn't ready. Our waiter seemed to be busy so the service wasn't good. I also didn't get the dish I ordered.
A very disappointing evening and we will not return.
