Excellent service and food.
What a delightful dinner. We all enjoyed the dining experience.
Pre theatre- nice friendly server- nice Delicious meal- were located in the porch area outside bar which was fine for us-
Great Easter experience !
Gallo’s is great for any big occasion,
small occasion or just a “you and me” occasion .
Beautiful setting, delightful staff and delicious but not five star worthy food. We had the veal, lobster diablo and lasangna - veal dish was very salty, Diablo sauce lacked much spice and the lasagna was good but nothing to stood out about it.
That said, the owner, hostess and waitress were all very kind and welcoming - clearly a welcoming environment for all. I would go back purely because of how great the people were.
I have been to events in the bar (fundraisers) and enjoyed their drink selection and bar setting as well. Good place to grab a few drinks and sit at the bar for a meal.
Never been before but thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Owners were present and welcoming. Wait staff was friendly and efficient! Food was superb! I would suggest Gallo to anyone!
I love the specials. Great food and nice ambience. Very friendly staff.
Noise level a little high but we were seated in bar area on Saturday night during prime dinner time. Once that section of restaurant emptied as it got later it was more cozy.
We checked in with the hostess who proceeded to take us to our table---a “lovely” table literally steps from the kitchen in a very high traffic area---this was simply unacceptable! We were upset and requested another table to which the hostess stated that the restaurant was “booked solid”, but she will check. She returned to her post, checked the computer, returned and apologetically stated the same excuse. Miraculously, she returned once again stating she will seat us on the enclosed patio; a very nice window table and we were very thankful. Why she chose not to seat us at this table initially remains a mystery. Why give patrons options to enter any special occasion and special requests if they are simply ignored?
To summarize our food experience, the appetizer was completely over salted, the salads were mediocre at best and one entre was over salted while the other lacked taste. On the bright side, the pasta and desserts were very good.
As for the wait staff, aside from bringing food and drink and removing plates, they were just about nonexistent. Never once did our waitress ask if everything was OK or if we needed anything.
With high expectations due to the intriguing menu, we were very excited to dine at Gallo restaurant; unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. Since there are many wonderful restaurants available, I simply cannot justify neither the 45 minute trip to Gallo’s, nor the high price ($180 including tax and tip). Sadly, I don’t feel this was an off night for them, but rather a customary one.
Had a great experience at Gallo. I met up with family for a nice meal before going to the Ridgefield Barn for a show. Everything was excellent! From the ambiance, food, and service. Would highly recommend this to anyone for amazing Italian food and time. Can't wait to go back!
I'd never been here before. I thought the food was well-prepared and the service was excellent. The noise level was low enough to have a conversation without having to resort to lip-reading. I'll definitely return.
Everything was disappointing. Our server failed to tell us about the specials but we heard her mention them to other diners. We ordered mussels as an appetizer and it took at least half an hour even though it was a relatively slow night. When they arrived, they were gummy and did not taste good. Even the white wine sauce was missing garlic, salt and pepper...all the things that would have helped the mussels. Our entrees, lasagne and risotto, were both bland and underwhelming. I jokingly referred to them as Chef Boyardee versions of dinner and if you remember that from your youth, you'll know what our dinners were like. Tasteless, bland and missing whatever each of them should have had to justify their prices. The dessert was the best part of the night and I recommend the bread pudding. It was warm, decadent and I eagerly ate it knowing it was going to be the best part of the experience. I'm not sure why people flock to Gallo when the food is so uniformly blah.
Outstanding food and service. The ambiance is wonderful, its a beautiful restaurant. They can make anything you want as you want it.
We’ve been here over a half dozen times and it’s always very good.
Have been to the restaurant a number of times and I am never disappointed. Food is outstanding, excelent wine list, great service and the pricing is fair.
Warm, friendly staff and a really good vibe in the bar section of the restaurant. The food is always outstanding!
We used to go to this restaurant when we would be seeing a show at the Ridgefield Playhouse. Now we make the drive from Westchester County, NY when we want a great meal with fantastic service.
pretty good food, but very slow kitchen ,it took about 45 minutes to an hour to get our meal
Nice food and ambiance to get together with friends for a great meal.
great location for the Ridgefiled Play House, , funny thing was i asked for directions to the play house, as i had never been there, but they gave me directions to the wrong theater, only 1/2 milke apart no big deal.
This was about the 5th time we've dined at Gallo. We tend to go before shows at Ridgefield Playhouse because of the proximity. All have been good experiences, whether with two people or up to 8 people. Service has been variable (it can be a bit slow), but on this visit, our server was Helene, who was absolutely great!
If you are going here before a show, we recommend to tell your server so they move you through in time for your curtain.
Gallo is a go-to for a quality dining experience from interesting appetizers to wonderful desserts.
3 our of 4 dinners were amazing . Veal special was dry and unappealing. Sole was fabulous as was lamb shank. Salmon good as well. We were having dinner before Ridgefield theatre which stated free drink for each but they were not all removed from bill.
We celebrated New Year's Eve at Gallo. The dinner was quite enjoyable and the service was attentive. The entertainment for the evening was great. The evening was really perfect.
Have been dining here since Gallo opened. Never had a bad meal. New years evening was no exception. A tough night in most restaurants. Here good food and great service. highly recommended.
First time here, we enjoyed having a conversation without having to scream at each other. Definitely on my favorites list.
We always enjoy Gallo. There is something for everyone with special requests accommodated happily.
A special family holiday celebration and as always, excellent!!
Service was a bit slow but not really enough to complain about. food was excellent with a nice menu selection. considering how crowded it was it was relatively quiet and I was glad that the background music was just that - background, and just the right volume. Overall a very nice experience and we will definitely return.
Always great and our favorite server Sara is excellent.
The food in Gallo is consistently good. Our friends were impressed and loved the spaghetti finished inside the Parmesan cheese and the fish special that was perfectly cooked. We had pizza and the special pasta with lobster in a spicy sauce was delicious as well. The service is always good and friendly. It is kind of loud when full but it is fun.
The staff was very attentive and courteous The atmosphere was very pleasing and the food was just okay in my opinion.
The food was delicious, though my husband would have preferred a bit more meat in the lasagna. The service was efficient and pleasant, and I liked the atmosphere. I'd highly recommend Gallo.
- Valet staff personable, friendly and efficient
- Hostess friendly
- Waiter took order and never saw him until he delivered the check!! Support staff were amazing delivering food, removing plates and keeping water filled. Waiter never checked on meal, huge delay between dinner and dessert offering (another waitress actually saw my frustration and took dessert order) and no offer to refill coffee.... for a dinner for 2 without alcohol and a bill of $100 I expect some effort by waiter to be engaged in my dinner.
Food was good when we finally got it. We chose the restaurant due to its proximity to the Ridgefield playhouse. We were almost late to our show because our waitress was too busy chatting with friends of hers to attend to us even though we told her we were going to a show.
Excellent food and service.
Pre Theatre dinner- taken on time and it was very busy!! Service, Selection and dinner were all excellent- 1st time here and will go back- valet parking was a plus.
While visiting my 100 yr old mother in CT, a friend and I took her to this restaurant that had very high reviews. I don't think it warranted a high review. The small parking lot was congested. We arrived at 6pm on a weekday. Parking in the lot was only by valet. Trying to leave the parking lot took 15 minutes. All valets were busy and the entrance/exit to the lot was back to back cars. I found my own car and tried to drive out, but too many cars were stopped.
When we arrived the service was attentive, but no mention was made about accomodations for my mother who has been there multiple times. As the restaurant filled, our server was not around. My mother and I ordered two pasta dishes, $23.00 - Orecchiette (Brussels sprouts, sweet Italian sausage, N'duja sausage, stracciatella cheese) and $22.00 - Lasagna (Traditional, Emiliana-style meat lasagna) while the friend ordered a Margherita pizza with fresh basil for $14. Very little basil and had to wait to ask for more. All meals were substantial and good. Wine glass portions were small and pricey.
All of our meals were delicious. I had the sole almondine, our guests the short ribs over polenta, lasagna. Apps were outstanding, calamari and eggplant rollitini. Our waitress was great too. Gallo always good always consistent,. You should make a reservation as it is always busy.
