   Our service was outstanding, food delicious except lasagna was dry,so a touch of sauce(?) might have made the dish more appealing.The salad with shrimp was outstanding as was the fennel,with beet salad. We enjoyed a lovely wine with our meal.

   I've been here several times and each time the food was outstanding. I also like the small intimate space.

   Our meal and evening were OK at Gallo Nero, but in a city with so many fine restaurants, OK doesn't earn a return visit. Things we enjoyed: Tasting Menu (good value) Caprese salad (fresh and tasty) House Prosecco (light, good bubbles, solid value) Gluten free pasta options (thank you for that) Things that could improve: Wine service (if you charge corkage, you need to know how to serve wine, the host should taste it, you should pour it, no it doesn't get air in the bottle) Gamberi (smelled like cat food) Flatware service (no I don't want to hang onto my used flatware for the next course)

   This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Portland. I ate here the night I flew in to Portland to make it my new home. Came back two days later. That was in 2013. It's my number one go-to spot for clean, fresh, amazing food, cooked beautifully every time. The restaurant has a tiny kitchen, is an intimate setting. Davide and Becca make everyone feel welcome. The wines are wonderful, the desserts divine. I've never had a disappointing meal there, have brought numerous people there. Their wine dinners are also fantastic, great food paired with wonderful wines. You can't go wrong choosing Gallo Nero for lunch or dinner.

   Great Italian food. The chef is from Tuscany. Loved the mozzarella and eggplant salad. Servers were friendly and super helpful. The drink menu is fantastic. My husband loved his gnocchis. Can’t wait to return.

   Gallo Nero is my new favorite find. Fresh and unusual pastas. Great bean dishes. And the wine!

   Food was great. It would have been great if portion sizes were a little bigger but overall very good. We will be back.

   Love the food here and the staff are great. Too noisy of a corner to sit outside, will choose inside table in the future...hard choice because the location is great otherwise.

    The portions are too small, the corkage is ridiculous for a restaurant like this, the ambiance does not do anything to encourage a return visit...candles would be nice. They are trying to be something they are not! The waitstaff tries too hard and come off as fake. They need a redo! The food is good which is why they should up their game with a better scene all around. It just doesn't feel like what they are attempting to be!! Corkage would be a good start! $25.00??? Way too much!! Pompous waiter! No candles on bare tables! Flowers would have been nice somewhere in the restaurant and the bar is a joke!! They definitely need a redo!!
