   Galley and Garden is a great quaint restaurant. It has the feeling of a home when you walk in but also an elevated vibe that still made it feel like date night but also comfortable. You could easily dress up or dress down; the atmosphere gives a good balance. The food was delicious and service were very friendly as well! It is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Birmingham.

   Have always enjoyed the dining experience which spans about 7 years. The quality of the food and taste never disappoints. I noticed a few differences on my most recent visit. The food portions are much smaller, from appetizers to dessert. The salad portions are the same and the house made dressings are unique to them. Although noticeably smaller portions overall, the quality and taste remain outstanding. Perfectly prepared medium salmon and well seared scallops. There was just one server for 18 guest. This was a six, two-four, and two-two tops in the same dining space. Although there was ample space between tables, the room was rather loud and it was hard to hear across our small table of two. The server George was pleasant and friendly but he was too busy to be attentive. No further Wine service beyond the initial pour for each table with bottle service. This was surprising for such an elegant restaurant and also a decline in the service attentiveness from the past. The water service was excellent, there was an assist from another service staff member. Overall, with new expectations gleaned from my last visit I will still return to support this community gem.

   We arranged a small dinner for a group of business executives. I worked with Teri (private events) and She was amazing to work with and could not have been more helpful. We highly recommend Galley and Garden for private events. We will be back for sure. thank you again!

   Goodness! Tasteless was about all I can say. Started with fried green tomatoes that were so bland I decided the calories weren’t worth it, And then tried the lamb chops And they made the fried green tomatoes taste Good! Lol They we’re so so tough! Just altogether a terribly bland dinner. They didn’t charge me for the tomatoes but they did the lamb chops that I was able to cut a few bites from. We were also there for 3 hours! The noise level of the other table in the dining area was also AWFUL! Not the date we were hoping for but the date we got! Lol They did try to be semi accommodating. The server was mediocre at best. He offered us bread service after we’d ALREADY gotten our entrees and did not ensure my drinks were correct! This is not fine dining that we are use to. Another Birmingham, Alabama thumbs down for us!

    Wonderful menu, great service,, beautiful patio. We prefer to sit outside, weather permitting. There was some traffic noise from rush hour (it was 6:00) but otherwise perfect. They allowed us to bring our small, well behaved Shi Tzu. We have enjoyed this restaurant for many years, and we wish they had not renovated in a contemporary style inside, as we loved the traditional look and feel, which complemented the building itself. Service was excellent and our food was Y only had one Chardonnay by the glass and it wasn’t from California, which was a little disappointing but did not put a damper on the evening.     We went for a family brunch. Very nice setting in a historic building. There are multiple smaller dining areas. Our server was excellent and our food was superb. This was our first time visiting, but we plan to come back for dinner, and experience their offerings in the evening as well. Highly recommend for a nice unique place to dine.

    My boyfriend and I went here for a Prom pre-dinner and the experience was out of this world. The service was wonderful and the food was spectacular. Would definitely recommend this place for and evening dinner or special occasion!! And the entire building was so beautiful. A wonderful time indeed.

    We were celebrating my birthday and had a wonderful time. Our server, John, was very knowledgeable about the food, great personality and fun. Even though they had a reception upstairs with 70 people and prom night, he was still pleasant and easy going. The food was excellent! I had the filet which was cooked to perfection. Several in my party had the shrimp and grits which they said was marvelous. The appetizer of pimento cheese fritters was delicious. Another item to note is that they have a number of gluten free options. This was one of the reasons that I chose to come here for dinner. The experience was wonderful and we will definitely go back!

    Our server Ali was fantastic. She was extremely accommodating and made my night/date very special. I didn’t have time to bring flowers for my date, and she was able to have one on the table for me to give. It worked out perfectly. Ali also spent some extra time and gave us a tour of the upstairs. The food was excellent. We loved the tomato turnover and the Key lime mousse. Overall it was a perfect Experience. Thanks again.

    Wasn’t impressed after hearing so many great recommendations. Our waitress could give a rip what we ordered and the short rib was too dry. Way too expensive for that.

    Service was outstanding. Unfortunately, the food was not good. I had the filet with crab cake and shrimp which was not only overpriced but the food had no flavor or seasoning to it. The crabcake was full of fillers, the meat had not even been salted before it was cooked, and the shrimp had absolutely no flavor. It was served with mashed potatoes which also had no flavor. Everyone else agreed that the food was simply not good that night. It was a Monday night, so perhaps they had a different and inexperienced cook filling in? Completely overpriced for the quality of food that was served.

    Lovely dinner with the family!! The food was outstanding, as was the service. The tables were fairly spread apart so you had a sense of privacy and couldn’t hear everyone else’s conversation. The noise level was perfect for carrying on conversations without having to talk over loud music or other people. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely go again!!

    Lovely brunch on a beautiful spring day! The service was, as always, spectacular; the food delicious, cocktail selection was superb. I love the New Orleans vibe and menu inspiration. We have dined at Galley and Garden for years (when it was Veranda) and it never disappoints. We only wish they had not refurbished in a contemporary theme instead of the old world charm that matched the exterior of the building. There was a guitarist/singer on the patio and that added to the fun, though I prefer the New a Orleans style jazz trio. We will go backpack soon!

    The food is over priced for the value. I had fried grouper placed over cold veggies . Awful. The service was horrible. The wait staff came to our table with no introduction. I had to ask her name. She waited on our table in passing. She didn’t give us a chance to ask a question. Second time we have tried the place and the last. Here’s a tip, send your staff and managers over to the Hot and Hot Fish Club, your former neighbor for tips on how run a first class restaurant.

    The service was very good, and sitting on the patio at sunset was a great experience. I'm a little disappointed in the store bought squid ink ravioli at over a $40 price point. The pork belly app, lamb chops, and trifle were good. PHowever, a small coupe is a challenging vessel to eat the trifle. I know that it's for portion control, but the experience wasn't as enjoyable.

    Waiter said they were substituting the prime rib for the special rib eye steak but failed to mention it was $68 as opposed to the special which was $33. Kind of a big difference. Food was good not great and atmosphere was very noisy. Not a good date venue if you want to talk.

    We had a great experience at Galley and Garden, the first time we've visited. We had a group of eight celebrating my 98 year old mother's birthday,and we all thoroughly enjoyed the meal and dining experience. Our primary server was John G, and he was very personable and attentive, making sure that everything arrived in a timely manner. The rhythm was pretty near perfect. All of the staff coordinated their actions well. The food tasted great, and we were all happy with our meals and dessert. They also have a very good wine list, reasonably priced. Overall I'd have to say that our experience was pretty near impeccable. I'm looking forward to going back as soon as possible.

    We truly enjoyed our visit to Galley and Garden. Our server George was very polite and professional, all the food arrived quickly and we enjoyed everything we had. We had the lobster pimento fried green tomatoes, the salmon and scallops as entrees and the banana pudding for dessert. We ate dinner early before a show so the restaurant was quiet. We appreciate the ambiance of the restaurant as well. We'd definitely come back--event the valets were friendly and kind! Highly recommend.

    The food was absolutely incredible. I had the southern pickled shrimp and lobster squid ink ravioli. I was so thrilled to see both on the menu, as I haven't seen either the pickled shrimp or any kind of squid ink pasta since I moved to Birmingham. The food was well-presented and flavorful, the ambiance was perfect, and they made sure we felt celebrated for our anniversary! Can't wait to go back!
