The service is outstanding! The dry age meat is to die for! The sound is perfect. Good wine list.
As always, the food was incredible. I was not thrilled with the service this visit... in the past, it's always been fantastic. Patrick was not as attentive as every other server I've had in the past. But the Porterhouse for Two was PERFECT! I like it prepared "Pittsburg Medium", which I know is difficult, especially when there is a bone. But they NAILED IT!
consistently wonderful steakhouse experience!
around theater time reservations are a must!
At this exorbitant and indifferent landmark Manhattan steakhouse, errors of service stack up almost as quickly as the bill. Cocktails are large, strong and well mixed. The meat is of a high grade, and cooked to the requested degree of doneness. Apps and sides are carelessly plated and brusquely deposited. Each mistake receives a polite apology and a prompt replacement -- so prompt as to make it clear that the replacement dish is ready and waiting for whoever happens to be next. If money is not among your concerns, you could have a very good time here before or after a show; but there must be more carefully-wrought and fulfilling dining experiences to be had for around $200 per person in Manhattan circa 2018, even in Midtown West.
I want to thank the wonderful staff at Gallagher's Steakhouse. I booked the reservation for my parent's 50th Wedding Anniversary. They took in a Broadway show and went to eat afterwards. When making the reservation I wrote that they were celebrating their 50th. The staff took it from there. My parents called to say how impressed and grateful they were. Thank you, thank you, thank you for making a special occasion even more memorable for my parents.
This is my 4th time eating there and the waiters are always so friendly and nice. It was my second time getting Pedro and he is the best. Super friendly and great to talk to.
It was a very pleasant experience overall. Thank you!
El lugar muy ambientado, solo q tardaron un poco en servir el plato fuerte
Food was great, service was timely and great location
This is the second time that I went to gallaghers before a Broadway show. The menu has a lot to choose from and the food is excellent. The wate service is extremely friendly and make the dining experience very pleasurable. I will definitely be back and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.
We came in pre-theater and were served quickly and with great attention. I ordered the filet medium-rare, and it was close, but probably more medium. We had extra left over that the restaurant staff boxed up for us. When the theater said we could not bring it in, we went back to the restaurant, which happily held it for us until after the show.
Terrible noise level. We had a 5:30 reservation and 8:00 Broadway show. We felt we were being hurried the entire time to finish.
My steak did not seem like a dry aged USDA Prime ribeye. Our previous two nights dinners were at Le Bernadin and River Cafe’. This experience paled in comparison to both.
Outstanding dinner and service. Staff could not do enough to make the meal and most pleasant experience
Really very good. Must go
It was an amazing dinning experience. The food was fantastic and the waiting staff made us feel special. It’s high end so ideal for a birthday or special occasion.
We took away a doggie bag!!
Gallaghers is Gallaghers. You get what you expect: funny, noisy place, wonderful meat and friendly personnel, and ..... some history. You pay for what you get.
Service was terrific and food was much better than I anticipated. Had a bone in sirloin which was decent size for one person - not overly huge. Very tasty and cooked perfectly as requested. I went before theatre performance nearby and was in and out very timely. I’ll definitely return.
Superbe soirée! Merci aux gens du service!
Excellent food and service. Nice price fixed menu for lunch. Dinner is awesome as well
Great atmosphere, great service and the food was wonderful.
Best steakhouse I’ve been to in NYC - from the moment I walked in the door until the last bite of cheesecake was finished the service and quality of food was impeccable.
One of the best steaks I have ever had. Our family has been going to Gallaghers for 30 + years and the quality keeps improving.
Tomahawk steak was very disappointing. Undercooked, sliced parallel to the grain, sinewy and not at all tender as expected. Service was great and both the server and host went out of their way to try to rectify the disappointment with the steak. We were comped all of our sides, dessert, and after dinner drinks.
This was a wonderful place to eat. The steak and prime rib were top notch. The service was outstanding. The Old Fashion drink was the best, highly recommend.
Dissapointing. Excellent steaks ruined be managements total lack of interest in customers. The excellent chefs were negated by the Indiffferent service and complete lack of customer service . We went for an 85th birthday celebration to take my father to a place he visited many times over the last 30 years for their prime rib. Despite a 6pm reservation he was told 20 min after ordering that they were out of prime rib. The manager did not make a single effort to turn this disappointment into a positive experience. Nothing. The original owners would have been flabbergasted from what my dad told me. Do not go for any special occasion or if you want to be treated as a valued or appreciated customer. It was the most disappointing experience we had and we felt so bad for my father who was looking to experience the resaurant of his many visits in the past. Sadly a historical reputation that no longer meets the needs of todays diner.
Great service. Great food. I will choose here over a Monster Chain everyday!!
We are Peter Luger devotees so were amazed to find that we felt the porterhouse steak was as the closest to Luger we have ever had (missing the butter we like at Luger but meat comparable). Roomy booth, perfect service, great drinks, sides, desserts. Can't believe we never went before; will now be an excellent alternative in the west 50s.
What an amazing place and made to feel very welcome, was my wife’s birthday and certainly one to remember. Food amazing, place amazing and will go back next time I’m in New York again. Thank you.
Excellent porterhouse, nice service
The Porterhouse for two was very disappointing. They can learn something from Peter Lugers and Wolfgang’s.
Rude, abrupt and rushed. Never will return. Spoilt our short time in New York.
As always a wonderful meal, great service just one of the best old school steakhouse in mid-town Manhattan. Great wine list!! Can't wait to go back again!
Food was good. However, our steaks were not cooked as requested. Taste and presentation were perfect. Very good server.
March 5, 2018. My second time at Gallagher's. Overall a great experience : crab-stuffed jumbo shrimp and amazing half-chicken were exquisite and perfectly sized. Broccoli rabe enough for two. The complimentary birthday cake was delicious, and I drank possibly the best Manhattan of my life. My one quibble is that unlike last year, when an old-school, older waiter served us and treated my grown son and I like personal guests (as I could see he did with all his tables), our Stanley Tucci-looking guy was perfunctory at first and then mostly ignored us. A young waiter could see us unable to get our waiter's attention and basically took over for him in addition to having his own tables. That second waiter was a consummate professional ... attentive without being fussy, and friendly without being obsequious. A wonderful pro. One especially great touch: When he and others brought out my son's birthday cake, he saw my son's name on the envelope of a birthday card, and included his name in the song. A small thing, perhaps, but (I say as someone who grew up in the restaurant business) the kind of attention to detail and care about guests that any manager in the hospitality business is lucky to have. I wish I knew his name, and I left about a 25% tip hoping our official waiter would split it with him.
I have been to all of the great steakhouses in NYC. Gallagher is by far the best in every category.
Impressive selection of steaks with a good variety of preparation styles/sauces. One of the best steakhouses in NYC.
Great traditional steak. Must-go place! Jim is the best!
We had a wonderful time and a terrific dinner! We had been here a couple of times before but that was more than two decades ago and it lived up to our memories. It is a busy place with a moderate noise level but the two of us had no trouble holding a conversation. The wait staff is continuously busy but when they are at your table they make you feel like you are their only customers. The food is the best and our steaks were cooked to perfection. The restaurant was at capacity with tables being filled as soon as they were available but we were never rushed. They made us feel like we could stay as long as we liked.
Very good meal. Great restaurant before a show.
