Gale's Restaurant is a totally local spot. It offers remarkably solid Northern Italian fare just down the road from all the hubbub. Couples, families and friends that seem to have just finished a day outdoors snuggle among the brick walls and small marble tables, drinking wine from elegant Brighton goblets. Start it off with a Burrata Salad or a steamed artichoke and then move on to the country-style Tuscan steak or one of the house made ravioli specials. For dessert, don't miss the Tiramisu or the Coconut Cake which is uncommonly tasty. The wine list is a favorite among the guests for it's variety and excellent value.

Gale's Ratings and Reviews
We were really disappointed. All signs pointed to a good meal. The appetizer was excellent, as were the drinks and wine. The bread was delicious. The entrées however fell short. My husband had the risotto with peas and it was unlike typical risotto. I had the gnocchi and it was only ok. The portions were large. The service was very good. Not sure if we hit them on an off night or if we chose the wrong thing
I enjoyed our meal at Gale's. Getting seated was a little odd; it seemed that the host and hostess were a little overwhelmed. We arrived on time for our reservation, and had to wait 10 minutes. Once we were seated, there were no more glitches. Two of us the lamb, and we were both very happy. The roasted potatoes that came with mine were excellent. My friends split chicken piccata, which they enjoyed, and gnocci. I tried the gnocci, and I thought it was very heavy. The waiter warned us that it would be -- which is not a good sign. We started with the meatball appetizer. Not particularly generous for $16, but very tasty. The rest of the dishes were all very generously sized; the "split" chicken Piccata was downright massive. In all, I'd recommend for a low-key dinner if you are in the mood for comfortable, casual Italian.
Kind, pleasant servers, fine food for lunch, limited and not so carefully prepared food for dinner, quiet for lunch, much too crowded and noisy for dinner, uncomfortable chairs for both, ridiculous decor -traditional, elegant chandelier, some traditional presumably Italian touches -walls, for example, mixed with an open kitchen and minimalist, super modern, super casual wooden look and floors.
Italian food Authentic Friendly and service is good. Parking a problem but the food is worth the trouble. The wine list is recommended. Good place for family and /or friends' dinner date. I specially like the linguini with clams with white paired with white wine Chardonnay California in particular. Thanks Cebuano 2
Gale's is ideal for a lunch. The ability to make a quick reservation and know that the menu has something for everyone. The location is ideal for Pasadena. The food is terrific with a lot of variety from comfort, to healthy, to spicy, to savory . . . it really works.
I love the ambiance at Gales, and the service is excellent, with helpful and knowledgeable staff who truly go out of their way to create a lovely dining experience. Normally, I adore the food, too--although on this particular occasion I ordered the mussels, and I have to confess that, although the mussels themselves were delicious, the broth was not very flavorful. That said, the salad I had as an appetizer--mixed greens with Parmesan and pine nuts--was fantastic, and everyone else in my party thought their meals (ranging from seafood ravioli to pepperoni pizza to a pasta with what I believe was a pork ragu) were delicious. The bread and coconut cake are delectable as well. Outside of the rather bland mussels, I highly recommend Gale's. I'll certainly be back again.
A friend recommended Gale's and it was more than the perfect place for a special dinner! Small, bustling but yet we never felt cramped in, the servers and staff were exceptional. Around when needed and helping others instantly. The food was delicious, great selections.
Took my Mom to Gale's for lunch--had a really nice time. Our server was attentive but not overwhelming--gave us plenty of time to talk and enjoy our meal.
We both had the special salad--which was excellent. Allowed us to substitute protein--thank you! Creative use of roasted cauliflower, chickpeas and cucumber with arugula--just nice flavors together. I appreciate that the salad was well-dressed, but not over-dressed (pet peeve).
Made a nice brunch drink for us, and I had a great cappuccino after lunch. They make biscotti--they are great, and it's a treat to get one after your meal.
Will definitely be back--this is a neighborhood favorite, and it's clear why.
Several years ago on a whim, I chose Gale’s for my Birthday Dinner. My girlfriend’s & I have known each other since 1st grade & we still hang out together. For our birthday, we chose the restaurant. I drive by Gale’s when I go home from work in the morning & thought “why not”?! Am so glad I did. Love, love, love it there!! We’ve missed 1 or 2 times, but always come back. The food is wonderful, love the setup inside and cannot day enough about the staff. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Treat you like family.
I have recommended several patients and the girls bring their families there too!!
Again - love, love, love!!
I would have given this place a 5 star if it had not been the overly chewy gluten free penne, it became a jaw breaker after the 1st 3 mins of chewing .
Our organic baby green chopped salad was very good .
Great service and thank you Gale’s for my complimentary birthday delicious coconut cream cake !
We always love coming here when in town visiting. Always great specials. This time two of us had the special ravioli and was so amazing! So fresh and delicious. They make their own pasta and it is the best I’ve had in a long time. They even made a special pasta dish for my husband with all the ingredients he wanted. Love their wine glasses too. Fun drinking a nice bottle of wine in them. Can’t wait to go back. Service was perfect too.
