Gale's Restaurant is a totally local spot. It offers remarkably solid Northern Italian fare just down the road from all the hubbub. Couples, families and friends that seem to have just finished a day outdoors snuggle among the brick walls and small marble tables, drinking wine from elegant Brighton goblets. Start it off with a Burrata Salad or a steamed artichoke and then move on to the country-style Tuscan steak or one of the house made ravioli specials. For dessert, don't miss the Tiramisu or the Coconut Cake which is uncommonly tasty. The wine list is a favorite among the guests for it's variety and excellent value.

Gale's Ratings and Reviews
We dined around 5.30pm saturday night - We started with the braised Artichokes Burrata and pistachios - which were excellent - When the main course eventually arrived ( took way too long - the table next to us sat down when we finished our appetizer and got their main courses just after we got ours ) We ordered white fish for my wife and I had the Chicken parmesan - Unfortunately - WAY too much garlic on the fish and also on the spinach - my chicken was OK not the best i have had thats for sure - the chicken was tough - not tender chicken breast - almost think it was a frozen one - we will give it another shot maybe sometime - hopefully they will get new chairs at some point - so uncomfortable!
I come here frequently! I brought my niece to Gales for her 23 Birthday dinner, however Saturday night, the food experience was not pleasant! I always order the spinish lasagna, but this time the cheese on my lasagna was so hard, every time I tried to cut into it, the lasagna would run across my plate! My friend ordered the meat lasagna and had the same problem! She got so exhausted from chasing her lasagna around on her plate, she gave up, refusing to eat another bite! Then my niece asked our waiter for extra Alfredo sauce for her penne noodles. They literally brought warm milk to our table, no flavor at all. I don’t think I’ll be returning to one of my favorite spots, so disappointed!!!
We are regulars here, but this was on off-night for food and service. Perhaps they were short on staff due to the flu season. The seabass was over-cooked and it took a long time to get a glass of wine, which they did comp. We ordered cappuccinos after our meal, and the coffee was room temperature. They apologized and brought us another set, but it was not much better. Our poor waiter was running around like crazy.
Maybe things will settle out and be back to normal in a few weeks.
Been to Gayle's many times. Always happy with the food/service.
Sunday night, because of Superbowl, restaurant quite empty, did not feel the same.
Calamari appetizer was under cooked (we were not charged for it )
My lasagna was very salty.
Hopefully next time it will be better
Special, scallops were not Jumbo but small and oven baked rather than pan seared so no browning—tasted a little ammonia as if they'd been on hand for awhile. Gnocchi spot on great! Everything else very good! Pasta always very good. A favorite place. A very good value.
This is the second time I've been here and I've really enjoyed both experiences. This time I was here with 6 other friends/family, so there was a lot of tasting other dishes. Loved my mushroom ravioli the best (I chose well!) my sis Laurie had lemon shrimp pasta (lovely!) nephew Ryan had rack of lamb (perfection) friend Barb had short rib on risotto (my second favorite) and my sis Margy tried the pappardelle pork ragu (?) also really wonderful. We tried 2 bottles of wine, loved the very reasonably priced Rombauer Chardonnay and the Luna Sangiovese just went perfect with everything. This was a pre-Pirates of Penzance dinner, so the whole experience was just the right touch to enjoy a very silly play. Great evening in Pasadena!
We were really disappointed. All signs pointed to a good meal. The appetizer was excellent, as were the drinks and wine. The bread was delicious. The entrées however fell short. My husband had the risotto with peas and it was unlike typical risotto. I had the gnocchi and it was only ok. The portions were large. The service was very good. Not sure if we hit them on an off night or if we chose the wrong thing
I enjoyed our meal at Gale's. Getting seated was a little odd; it seemed that the host and hostess were a little overwhelmed. We arrived on time for our reservation, and had to wait 10 minutes. Once we were seated, there were no more glitches. Two of us the lamb, and we were both very happy. The roasted potatoes that came with mine were excellent. My friends split chicken piccata, which they enjoyed, and gnocci. I tried the gnocci, and I thought it was very heavy. The waiter warned us that it would be -- which is not a good sign. We started with the meatball appetizer. Not particularly generous for $16, but very tasty. The rest of the dishes were all very generously sized; the "split" chicken Piccata was downright massive. In all, I'd recommend for a low-key dinner if you are in the mood for comfortable, casual Italian.
