I love the people who work at Gales, who always make our experience wonderful. They are like a family and Gales is the closest thing in Pasadena to a "Cheers" like neighborhood joint!
Authentic Italian fare with generous portions. Very good/attentive service. Tight quarters for “intimate “ dining better suited for families or larger parties. Overall a good neighborhood restaurant!!
The lemon risotto with asparagus and roast chicken is sublime! It pairs well with some prosecco. Ho mangiato bene!
We split the lasagna and the country steak. The lasagna is a longtime favorite. The steak was wonderful! The service was friendly and attentive. Thanks for a great experience.
We always enjoy Gale’s. They have great Italian good at reasonable prices. Saturday we ordered a pizza with meatball and mushrooms. The crust is very thin and crisp, our preference. We also had a rustic Cesar salad. The dressing is excellent. We usually bring a bottle of our own wine since the corkage fee is a very reasonable $10, but they seem to have a very diverse wine selection. Parking is on site which is an additional perk. We highly recommend Gale’s.
Foos was mostly good. We thought the overall experience as good...a good night out with friends.
Everything was exceptional (as usual.) Our server was attentive and engaged. The food was perfect, the coconut cream cake to die for. Noise level high (as usual, too.) But, Gale's remains my favorite place to go.
Rey nice lunch with girlfriend, good service , good food , will certainly return
Haven't been here is quite some time and it was even better than I remembered. Greeted with a welcoming smile, service was great and without the rush you find in many busy restaurants. The
food was 'fit for foodies' as the saying goes... and then some. The squash blossoms were delicious
as was the breaded scampi (very lightly breaded to maintain the crunch and sweetness). Overall
was a terrific dining experience... oh and by the way... the Coconut Cream Cake was over the top!!!
We went for an early dinner - the antipasto is great, but save room for dessert - the dessert sampler is GREAT!
Gale’s is my go-to Italian restaurant. Food is really tasty and quality very consistent. Unfortunately, service was a little spotty this visit (eg, bread stale, no offer of cheese with our pasta, had to ask multiple people multiple times for butter, infrequent check-ins by server, etc.).
Great service and ambiance! Really like how staff made sure we didn’t need anything else. Our waiter (I think his name was Raul) was very kind and had great wine and dessert recommendations. Food was very yummy too! I would definitely come back.
The food excellent, and the service courteous and quick - no frills. However the restaurant itself feels fairly rundown, and in need of a major refresh - the layout is also random and awkward, multiple doors to toilets and kitchen right in the middle, and they walk you right past it and skip the (slightly) more finished part of the restaurant. And it’s not the part of the kitchen you want on stage: dishewashing and machinery. It also causes major kitchen noise to affect lots of tables. A shame with such good food.
This wonderful spot continues to be our favorite for Italian food when we’re in Pasadena. The food quality is outstanding and very flavorful. Service staff are professional, friendly and helpful. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but the sauces hit the quality high notes.
Return visits and food always excellent. A bit noisy though.
Great find during our trip to Pasadena. Good food. Fantastic service. Highly recommended.
Never disappointed. Gale's is our "go to" place for special occasions. A neighborhood treasure and the coconut cream cake is a must.
We enjoyed having my mom's birthday dinner at Gale's. The food is always great, but this was the first time we sat in the main room which was quite bright vs. the back area to the right. I think I like the ambiance in the back better. Highly recommend and we'll be back.
Was wonderful! Slightly pricy but, YUM! And great service!
Gale's really need a larger waiting area. There was about 15 people huddled together in an area for about 5 to 6 people. Other than that, good food, good service, good value.
We went to Gale’s after the Breeder’s Cup. We got there 1 hour early for our reservation- we overestimated how long it would take to get there...and the great folks at Gale’s got us to a table within 25 minutes of our arrival- on a busy Saturday night!!! They could not have been more accommodating. Then- we were treated to some of the BEST food we’ve ever had. The meatball appetizer and shrimp fritti were phenomenal! The gnocchi special was amazing and the ravioli de mare was so delicious! To top it off- they serve the best coconut cake!!! Highly recommend
Wonderful, busy, happy atmosphere. Vibrant. Food was sooo good. Drinks were very special. Glad we did it.
Delicious food and great service! Highly recommend.
All four of us loved our food -- including an Italian soup, a pizza with everything, and a wonderful pumpkin pasta dish with butter and sage. The service was efficient and friendly. An easy go to after an event or theatre. Gale's is always delicious and reliable.
Excellent service—thank you. Will return!
Food was bland and not seasoned enough for our tastes..Service was excellent.
We dine at Gayle's on an average of once or twice a month our most recent dining experience was no exception "great"which is why we continue patronize Gayle's, our server Alphonso was attentive, fun and efficient.
Josh is always amazing, his sense of hospitality is finely tuned and very generous! And the server that night (I wish I could remember his name) was equally generous and attentive. As for the food, every time I venture to something new, I never regret it, I had the pork chop (off menu) and it was delicious. It was dou le bone-in (huge) and it was breaded with panko and seasonings. The risotto was not as good, I think it needed a little more attention, but it did not detract from the meal at all, I still enjoyed all of it. I just LOVE Gale's and it had better NEVER leave.
Our waiter was very friendly and I appreciated him bringing to our table the birthday cake that I brought without having to be reminded! The food was delicious and the decor was warm and inviting.
The only thing I’d prefer is that there would be a better selection of vegetarian dishes.
I’m from Sonoma county and love good, fresh food. While in So Cal, I was looking for a lunch spot in Pasadena to meet my cousin. My college roommate lives in town and recommended Gales. I’m so happy that she did. It is conveniently located not far off of the 210 and it has its own parking lot, so we didn’t have to scramble to find a spot during lunch. The restaurant is charming, divided into a front room area that has great energy and a back area that’s a bit quieter for good conversation. The service was superb - friendly and attentive without feeling intrusive. And the food was delicious! It took us awhile to make our selections as the menu is varied ... pizzas, salads, pastas, seafood, etc. I don’t think there’s a bad option. My cousin had a grilled salmon salad, my husband had carbonara (homemade pasta noodles!) and I had a Caesar and prosciutto pizza — yum! The portions are generous, so we took our leftovers to go. Biscotti were served with our coffees — such a nice touch. I highly recommend Gales and I will definitely be back next time I’m in the area.
Seafood soup was amazing ! Excellent service as usual!
Gales is an excellent Italian restaurant. Cocktails were excellent. All of us enjoyed our entrees. And the highlight of our evening was the coconut cake! It is truly amazing.
We always love Gales. The service is great and the food even better!
Saturday lunch at Gale's was excellent. Salads, pasta, sandwiches enjoyed by our party of 5.
Great lunch spot. Have enjoyed dinner there before. Steak salad was pretty mediocre, but lots of other great items on the menu.
Consistently excellent food, including fish entrees and imaginative salads, with generous portions and fair prices. Service can be a little erratic or rushed at times. During weekends, noise level in main dining area makes conversation challenging.
Lovely little restaurant off a busy little street.
Entered and was immediately seated. Offered bread with balsamic and olive oil to dip in.
Waiter was very attentive and offered good advice on dishes to try and the specials.
Food was prepared very quickly.
Lovely wine offerings.
Will definitely return.
Prices have skyrocketed. Totally overpriced, particularly for the food they serve!!!
We had the lamb chops which were cooked just the way we ordered and were perfect. The food and wine were fabulous, and our waiter was the best.
My family ani I absolutely love Gale’s.
On this occasion I brought a friend who had never been there before...he loved everything, and wants to come back again.
We definitely will return for another outstanding experience.
The meal, service and ambience are excellent...we are fans.
Thank you, hope to see you soon!😃
