love this place; it has become a neighborhood favorite
Neighborhood gem! The falafel balls are excellent! Lovely entree salads with several choices of grilled protein (additional charge). I particularly like how they prepare their beet salad, adding pieces of dates for interest...yummy! My husband & I go there as a couple frequently. Recently we took our three grandchildren, and parents, for dinner. They were welcoming to our young guests, and efficiently served!
Great food. Nice location. Busy but not too loud. We will be going back!
Appetizers are good- both cold and warm offerings. The salads were made with wilted lettuce, cold and nearly brown avocado, overcooked lamb and ice-cold crusted goat cheese- one would expect the goat cheese to be warmed to provide some balance to the cold vegetables. It wasn't a pleasant meal after we finished the appetizers. And could the waiter smile? Maybe once to show some warmth and humanity? The gyros were passable. But all in all I would not return.
Excellent service even though they were very busy. Great food
We meet monthly with friends (but it was also a birthday) at different new places (for us) that we find on Open Table. This turned out to be a very nice find. Greek-Turkish influenced food. The hummus tasted just like the hummus we have had in Greece and Turkey, with very excellent grilled pita bread. Two of us had kebabs anf two of us had wraps. Very nicely marinated and grilled lamb, juice and flavorful. The rib eye kebab was also given thumbs up. Very nice grilled vegetables instead of rice on my plate. We had two large glasses of Salmon Creek Chardonnay each. The desserts were also a hit; a birthday Baclava, a pitachio cocoa creme, and a lemoncello and lemon creme dessert. Our waiter was very pleasant and patient (we talk a lot before ordering). Will definitely return; I love Eastern Mediterranean food.
Heard positive reviews from friends so tried it out. Chicken kabob was over cooked so I had to drench it in hummus so I could eat it. The hummus was amazing and so was the vegetables. The next time I go back I’ll just order one of the veggie entrees.
Very noisy. Falafel wrap very disappointing. The wrap bread was dry & hard. Doubtful that I will eat there again.
Delicious Med food with friendly staff, great service. We’ll be back!
Our ladies group LOVES this wonderful restaurant so much that we meet each month for a luncheon! Excellent salads, gyros, and hummus!! The staff is friendly and a pleasure to work with at all times.
The staff is friendly and helpful! They have a great menu.
thye have the best hummus that I have ever eaten. Very friendly
We had New Year’s Eve dinner . Loved the menu, dinner and our server! Will definitely return, it’s comfortable and relaxed. Also felt it is reasonably priced.
Galata is my favorite restaurant in Menlo Park. I wish we had more restaurants like Galata!
One of the best meals I've had in a long time. We had red lentil soup, falafel, pomegranate salad and grilled octopus and they were all terrific. And the pistachio gelato for dessert sealed the deal.
Highly recommend this restaurant!
This place shines at night--with each preparation quite different from the next, generous portions, and excellent ingredients. Order anything that comes with the yogurt--you won't be sorry. I love all the lamb dishes, traditional Turkish dishes.
Really great flavors and food. We frequent Galata once a month or so and alway leave saying we should come more. They have some special and unique (for the area) dishes like manti which is delicious.
Great food, friendly staff, comfortable setting, nice wine selection and good advice on pairing wine with meal selections.
Would highly recommend you visit soon, Galata Bistro is an excellent place for delicious Mediterranean cuisine.
Love this place. We go often. Good I’d healthy and well prepared. Reminds our of Turkey. Wonderful people
Outstanding food and great service! Surprised by how good they prepare Turkish dishes with local ingredients. I'll bring my Raki next time.
We were celebrating our son & wife Anniversary. Waiter excellent & helpful regarding Glutten Free .
Our son came from City by train & reservation honored. They loved Instanbul food & were so happy with your Menu. We had lovely evening.. Thanks so much. They had visited Galata tower & happy to see
it here. Cheers
It was my second time here. The first time was amazing. This time wasn't so great. The food was bland and they forgot to add Tzatziki to our wraps. That's what pulls the wrap all together and makes it extra delicious. My lamb wrap had a few bites that weren't edible, meat was too tough. Also, we sat outside, it was a gorgeous day, but bees kept swarming me and my food. I know they can't control nature, but maybe they could have some catch and release bee traps. The restaurant is gorgeous. The food this time wasn't great.
Haven't been to Galata in long time. Food and service quite good and reasonable.
Will go back to try many other enticing items on menu. Lots of vegetarian options
This is a family-run restaurant serving authentic Turkish food. The dishes are homemade and very tasty. Our favorites include the Grilled Octopus, Greek Salad, Coban Kavurma, and Pomegranate Kebab. Prices are good and the service is prompt and (mostly) very friendly. The outdoor tables are pleasant in summertime, and indoors is cozy and comfortable all the time.
It was good not great. I would go back and the highlight was having interaction with pedestrians on the sidewalk.
Great food, nice atmosphere and excellent service! They are so friendly and we will definitely come back.
Coming home from a business meeting at 2:45, and starving, we used open table to make our reservation. We were surprised that a “closed” sign was on the door of the restaurant. Being very hungry and disappointed, we knocked on the door. They did let us come in and eat, but it felt very uncomfortable. It was obviously their time to be closed, and all the employees DO need time off, so we suggest deleting the hours they need to be closed, from the Open Table app.
Again, we truly LOVE Galata, and will go back with groups as usual, but make your reservation times fully functioning.
Nice dinner to end a day at Summerfest in Menlo Park. Food was excellent and arrived quickly for our party of five!
My only disappointment about this restaurant is that they didn't acknowledge my note in the reservation about it being our anniversary. The food, service and atmosphere were great.
The foods are really good.service is ok.
This place was surprisingly good. Tasty food and great service.
Extremely accommodating for some allergies. The service and the food could not have been better.
Galata never fails. Their food is consistently delicious!
Great local spot for lunch. There is something on the menu for everyone, the staff is knowledgeable and helpful and it's good value for the price.
We are really starting to love this place. The food is consistently fresh and very diverse. The kid kabobs are a good option with rice and tasty proteins, no veg or salad though.
For adults the grilled octopus is delicious as an app and the lentil soup was outstanding. Great place, great food. We will be back.
Even though the restaurant was less than half occupied when we arrived, we (2) were sat at the worst table - the one nearest the entrance/exit so people leaving the restaurant and mulled around, were right at our tableside - very disturbing. Portions are good-size, and tasty, although on the salty side.
My husband and I were in Menlo Park for some business and stopped by for an early dinner. It did not disappoint. We had mostly appetizers for dinner so we could sample a little bit of everything. All was delicious. Service was very attentive but not intrusive. We will definitely go back
I like this place a lot!!! Delicious food, good and friendly service and great value!!
Part of the sudden wave of Turkish restaurants on the mid-Peninsula. As usual with Turkish restaurants, food was really good. Restaurant was almost full on a Saturday evening, so our making a reservation was worthwhile. Some of the tables have a worn out finish; not attractive on dark wood. Three different members of the staff announced the list of special items both of which were seafood items. It sounds like the staff may not be fully organized. We did not have one of those seafood items but instead had wonderful choices off the menu. Also two glasses of Turkish red wine which were excellent and for dessert we split one serving of bread pudding. That was a great finish to this meal.
Love this place!
